I love that Tumi won the at home prize, she looks amazing. I was blown away by the amount of weight loss across the board. BUT I think Rachel went too far, I mean it was a huge accomplishment but she might have gone from one extreme to another. If you didn't watch, she went from 260 to 105.
This sums it up well
This was Rachel in the beginning and at makeover week (at 150 pounds) which is when she left the ranch (end of the season) to work on her own before the finale.
Anyone know how tall she is? I don't think she looks as shocking as everyone else seems to, but I really need to know if she's 5'0" and 105lbs or 5'8" and 105. I never can tell looking at people on tv.
The shitty part is that we all agree she looks too thin, yet throw in a fancy dress and stick her on the red carpet and she'd fit right in. This is the standard they put out for women. It's so fucked.

She's reported at 5'3", which puts her BMI borderline underweight.

I don't watch the show but I saw someone on FB say she is 5'4"
Earlier in the season, I thought that they had said she was 5'8" because I remember thinking we were about the same size (height and weight) at that point. But I could be misremembering?

Ok, that is concerning. Also, they lose it all so quickly, but that bothers me about the show in general. Most of the winners from the past seem to have gained back at least 20lbs, so hopefully she does the same.

She went from 260 to 150 in the 14 week period that was shown on the show, there is at least a month between the last show and the finale where they are at home working on their own. She lost an additional 45 pounds after the last real show weigh in, so I think she might have been taking extreme measures in her weight loss.
I hope that she gains a little weight for maintenance and can remain happy and proud of herself with that.
I noticed at the end when the confetti came down, no one really went to congratulate her...they all stayed back, including the trainers. In previous finales, everyone was all over the winner. I know while they are on the ranch, they are under the care of doctors. Are they under doctor care between the time they leave and the finale?
Her face. She looks like she's 40. I just watched her reveal and Bob and Jillian's faces say it all. I think Jillian was even saying something negative or in shock to Bob, but I couldn't tell exactly what it was.

I thought she was taller too. I think the show is doing some crowd control by saying she's 5'4" now. Clearly still underweight, but not as much.
I hate this show. I mean, I still watch every episode because I like stupid tv, but I hate this show. It gives an really unhealthy impression that weight should come off quickly and it just doesn't (unless you can work out 12 hours a day and have a personal chef).
But this, letting her win, is the last straw. New poster child for disordered eating.
I don't think she looks toned. She would look better with a bit more weight on her, maybe about 10-15 pounds? I don't know if she did this because it is her personality (she was a very competitive swimmer prior to her weight gain so perhaps she takes training to extremes?) or if she just did this because she really likes to win. She was very committed, though, and really embraced the change. I admire her for sticking with it so well.
Maybe the competition should change from losing weight to losing fat. One can lean out (lose a lot of fat), build muscle mass, and subsequently gain weight, which puts you at a disadvantage with the way the competition is measured.
But I guess weekly body composition measurements would be far less dramatic than the weigh-ins, lol. And also a harder concept for the general public to grasp.
Good idear, although not good TV, which makes it infuriating!
I think she was too skinny. I'm guessing this was in order to win $250,000. I would probably do it too if I could win that much money, sadly. I'm hopeful she will gain back a bit of weight and be healthy.

I don't think there were any problems while they were on the ranch, since there was a doctor there with them and they were strict on keeping an eye on everything. I think the problems were once they went home for a bit, they could make the show look better by only allowing a week between the last aired show and the live finale at home. The problem is that Rachel probably would have done this regardless of the competition or not.
I wanted to start this thread last night but I was afraid of being flamed for body snarking.
She looks like Karen Carpenter. It's not just the gaunt frame, but her skin is waxy and dull, her hair lost its shine, etc. Lots of red flags. I hope she doesn't have any lasting complications. NBC is going to have some damage control to do.
I was really rooting for Rachel, but man alive I actually gasped when she came out. She is way too thin. And did you see the numbers that falshed on the scale? It actually flashed like 65 and 75.
On one hand I feel bad for her bc before she was probably getting told she was too big, and now she is too small. She may know how to lose weight now, but she clearly still does not have a healthy relationship with food.
