Aww, I think a lot of pits are cute. The other breeds you mentioned...not so much.
GBCN has made me want a greyhound. I asked Wyatt this morning if he wanted a greyhound friend and he perked up and went to the window like there might be one out there for him. I'm pretty sure if I brought up a second dog to H he'd divorce me.
I understand what you mean with bulldogs and boston terriers (and pugs! that may be not popular, lol), but not pits. Pit puppies are like the cutest things in the world! There's a pit/shar pei in my rescue and I cannot get enough of the wrinkles, lol.
We got this litter in a little bit ago!
Puppies of all breeds are excluded from the non-cute list. I mean come on! Puppies. I meant adult dogs.
Although purple vest stripey face may convert me. omg sweetheart.
I'm using my husband's birthday money to get drunk on French 75s tonight with a girlfriend.
mmmmm.....French 75s are my favorite cocktail.
I like to make them with grapefruit instead of lemon.
Ohhh....that sounds amazing! I didn't try them for the longest time because my first experience with gin did not go well (I was 18 & only liked amaretto sours. Blah). mfluder's praises finally convinced me to try one; it was instant love! Now I'm making up for lost time by drinking as many as possible

Here's my piece about MMM -- great for pregnancy/parenting-related discussion, but it makes me sad that there are also randoms and confessions threads over there, as well as other discussions that really have nothing to do with child-having. I wish those discussions could happen over here instead. I wish MMM was a place where people went to ask a kid-related question when they had one, like I go to Travel when I have a Travel-related question. It isn't, and that makes me sad because I miss people (and I miss this board being really active)
Unrelated, but a confession I thought of while on my way to work: my husband and I share tissues
When I post on MM I get two or three responses I assume because I'm not as well known here. I get more feedback on MMM. You have to give to get. It sounds like you miss specific people, which is totally understandable, but if you (general you) aren't going to take the time to respond and develop relationships with new people, yeah, the board is going to die.
Admittedly, I haven't gotten through all the posts in this thread yet, but this is basically what I was going to say (and maybe this discussion is already dead on page 11, sorry...).
I am a long time lurker that only started posting (frequently, anyway) when I was pregnant and MMM was created. It seemed like a smaller community to jump into, and I actually got responses to my questions. I had tried to jump into MM several times in the past with a variety of topics, but seemed like questions were glossed over and only answered by one or two people, even when I left them open ended and tried to spur discussion. I certainly realize that I'm no regular, but that type of response never felt welcoming, and MMM did.
That said, I have posted recently on MM with a money related query and again only got two responses. And I also feel weird jumping into a thread 11 pages in, especially if I'm not "known".

Brag-opinion: I really don't understand why organic chemistry is so hard for otherwise-intelligent people. I didn't even major in chemistry (took it because I thought I might do pre-med), and it was a total breeze for me. No, I didn't have an easy teacher - my professor told me she had to throw out my grades when curving the class scores because I got 95-100 on every test while the next highest was in the low 80's. What's so hard about just remembering & applying the rules?

My husband would hate you for this. He had the hardest time with organic chemistry, and took it twice (back when he thought he was doing pre-med) and struggled with it so much. Anatomy however, which so many people seemed to struggle with, comes completely naturally to him.

LOL. Did you never struggle in another class?
/PhD in organic chemistry
I'm getting a PhD in biochemistry, and orgo kicked my ass.

I don't understand how people don't get basic math (percents, geometry, etc).
Other ppl don't get why I can't spell.
We are all different, learn differently, process differently. It's what make us unique.
Try being in a field where your job is to talk about the range of behavior. And you know what, most of those "idiots" that ppl judge for not using "common sense," where there was a very rational, foreseeable reason for that. But that's my human factors 101 lectures, I'll save for another time
Yeah, not getting algebra is what I don't get. "x + 2 = 3. x = ?" Blank stares. :?
I'm insanely curious about organic chemistry. I was an English major, but my job now involves reading lots of (what I perceive to be) organic chem-like resources. I'm curious if I could hack it.
OH you know the weirdest IG rabbit hole? CHEERLEBRITIES. Have you heard of this weirdness? They're high-school cheerleaders, who cheer competitively. They have, like, hundreds of thousands of followers. It's ... disturbing.

My confession - I follow all of the little girls on Dance Moms on instagram. It's similar to this - they get sooo many likes, but it's the dance world rather than the cheerleading world. Also, a "maddie face" is a commonly used phrase between my husband and I. :/

Well la-di-dah. You're very actively involved in your local MENSA chapter, correct?

Since we're talking about animals, I love animals and feel immense maternal attachment and warm, fuzzy feelings with respect to random animals. As I've previously mentioned, my dream would be to live on a farm in the Hudson Valley with a bunch of animals. On the flipside, I feel none of those warm, fuzzy feelings whenever I'm around my dear friends' children. That said, MH has purported to be ready for a child for over a year now and at a certain point in the not-too-distant future (thanks a lot, health complication) I'm going to have to figure out whether to acquiesce to his polite nagging and join the land of the breeders. I feel somewhat confident I would be a "good" mother, I just don't know if I want to be a mother. I have started "lurking" on the MMM boards just to see if that pushes me one way or the other but so far I'm still decidedly uncertain.

One of the Sisters just came in and said some kind of prayer to someone and then laughed. She's the funniest nun I've ever met! Not that I've met very many...
Oh, I have another dog-related one, prompted by luvmagoldn's new pup. I think most "designer breeds" - goldendoodles, labradoodles, etc. - are adorable. I even think puggles are cute as long as they're more beagle and less pug. I'll probably never have one, unless we see one at a rescue when we're looking to adopt, but I think they're mostly darling. And even though I'm a die-hard rescuer, and rabidly anti-puppy mill, I have a hard time judging people who fall for their sweet faces and get one anyway.

I feel like 12 pages in is a good place to put my flameful. I hate pets, especially ones with fur. I don't mind animals in general, as long as I don't have to touch them. But ugh, no pets.

Wait, what? Where do you work that dogs are allowed to come to the office and nuns walk in on a regular basis?
I grew up Catholic and none of our nuns were funny. They were nice, and nowhere near the mean nun stereotype, but definitely not funny.

Heres one: I didn't know I could get my dog registered as a therapy dog through a psychologist or whatever. I'm tempted to do that now. I'd love to be able to take her places!

Wyatt is stuck at home now due the new job. He's probably digging a hole as we speak. Now I work for a Catholic healthcare system. I have no idea how many nuns are here though, they don't dress in the garb. This woman talked about how she put tums (I think) in the urinal for the good patients just to lighten the mood. Apparently it fizzles pretty bad, lol.

Oh ok. I didn't remember that you changed jobs. lol at putting Tums in the urinal for kicks.

I am trying not to use any sick or annual leave so I can stockpile it for a future maternity leave. But I have a feeling one night next week is going to turn crazy and result in me calling in sick from being hungover. Proof that maybe I'm not ready to need a maternity leave anyway. LOL.
This is probably more of a flameworthy confession, but I've never been on instagram (that i know of, at least. unless somebody here posted a link or something).
and all of these posts about anorexia and weird not-real doll babies are affirming the fact that i definitely don't need to go there. what the actual fuck. dolls as real babies?
