I don't want to keep quoting the whole transcript, but CNN has been showing this recording since last night and they've been repetitively saying that they cannot confirm their sources. IN other words, it could have been completely fabricated by Putin so that he could pass the blame onto Ukraine. Who knows right. Still pretty chilling. Especially the mention of bodies falling and then in the next breath asking why the f**they are flying over the space since there's a war going on. Heartless.
It makes me wonder if it was mistaken for a non commercial airliner and he was genuinely surprised it was civilians. Said more in a wtf were they doing there way, kwim?
Eta: not saying it makes it ok. Just wondering if there's something lost in translation with regard to the what were they flying there for.

yes, any sympathy the world might have had for their cause went down with that plane.
At the risk of being slapped down for having an opinion here.....
I don't think this is true at all. Those who were already in support of pro-Russian separatists in the region will be more than happy to either blame Ukraine, blame rogue rebels, or just shrug this off.
not slapping you down here but i wonder if countries were more on the fence about the whole thing will just pull back and take a side now. that would shift things, IMO.
i mean, china's a hot mess but can they really stand with russia now?

I don't even think Russia will stand with the separatists...at least, not publicly.
There will of course be moral support for the separatists among residents in that area but whether the well will run dry for the separatist leaders, we'll have to see. I think their operations will be significantly impacted.

No, I'm not going to slap you down. Maybe I'm just wishful thinking.

China's foreign policy is based entirely in pragmatism. They will stand with whoever is most politically expedient at the moment. And I think you'd be hard pressed to argue that siding with Russia is a winning proposition right now.

I don't understand how the above transcript puts blame on Ukraine. It's Russian military operatives taking blame, not Ukranian, unless I'm completely misunderstanding the transcript.
I think the plane was shot down by Russian operatives who probabaly didn't have permission to do so but were generally sent to that region to fuck shit up. They didn't mean to shoot down a commercial jet. Whoops. They meant to shoot down a Ukrainian military plane as they had been previously doing. A case of small penis + big gun + itchy trigger finger + war zone = downed commercial liner.

I just saw on CNN that the international monitors didn't get access to the site like they wanted. I am not watched TV so it not sure waht the details are.
But it is really horrible if they won't even let people collect the bodies

I must have been confused then. I thought the headings during the segment said "Ukraine Security Team."

I also thought the transcript put the blame on Russia.
A newspaper out of Australia is reporting that there wer six HIV conference attendees confirmed to be on the plane. Organizers say that there might be more, but the total number is likely far short of the 100 or so earlier reported.
Also, Malaysia's transport minister is headed to Kiev to insure inspectors have access to the site. (Cicero note: I'm not sure what he is going to do against Ukranianian separatists, but MA is owned by the Malaysian government so it is technically their plane. This guy was named to the position recently over the belief that he could handle the on-going previous missing plane issue.
Well, there is a giant hole there they can use to relocate.
And, 200 bodies were removed by the separatists? The f??
No, no, no. You have to be one soulless sick pos to do this.
Yeah, this really pisses me off. I heard they were putting them in refrigerated cars? But someone mentioned they started to burn the bodies. SO horrible. Their poor families.
So I heard today on either France24 or BBC that Russia will only cooperate with the investigation if no blame is assigned. Anyone else see/hear that? I hope the other members of the Security Council don't agree. He is such a prick.

So Putin has called for an international investigation... but his rebels won't let the investigators near the site? What a cluster. I fear those families will never receive their loved ones' remains, but more importantly, we might never get a full picture of what happened.
Is there really no way the international community can stop this phuckery???
I feel they are waiting for US to step in (us=U.S.). I am hoping we don't and Pres Obama is all, "Look, you all do nothing. Stop faning yourselves, drinking your sweet tea, and step up."

If anyone should step in, I would think it would be the Dutch, considering what heavy losses they suffered. Or NATO or the EU.

The Dutch...ummm...they aren't who come to mind when you think of the "step up and do something" countries. Hopefully NATO or EU.

This is where I am at.
Today the paper is full of descriptions of just how gosh darn angry all the Europeans are and their big plan to retaliate by...discussing more possible sanctions. Meanwhile, I'm reading about the separatist fuckery and thinking they could use a good nuke on top of them right about now. Reason number four bajillion I will never be President, but anyway.

This is the big problem. The Dutch are the angriest but there really isn't that much they can do unilaterally. However, I was reading that they have a massive natural gas port that can swing into operation if Europe decides to clamp down on Russia.
