Niles is a family name but H won't hear of it. lol. He's also STILL OBSTINATE about hating Oliver and Oscar, which are two of my favorite names ever ever. Still, he's okay with my top girl name, so that's a serious battle won right there.
We have the same taste in names. Edward was our #1 boy name, Oliver #2. And our daughter is named Ingrid. I LOVE Ingrid, you never hear of one (and my dh is a pedi at a big clinic, where she is the only one), but yet its not weird and never mispronounced.
and tamb - I think that Gretta goes really well with Joanna (that's our other dd's name)
Jermys names kill me. I want to say no! to all her names
But I love some older names too. Henry (one of the twins middle names) and Ingrid and Harry and Imogen. Two of my top picks were Sebastian and Magnus. LOVE. They got vetoed We almost used Henry as a first name but H wanted to call him Hank and I wanted Harry.
for a girl, i like greta, gretchen and genevieve. for a boy, i like gavin and garry.
AND YES, these are all 'G' names. it is a total coincidence. and the only reason i am posting them here is b/c i will not name any future baby with a 'g' name b/c i already have a G and i'm not into that duggar trend.
I had this issue. I like J names for boys. Jude and Julian were my favs, but I couldn't stomach two J names
Yup. Sworn to secrecy. We actually have 3 names we're deciding between, but didn't have middle names to go with 2 of them.
My little sisters name was changed because my grandmother made a not-so-great comment, while my mother was in delivery. So yeah, keeping it under wraps.
I wanted to name our last Greyson for a girl. H hated it. He's not too thrilled about her name now, but he likes her nickname. It was our compromise. I got her name from Nanny McPhee. Evangeline. We call her Evie or Eve for short. It totally fits her.
allhis - Gretta is a pretty name, but I have a problem with Rs. I think it has to do with my teeth to mouth ratio. I wish I just lived in France or something - lol.

I think there are going to be a lot of Vivienne/Vivians (are they the same?) out there, as well as Gideon. I have seen an explosion of them on my FB lately.
I just made a list the other day. For girls I like: Olivia, Sophia, Matilda, Charlotte, Lucy, Alice, Audrey, Norah, Grace, and Lillian. For boys I like: Oliver, Caleb, Liam, Malcolm, and James.
My H loves the name Isla for a girl but wants to spell it Ayla. I've told him that people will think her name is pronounced eh-la but he is insistent that people will pronounce Ayla eye-la like is intended. I think he is crazy.
How would you pronounce Ayla?
Eh-La. Long A.
I have a friend with this name. Her parents wanted to name her Kayla, but smeone they knew "Stole" the name, so they named her Ayla Kay Lastname (Kayla in pig latin). This is a true story.

When I see Ayla I think of the "Clan of the Cave Bear" series, which involved some hilarious sexual themes. Did anyone else read these?
