So a squirrel that was doing pretty ok on its own, came/was lured to your husband and sat on his shoulder is now going to be kept in a hamster cage for the rest of its life.
What is wrong wrong with you? Yes you just leave it out in the wilderness. You don't take it home so that you can have a new cutesy pet.
If the squirrel was given a clean bill of health why does it need you to take care of it?
What the hell else was I supposed to do? Leave her to die? She ran up his leg. There was no nest around, we looked. She is young, very young. We took her to the vet. He did all the tests, he said she is a little malnourished otherwise healthy, were we supposed to throw her out? We are feeding her until she is big enough to be on her own, if she leaves us, she leaves us, if she stays, she stays.
Do you not have rehabbers in your state? You seem to only care about getting a cute little pet, not what's in the best interest for the squirrel.
You know what, I do animal rescue, my children are involved in animal rescue, don't you dare accuse me of doing something like that for funsies. The vet was a vet I know through a wildlife program thank you. I have never, will never, mistreat or abuse an animal. I foster animals, I volunteer at shelters, I love animals and most times more than humans so don't go there with me. You don't know me, I don't know you, I don't take things like that lightly. Don't go there with me on that on. Don't. The VET told us the squirrel was too young and to nourish it and take care of it until it is ready to be released. I am done. This is beyond pissing me off, that baby needed help and I am sure our Vet would have told us to let it go if it didn't need it. He trusts my judgment and I trust his.

You're delusional if you think luring a squirrel in and then immediately caging it as a pet is best for a healthy squirrel.
This thread vs "hey guys, I found this baby squirrel and I wasn't sure what to do, so I took it to the vet and they advised me on how to take care of it until we can set it free"
Out of the gate with "omgz, look! A new pet! Cage, water bottle, squeeee!!!!!" is not cool.

Meh - if you are really as into rescue as you state, you would understand the concern people have. And you would have put these things in your OP.
I sense backpedaling.
I sense you don't know how really fucking pissed off I am right now and I am trying not to go off right now. I am beyond pissed off.
