I'm already starting to dread my trip to China in a few weeks. It's going to be 90% humidity, so I know nothing will stay on my face. I wonder if I should even bother with anything other than BB cream.
I feel qualified to provide advice in this area. Primer and setting spray are your friends. Andplusalso get some blotting papers.

I'm taking a break from makeup photography. I've decided to let the movers take anything I'm not particularly crazy about, which is surprisingly a lot of my stash. I'm taking photos of everything because if anything is broken I get reimbursed (eventually) for the replacement cost. This will allow me to buy new makeup I may like better, so win-win. I also unearthed some things I'd totally forgotten about like my Too Faced Candlelight Powder and UD De-Slick powder.
I'm finally going in for a sephora makeover thingy on saturday. I like it as a rouge perk, but I've never used it.
I had one a couple years ago for my 10 year anniversary before we went out to dinner. I think I lucked out with a good person -- the makeup looked good and I still use some of the color ideas and products she showed me.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
I had to order refills on basics. I hate spending money on make up that is not new. It's just like getting deodorant or something. Not exciting. I want to order a new palette, blush or lipstick, not just refill my eyeshadow base and mascara.
I start a new job this month that will allow me to wear nail polish and a full face of makeup again (I cannot at my current job). I am so excited! I hope to join the fotd posts, too! I've missed my makeup so much.

The only thing that marginally stayed on my face in that type of humidity was eyeshadow. My foundation melted off. I felt so gross and sticky too. :/
Yeah, I can't see even mascara staying put in humidity like that. I might be going au natural for a week!
I'm pretty impressed with the way Sephora dealt with the Champagne Pop release. I had no problem with the website yesterday. I guess it should be expected from a big company but it doesn't always work that way.
I finished going through all of my makeup this afternoon and picking out the things I would be heartbroken to lose versus the things I wouldn't mind replacing if they're destroyed by the movers. It's going to take most of this bag to carry everything:
and H made this face when I told him how excited I was to have whittled the "must have" collection down this far: ^o)
But it fits! And this bag should fit in my car even after we've loaded it with things we actually need like clothes and pets.

cute bag! Where's it from? And that's hard work!
It's a Kate Spade Saturday Weekender, which was a little pricey (wait for a sale if you'd like to get one, because they do pretty regularly go on sale), but so worth it. It improbably fits easily into the overhead storage bin on planes, and it fits a crapton of stuff. I can pack 7+ days of outfits plus some toiletries in mine when we travel.

hmm. I think birxhbox carried This for a little bit? That'd be good use of points and discounts....
We are going to the Bahamas with my family at the end of the month (squeeee!) and I have thought far more about what makeup I'm going to bring than anything else except perhaps my bathing suits.
Why is it when you go to replace a product, you fall in love with it again? Case in point - my NARS radiant creamy concealer. I have been pretty unhappy with it the last few months, but have been trying to use it up before purchasing something new. I am just about down to the last few uses and it has been awesome this past week. Ugh! This is just like when you go to get your hair cut and have the best day ever the day before.

I'm out in public for the first time in a very long time with no makeup. ::shakes violently::
I tried a blue eye yesterday and the blue read gray on me. On the upside I discovered that I can make MAC Rondelle work really well for me despite the fact that it's shiny silver.

I love, love, love Rondelle! thank you again, twotrue!
I wore it yesterday for the 4th, in fact. I put it all over my lid, then layered the even more sparkly silver from the Electric Palette over the middle of my lid, then did the outer corner and a cat eye using Elf Ocean Bound navy blue smudgepot (great product.) I topped it all off with the Bite Rouge red lipstick and wore a white dress. I loooove Rondelle-- it is such a neutral silver and is excellent for creating gradients or wearing over bold eye colors.
my friends threw me a little sprinkle today. I tried to do a blue eye and it actually came out pretty good, but it was just too much. A little Mimi for a low key cookout.
So then I tried a simple neutral eye with falsies and just couldn't deal. I got them on but they felt and looked wierd. So off they came and i just touched up my liner and gave up. I need to try individual lashes.
wawa, whoa. I love the look of the lashes! Sorry they felt weird.
I wore a few extra lashes today because I had a kiddie birthday party followed by a wedding this evening. I haven't tried wearing liner with them yet, I'm afraid I'm going to mess up either the lashes or the liner.

Never attempted falsies (I had to draw a line somewhere with my makeup nor ways but have always wanted to. I wonder if putting liner on after lashes would be better because then you don't cover up the eyeliner you just did.

Talk to me about Naked 3. Is it good for brown eyes and somewhat yellow undertones? Debating between that and naked smoky. I have naked 2 and like it a lot.
NewOrleans and litebright - thanks! I think I didn't have them quite close enough to my actual lash line, so there was a bit of separation between my real lashes and the false. So they looked...weird in person. bania and other false lashes wearers - any tips on fixing that?
The being able to feel them every damn time I blink though...I'm not sure that's fixable. I couldn't wear contacts for the same reason - I think I just have sensitive eyelids or something? I dunno.
I'm not giving up yet though.
Unrelated kinda - I was watching a Jaclyn Hill video and she said something about how using MORE colors helps her do even a simple look without sweating the blending so much. So the last couple of times I've done actual shadow on my eyes I've been trying that, just layering a bunch of similar tones. It totally works. Who knew.

For me, I had to get used to the feel of the false lashes. I don't feel them at all anymore. Well, that's not completely true. If they aren't on correctly, they're incredibly irritating. In fact, just this morning, I had to rip one strip off and redo it at work. Good thing I always carry a tube of lash glue in my makeup bag.
Getting the strip closer to your lash line just takes practice. I can't use tweezers or any instruments for application. I have to use my fingers to feel exactly where I'm placing them. 99% of the time, they are so close to my lash line I don't even need liner to conceal the band.
Since you're looking for tips, here's mine:
1) Bend/work in the bands before using them for the first time (helps to make them more malleable which will prevent lifting) 2) Apply a consistent, straight line of glue along the whole band and let dry for approx 20-30 seconds before applying. I hold the strip and apply the glue straight from the tube. Pay special attention to the ends, making sure they're completely coated. 3) Since the glue is tacky from letting them dry slightly before applying, you only have 1 shot to get it right. Start at the outer corner, aligning them at the furthest point and working inwards. I have large eyes so I don't need to trim them and they line about 3/4 of my eye, leaving the inner 1/4 unlashed. This is important for me because my inner corner is especially sensitive to the weight of the lashes and it feels....not right. So you may want to trim them so they are more comfortable if needed. 4) Working from the outer corner in, guide the strip so it's basically sitting on your lash line rather than your eyelid. They need to become one. Lol. 5) Don't rush the previous step and take extra time to make sure they are sticking properly. I push on the ends of the lashes so it pushes the band onto my skin. Over and over, paying special attention to the inner and outer corners to prevent lifting.
Bonus: 6) (lol) I always use eyeshadow primer and one sweep of eyeshadow before I start my lashes. I feel it helps the glue stay put but I have oily skin, you may not need this.
Writing this all out makes me question why I bother with this everyday but honestly it's just second nature now and it's worth it to me.
ETA: I just saw your pic! They look great!! You have very pretty eyes.

Yesterday I achieved VIB status at Sephora for the first time. I am not sure whether to be proud or embarrassed so I'm going to label myself "shamecited."
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
