I love the Venzas! The dealership gave it to us as a loaner when they were getting our Highlander (::shame: ready. It was awesome. It was also totally pimped out so maybe that was why I loved it so much - huge double sunroofs, back up camera, navigation, leather heated seats, etc.
I would like to submit that my mother bought an SUV because "it will be great when you go to college". Then I moved myself in to college every year with my '99 Subaru Outback. She continues to drive around a huge, empty SUV because she likes being high up. She also drives it from PA to Cape Cod about once every other month and complains about gas.
It makes me ragey. When my WRX dies, I'm getting another Outback. Subaru 4 lyfe.
I love our little Impreza. When we replace my Cherokee (*sniffle*) before the next kid comes, I want a Forester. I've never heard anything bad about a Subaru.

:Y:
H really wanted a WRX forever. But, he realized it wasn't he best choice, so ended up getting an Outback last week. We love it so far!

The school bus comes to KHC's stop at 6:30am. That's when I get UP in the morning. The school is less than half a mile away. We drop him off at 7:00am.
one of my douchiest colleagues drives an F250. to work. at a lawfirm. and then back home. to his suburban tract house on .25 acres.
i laugh and laugh and laugh every time i see him in his ridiculously huge car. and then i cry. for america. and our natural resources.
This is Calgary and Edmonton, basically. I worked with people who would commute an hour downtown in an F250 (and gas there is not cheap) and then spend $15 a day to park when the train costs $2 and takes 20 min. It's ridiculous. There are so many trucks and SUVs there.
That said, I do not know one single person here with a car. You'd be a sitting duck on the highway, and you dont want to hit an animal on an icy road in a car. Our concession is that we are a one car family. And, our vehicle doesn't have a hemi, lol.
But this is nothing new for Alberta. Face it, it's our Texas of the North.
A Mini Cooper used to be my dream car. Now it's the Fiat 500. The green one. Drooooool.
It may not have the fancy little extras. But it's fun to drive. That's what matters.
I tend to own more stripped-out, sportier (meaning that their suspension is tougher and there's not a ton of cushiness). I just like them more. Right now my car is a Toyota Yaris. With ALL the bells & whistles, it cost $13k. LOL!

Related to UOs on SUVs...why does nobody have issues with vans? I HATE backing out of parking spots when parked next to a mini van and having to inch out, even from EITHER of our 2 SUVs (clearly I hate the earth and other drivers who I drive recklessly around).
But really, if someone else can instead suggest a humane way to transport our 80+ lb dog in the trunk of a compact car that's already filled with a stroller and PNP on a bi-weekly basis, I'd love to hear it. Even though my dog would NEVER bite someone , I'm not cool with her sharing the back seat with our infant and car seat, and as far as I know, locking her in a trunk is frowned upon too...
ETA - I am also not cool with DS sharing the back seat with 2 sets of golf clubs, or DH's hockey bag (which won't even fit in the empty back seat now that we have a convertible car seat in).
I'm watching a NatGeo doc (don't worry, I'm going to balance it out with RH later) on the development of multiples in the womb. They showed one twin kicking the other in the head, and rather than fight back, the second one just withdrew and put its head on the placenta.

Poor second one. Bullied from the start.
Wait, this is the randoms thread, yes?
Bullied...or cleverly trying to cut off sibling's blood supply??

This reminds me that I don't understand why some parents need to take their child to school and pick them up everyday. Now if there is no school bus system, I can understand. But if there is or if the kid can walk, I don't see why you have to drive them every day.
I have a friend that drives her kids to and from school and they live 4 blocks from the school. She does it because they are too tired to walk.

My 6 year old nephew refuses to walk nearly anywhere and gets "tired" too. Oh, except for playing 2 hours straight soccer on the weekend, and riding his bike for hours on end. That's not tiring, apparently.
