total AW, but I had to show off our FB announcement =) today is the 9th anniversary of our first date!
Effing adorable, callmehales. And your timeline is really similar to ours! Since we've been married for six years, I think a lot of people just figure that if we haven't had kids by now, we're not going to. Won't they be surprised
Update from my appointment: The good news is that there's been no change to my cervix in the last 2 weeks. The doctor said I don't have to stay horizontal and confined to the house quite so much (I can cook a bit and bake, and run a quick errand or two). So am very pleased that H will probably be fine to fly home as originally scheduled on the 17th.
The "meh" news is that baby is measuring on the small side and they want to monitor her growth. 3lbs6oz at 31 weeks - I'm not sure what's considered 'normal', I'm assuming there's a range. My placenta looks fine, vessels look fine, and fluid looks fine. She might just be a small baby. H and I are both pretty small people and we were both quite small babies, so this wouldn't shock me. Anyway, I'm now going in for weekly u/s to check placenta function/fluid, weekly NST, and growth scan every other week. Presumably until she arrives. I'm going to try and get a referral next week to the OB surgeon to schedule a c-section because I really need to feel in control of something right now.
Loira at 1.5 kg she is a little below 50th percentile. which seems fine to me. Did she drop percentiles since her last u/s?
No, she's consistently measured either just at 50th or below for all measurements on our 11 week, 14 week, and 20 week scans. I know because in the UK the report actually came with a sliding scale that showed her measurements as being on the small side, but not outrageously so. Rationally, I think it's very likely she's just small like I was (born at 42 weeks and weighing just over 6lbs). But combined with all the other drama we've faced, it probably stresses me out more than it should.
great job loira 's cervix!! glad they're keeping an eye on your girl, hopefully when she makes her debut in SEVERAL weeks, she'll be great =)
I went out for brunch with my mum to celebrate. I had an apple cinnamon waffle, bacon, half of my mum's hashbrowns and a milkshake. You know, just in case I need to eat more to help her grow.

Phew, I'm so glad your bed rest has been lightened up, loira!
I don't know much about fetus sizes, but based on the surely highly reliable Baby Center weekly updates, I was thinking average for 31 weeks would be about 3.5 pounds. 3 pounds 6 ounces seems totally fine for that then.
Huh, I just checked a few websites, and they all have the exact same numbers. For 31 weeks, it says the fetus will be 3.31 pounds, so 3 pounds 5 ounces. Weird.
I guess with so much monitoring, you'll at least get piece of mind regularly.
I had my glucose test this morning, two hours later I'm still burping up orange drink. ugh.
Ugh, I was sick all damn day after this. I had to drink it on an empty stomach, so I was jittery at first, then I crashed, then I just felt sick to my stomach.

aaaand the pushy people have started! i posted on FB how thankful DH and i were for everyone's congratulations, and one girl asked if we knew the sex yet. i said no, and then this other girl chimes in "well i found out at 10 weeks. have you had your 11-12 week scan yet??"
OMG LEAVE ME ALONE. i don't plan on telling the world before i tell my family, and for every comment of "time to monogram everything!" i laugh...because we're not telling anyone the name either!
callmehales , I'd have replied something like 'Yes we know The Sex, how do you think we got into this situation?' but I guess it's not as clever for IVF.
OMG so my sister has the stomach flu. And spent all bloody afternoon upstairs touching who knows what in the kitchen and using my bathroom (admittedly, it's a half bath for everyone, but I use it most because it's right next to my room). She's 18 and is considerate enough to worry about giving me her germs, but doesn't put 2 and 2 together to think that maybe she shouldn't be spending time being sick on the main floor. She had a meltdown when I suggested she go downstairs and rest in her own room and use her own bathroom. Then my father accused me of 'banishing' her downstairs. Clearly I'm insensitive. Sorry, but I have a small baby and a wonky cervix. The absolute last thing I need is to be retching into a toilet and not taking in any calories. Please send good healthy vibes that I don't catch this bug. Or kill my family.

Geez loira, how insensitive of you to not want to get the stomach flu! (seriously, even if I wasn't pregnant, get out of here with your sickness!) and callmehales, that's what I'm dreading about telling people - it sounds bad but I didn't really care about your pregnancy/kid before I got pregnant, I still don't really care. (Obviously I wish them well, but I just don't care to hear about your morning sickness, or your labor, or your child's breastfeeding habits, etc.)
Had my first OB appointment this morning and everything went great! Baby was measuring a day ahead so our "official" due date is now June 28! Whoo hoo! And it was really cute my doctor came in and was so excited to see us, and he told us that my RE had emailed him over the weekend to tell him I was coming - which I thought was super nice. We got another ultrasound and baby was moving around like crazy! It was so weird to see but also pretty cool!

spearmintleaf I was on Diclegis with my last pregnancy and it didn't do anything for me...but, I also had horrendous MS, so nothing worked. If you decide to try it I hope it works better for you!

Same here. Suddenly because I'm having my own baby, people think I care about theirs. Nope! Don't need to see a zillion pictures of your granddaughter, thanks!
So even though I passed 2 out of the 3 hours for the GTT they are still going to diagnose me with GD because supposedly my fasting number was 1 higher than they like to see. I can see all my test results and it falls within the range posted (except hour #2) so I don't understand why. Hopefully he'll explain more when I have my next appointment. So I have to go pick up all the supplies, have a sit down to learn how to test my blood sugar and then also meet with the nutritional nurse. Ugh!

Sorry Here you have to pass 3 of the 4 draws (fasting and the 3 hourly draws) so that sounds right to me if I'm understanding right and you failed one of the hourly and the fasting. My clinic has started early testing so I have mine at 14 weeks and I'm super nervous.
Has anyone tried rebozo sifting? My midwife suggested it for back pain, then my chiro brought it up yesterday because my stomach is really tight. She did it for me and it felt aaammmaaaazing
I'm sorry Lms this is my biggest fear over the holiday season. I believe Susie (on GP) and G22 both had GD so I am sure they can offer some assistance if you need any ideas, commiseration, etc.

So sorry, lms. I failed 2 of the 4 draws as well (fasting counts as one of the data points). Luckily, after monitoring my blood sugar for a little over a week all of my numbers were perfectly fine, so now I just have to check 2x/day every other day. And I've experimented a bit with deviating from the diet, and it doesn't seem to affect my readings. I hope you find it easy to manage as well! GP had lots of good advice for me when I posted about it.
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!
babyrn that's what confuses me about all this. My fasting number was 96 and the reference range online for the results says it should be between 70-100. When I talked to the nurse this morning she said they "like to see 95 or under." So I can only assume that they look for a different number depending on what you are taking the test for and the generic reference range doesn't apply for pregnant women. I hope you pass with flying colors!
shoeless I remember G22 did have it but I forgot about Susie. I may have to reach out to them and get some ideas. I know of 1 or 2 girls I work with that recently had babies and had GD as well so between all of them I should get some good ideas on making it through the next 15 weeks.
ETA belovedbride07 that's good to know that they dropped the testing to 2x a week. Hopefully I'll get as lucky. I'm just worried about the diet. I'm such a picky eater as it is that I don't know what's going to be left for me to eat.
lms yeah, they probably use a different reference range for pregnant women. I know my office wants fasting below either 90 or 95, but lots of offices are different. Just like my cbc came back with my white blood cells as high but they are actually in the normal range for a pregnant woman. I'm sorry, that sucks you were so close
My main worry right now is being able to keep the drink down since I am throwing everything up. It will be interesting.
