Yeah, what the fuck is this? And there's some other board? LOLOL that this "used to be different." No, it fucking didn't. We did this in about 2008/2009 as well, back on the fucking Nest, when there was the May 06 board for some people and the February 05 board or something for some others, etc.
This board has always been like this. There is nothing new under the sun.
It was different. The stuff that is tolerated now wouldn't have been at the start. The Cons aren't pulling this out of their asses. Also there have been questionable things said about black folk's. The only difference is we roll deep and ain't finna let shit go.
Truth. As for the things being posted in here about race v climate change. I still can't put anything together that doesn't sound like "F you" so yeah. Please know so many are listening.
No. Im out. I am, after all, a man. And white. Anything I say will be privileged mansplaining. I am simply unable to comprehend these topics because I am so high in the sky on my wonder cloud of privilege, and so white my skin is like the snow.
So I will shut the hell up and float away....
Wish granted. No hard feelings from me
Have a great Christmas!
Dude, please don't go all condescending and martyr-out. Listen. LISTEN to what people are saying to your comments. Please.
Nope. I think i might go off in a huff instead...commence huff in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....HUFF

That's a great plan. Don't listen to what anyone has to say. That's a great way to handle the situation.
Way to go.
Why listen when you are white and a man? No need to worry about it now or with your future generations who may take on positions that put others at risk simply for the color of their skin.

You know, this irks the hell out of me. You come in drop your Shit and roll off in the sunset.
Take your Damn lumps playa. I can't STAND when people do this because it's cowardly. Say what you mean and then defend your Shit.

It comes down to this for me. My city is not going to sink tomorrow, but there will be people of color experiencing prejudice (or worse) in my city tomorrow. So while I consider climate change an urgent issue, racism has real, terrible consequences daily for millions of Americans.

Sorry to irk you - would answer, but don't want to mansplain. Also, huffing atm.

"Not gonna lie; I kind of keep expecting you to post one day that you threw down on someone who clearly had no idea that today was NOT THEIR DAY." ~dontcallmeshirley
Of course most liberals can't imagine supporting a racist candidate who was otherwise liberal. Being in favor of human rights is one of the most basic principles of the left. It influences almost all views and policies on the Dem/Liberal side. I can't conceive of a person whom I would agree with in almost all ways except for that one, because THAT ONE is just so damn important. Equality on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc, etc is my most important issue. It is why I am so staunchly pro-choice, feminist, pro-BLM, pro-justice reform, pro-same sex marriage, pro-equal protection - you name it. Put it all together and that's almost my entire political identity.
That said, it appears that most straight-ticket R voters these days do not prioritize those things. Tillie included. Hence why the entire conversation surprises me not at all.
Additionally, we can complain all we want that we need more Rs on the board, but Tillie is the type of R who is voting for Republicans these days. The majority of the conservatives on this board do not vote straight ticket, and some don't even identify as Republican anymore. So no, most people don't really want more Republicans around. You want origami, Y4M, KateAggie, HABs and LadyDisdain to come around and play more.
It also takes a certain level of intelligence and critical thinking to vote third party. And many, many voters (and non-voters) don't possess that. Trump voters AND Bernie Bros.
I BROKE MY DAMN KEYBOARD AND CANT TURN THE CAPS OFF NOW, EVEN MY GODDAMN SURFACE IS PISSED THE FUCK OFF Y'ALL GOT ALL MY LIFE STUCK IN THE CAPS ZONE RIGHT NOW
On my phone, but can someone post that Who You Finna Try gif? CAPS CAPS CAPS CAPS

Also, what the fuck would a single candidate do about climate change anyway? I mean, really. You think Ricky Hitler is going to fucking fix the planet? Man, he's a fucking crazy person who wants us to all get more guns to round up abortion doctors and black people. Stop it.
Well yeah, if you imprison anyone who disagrees with you, I GUESS you could push through any legislation you want. *-)
Why are people trying to rank this stuff? Lives vs the environment. Wtf is this? Are we really unable to work on the environment while keeping black people from getting gunned down. This false dichotomy is dumb. Please make it stop.
Girl, you know we ain't never been important. Hell, we straight tripping. Unless you are making a mix-tape with some Beyonce.

See, some of you laughed at my space ship plans earlier in the thread. But now you are thinking, "hmm. Solves the problem of global warming AND racism..."
For the last time, I'm not even asking for the board to change. That ship sailed long ago. So long ago that @bunnybean can't even remember how it used to be. So don't with the "here we go again," call. Because that's not what's going on here, not for me.
This is the board. I will still post here, just likely not in political posts. Hell, I'm not even an R anymore, so don't bother paging me for "other side" takes. 'Cause I'm officially no side. Things change. I'm gonna just roll with it. And, yeah, sometimes I'm gonna roll my eyes, too. Whatever. It's as close as I come to Kumbaya.
What is all this ::::::waves hands around:::: about a cons vs. black posters thing? @nitax, @malcolmxx, 1234FIF!
No. Black folks aren't - to my knowledge - mad at Cons nor did did they say something untoward black folks. My knowledge is that Cons have repeatedly said they are tired of being told they are the devil because they vote conservative. They've also found that the debate isn't on the merits of their argument, so they got tired and left.
But, let it be clear, it wasn't black folk going in because something racist was said.
Now, I can't vouch for what's happening with Reeve. Because he will likely leave again because Black folks caling bullshit made him cry and take his toy soldiers home.

No. He's anti-war. Ball(s), yes. Soldiers,.no.
See, he's a man and all, so certainly he must play with these ...
I mean, if you're gonna be a smart alec with all your manly, mainsplaining, you must have these in the closet.

Well now I'm feeling left out for not being tagged. Harrumph.
Trump is not a conservative. This isn't about social policies. If he wants to officiate gay marriages, that would endear him to me. Maybe.
No. He supports progressive tax plans and high spending. His base are uneducated, low-earning, racist, bigoted, white people (can I say white trash or is that term off limits?). He's pro big government. He has no discernible values. He's a parody of the worst stereotypes of Republicans without any of the policies.
I may be a moderate, but my father is not. He's a bright, thoughtful conservative who takes his stances by looking at what he believes will be best for the country in the long run. He is flabbergasted by Trump. He supports Rubio.
Republican politicians have jumped ship by appealing to the lowest common denominator. Like @oscarjulie , I would have hoped they had learned their lesson when the Rs list a bunch of solid seats. I'm still really bitter about Lugar. He was one of the best, most respected senators. Of either party. He had crazy seniority. He made Indiana matter in congress. And the stupid primary voters ousted him for an unelectable moron.
The Republican Party is becoming less and less conservative, which is not a good thing.
OK, I'm done with my annual viewing of Love Actually (best Christmas movie ever), so I'll respond to a few things:
- Yes, I personally engage with other groups and individuals to get my political freak on. I'm pretty sure other non-libs do, too. I'm pretty sure libs have other places besides this board where they hang out, dissect, critique, etc. I know there's at least one FB group (and I don't belong to at least one of them) where posters from here interact. It wouldn't surprise me if I'm being dissected right now in a few spin-off chats, PMs, or boards. So stop with the OMGZ there are secret boards other than here stuff... c'mon, now. I can't get my political shit on here, so I go elsewhere. It's fine, and I get what I need out of it. As KateAggie said, rolling right along. ETA: @bunnybean Velar Fricativepennypenny
- NewOrleans , I'm not trying to go in on you, though I did mention you as someone who will give me a call-out once in a while for an alternate perspective. While I get why, it just reminds me each time that - oh yeah, I guess my perspective might be of use, too bad not regularly. Again, that's the way it has shaken out. I've actually enjoyed taking a fairly thorough break for the last few weeks, and I find if I ever do let myself enter political threads I give myself undue high BP, so I don't. Also I didn't recall who had started the #notextremists hashtag, but that was yet another quick snark post folks would use to call out cons as a whole, and it got old for me.
- I agree we've hit the semi-annual Flight of the Cons recap (I like that reference @dontcallmeshirley1 , so I'm borrowing it briefly...) which is both inevitable and frustrating, and I totally feed it. Yes, yes I do. Call it nostalgia. But that leads me to the next point...
- I agree with 1234FIF! that this is precisely what Donald-Asshole-Trump and others of his ilk want - derisive division. We're human and can't wholly avoid it, but we're also all fucking intelligent adults who have a desire to reason things out and find the answers. So I see the potential of what we could do together, and know we won't do it because we can't do it together because hyperbole and shit. I'm guilty, but I've got company.
Anyway, I use this board for the non-political threads and to post fun GIFs. And with that, maybe we've reached the GIF portion of yet another seasonal epic CEP thread.

Just leave it at bigoted. I feel very strongly about using slurs. I consider the term to be a slur and I don't use it. If I'm going to police usage of the N-word, I do the same for everything else.
Meh my iPad is acting up... Trying to sa that at any rate I am sorry for upsetting you, especially enough to leave.
Just replying directly to this after my last post - it wasn't you specifically. Not at all. Blame it on the board evolution. Things change, and move around. We'll always have non-political threads and Facebook.
