I've got two other friends in the lottery, once we see who gets in the hotel fun will start. All I know is I'll be fighting to stay along a metro line somewhere.
I can offer up Friday night at my house to anyone if flying into BWI is cheaper or if you wanted to fly out of BWI either Monday night or Tuesday (I plan on staying in DC Sunday night if I get in)
It sounds like you live near me. I am in AACo, not far from the airport.

The hotel I have booked is very close to Farragut West metro station - is this a decent location?

It is only a couple metro stops from the starting line, shouldn't be too bad.

I haven't even thought about accommodations for fear that I'll jinx myself. If I do get in, the plan is to stay in a hotel. I haven't done any research what some ever on where to stay, so this thread is pretty helpful. I guess I can start thinking about it Thursday if I'm lucky!

TRUST ME! I struggled with this too. But I ultimately decided to book, thinking that once Thursday comes, the few remaining rooms will be gone.

I forgot to book last year until a couple months before. Most of crystal city was gone but we stayed in the cambria which was on the website. It wasn't close to the start or finish but I was easily able to access the metro and it was super easy to get to and from the start/finish. Luckily DC has a lot of hotels and the metro opens at 5 making race day navigation easy.
Any interest in joining in on the GTG fun? We are all friendly, honest.
Yes, definitely! I might be doing this solo, and i'd love to meet up!
Cool! I'll probably be solo as well. before Charleston a bunch of the ladies friended me on Facebook so it wasn't completely weird and we weren't total strangers. PM me if you want to do that and I'll give you my real name.

I'm 98% sure I'll be solo - can I get in on this too?
Also, I keep going back and forth about booking a hotel in Crystal City (even though @vtcupcake was already awesome enough to say I could crash at her place!). That way if H does decide to come, I won't have to scramble to get one, and if not, I won't have to be ashamed to go to bed at 8pm. I know the hotels are on the website, but does anyone have a recommendation for any of them?

Totally! PM me and I'll give you my name. I got a room that I can cancel up until the day before. I'm over in Downtown, but I figured it's only 2 stops from the start on the metro.

I'll friend you too! Pm me. I'm getting so excited about this, I better get in I booked Hilton crystal city bc it looked to be close to the shuttle, and I can cancel later if need be. I know nothing about DC, so just playing it by ear and am open to suggestions. LOL to bed by 8 am. I see no issue with that.
I hate big races. Philly sucked. Mcm is like twice the size, right?
At this point, I am telling myself that if I don't get in, it's the universe telling me that I shouldn't run it. So, I wouldn't buy a bib.
But your situation is totally different, lol.
Yeah
Im feeling better about running lately. I might be out of my funk. But i dont know. I mean, my long run coming up is 13 miles. Thats not exactly marathon prep.

I'm on vacation this week, so I'm not checking the boards much and I just saw this post! DH and I are both hoping to run the marathon, but I think our guest room is going to be taken up by grandparent babysitters.

You'd be able to transfer easily
I think if you include the half Wikipedia tells me that Philly has about 8,000 more total runners than MCM. I liked MCM much better than Philly. I felt like the Philly crowd support dwindled after the half split, but the only point in MCM where there wasn't support was on the bridge into Crystal City.

I hated all the spectators at philly
LOL! Then why are you even in this thread? Get buzzed and spectate.
