agreed. I didn't get in last year & bought one during the transfer. It was pretty easy.
So it's basically whatever someone wants to charge me for their bib, plus the transfer fee is what I'd pay?
Well, yes. I paid the bib fee ($135 or $140) to the person who was transferring their bib to me. I paid them via paypal. THen i paid MCM the transfer fee - approximately $50. I'm guessing someone could offer to transfer their bib for less than they paid...but I paid the regular registration fee

Thank you! That's what I was figuring but I just wanted to make sure!
Ok guys.. I've been staying out of this thread until now because I had no intention of doing MCM. But I'm considering the 10k. I'm a little confused about this logistics GTG-wise, can someone clue me in? Are some people staying together and some people just doing their own thing and meeting up for cheering, food, and drinks?
AKA would I need to book a hotel, or is there somewhere I can sleep without having to do any major planning? Because I'm a lazy planner.
jordylee, I think people are doing their own thing. I've booked a hotel somewhere near a metro stop. I'll be flying in Friday, so I'm up for whatever. Pasta dinner on Saturday? Sure! Post-race drink? Definitely!
jordylee its not particularly organized, like @cheshire said, we l just sort of booked hotels. Many of us with extra space if you need a place to crash and dont feel like doing any crazy planning.
jordylee, there is definitely extra space. My H and I will likely have an extra room you can stay in, and I know others have offered space/sharing hotel rooms as well. You should come!!
jordylee, we probably should do a little more coordinating, but those of us in the area have extra rooms and there are some folks staying closer to the race in hotels. I also suggest a pre-race meet up/lunch/dinner so we can all get together.

Bring on the PASTA! OMG I am so excited about this trip.
jordylee you can either book a hotel or find a spot with a local. It's really up to you and what you want to do.
All of us locals are offering up space as we have it. I only have space for one and fuckyourcouch has claimed it. But a few others have offered up spaces for people that want to stay. I don't think they are all taken. @vtcupcake, had a few spaces, I think.
No huge GTG has been planned other than running the race and cheering afterwards, but I imagine as we get closer, we will figure out ways for everyone to meet up whether it is at someone's place or at a restaurant. I'm sure hoping that I will get to see everyone! I'm so excited that you guys are coming to DC. This is going to be awesome!

One of my friends is trying to convince me to run Richmond again instead of MCM. I can't run MCM and Richmond two weeks apart, can I? Every other time I've done it, they've been 3 weeks apart. 2 weeks seems too soon. Tell me what to do!

I'm probably running the half at Richmond. So do mcm full and then the half!

I have done 2w apart and been fine. I did nothing in those 2w b/w. Aren't you doing Chicago though? B/c 3 in 6/7 weeks might be a bit more nuts. I am planning on doing an ultra and marathon 2w apart. It worries me, but I have the drop to the half/10k/5k option. MCM is a month after that I think... So you could wait to see if I survive before attempting. Lol, j/k. I'm sure you would be fine. Recovery from a marathon is much easier when you've done a bunch already, and you don't have to run them all all out.

How about you get your friend to run MCM?
Ha! Good idea, but she's already run in a few times, so I think she wants to do something different this year.

This makes me feel better. I agree with you about recovery, especially if I run MCM at training pace. That's what I did last year, and I felt good afterwards. I didn't really feel any worse than I did after my longest training run. Yes, I'm planning to run Chicago, too. I have a problem. #marathonaddict
Well, I just booked a hotel room in Richmond, just in case. I'll hold off on registering for the race until later.
I'm running Richmond marathon, and doing the MCM 10K. Not a badass like you Wines Not Whines.
I am planning on trying to BQ again at Richmond. Now I just need to decide whether I want to race the 10K or not. I'll probably be posting this question 6 months from now.
I started a spreadsheet on this; let me dig it out...
Awesome! Way to have initiative!!
OK... so I can't take credit entirely. I used lb2006 's spreadsheet as a template. (lb2006 : is it okay to share the location on here? That way people can let me know the updates and I can make them?) I want to make sure it will only be viewable by people who have permission since it has our real names and email addresses.
I'm in! I didn't get in, but I have a hotel booked and I'm going to get a flight and do a bib transfer. It's been a bucket list marathon, so it just makes sense!
