Are you moving or coming to visit PVD?! The little monument on Rochambeau is pretty sad in PVD, we need to spruce it up.
We're most likely moving to New England when I finish my degree, which is still a few years away. We were looking at CT because that's where my dad is but Providence is also a contender. Just trying to get a feel for jobs and cost of living.
Feel free to PM me about PVD, I have lived in the city for 7 years but am not native. The city is great but the job situation is most decidedly NOT great. I was done with my job and it took me a year to find a new job at about a 45 minute commute and my H works in Boston. City is extremely affordable but public schools within the city limits are atrocious. Rents were pretty cheap when i first moved here at the height of the recession (back in fall 2009) but they have been trending upwards and downcity is kind of expensive now (for PVD).

My 2.5 year old is so manipulative. He asks me at bedtime last night to listen to Hamilton. I have only tried to play it for him in the car twice, and both times he told me to turn it off, and neither was recent.

I think I have convinced H too. I told him I don't want this to be a regret like never seeing Prince live. I think that convinced him. But he keeps asking how much tickets are and I keep saying A LOT. LOL
Having searched 1 million dates, I think the Thursday 7pm show is the cheapest and $600+ a seat.

I was in Barnes and Noble earlier killing time before I had to pick up #2 from preschool. I stopped in the ladies' room before I left and in came this woman who was full-on belting out "Satisfied" like she was auditioning for American Idol (complete with missed lyrics and pitch problems ). I heard her coming from down the hall so she must have been doing it through the whole store.

I finally listened to the soundtrack on my plane ride to Detroit. We are in agreement that It's Quiet Uptown is the saddest song ever? Cue me wiping snot all over my hands in my seat!
I bought season tickets so we can guarantee seeing it in 2017, but I'm also kinda sort of strategizing to see if there's a way we can see it in New York. Ha ha.
I don't even like musical soundtracks. Like I have the Wicked soundtrack automatically because I bought my parents the CD, but I'm not really one for listening to "show tunes." I think it's because they seem to rarely advance the plot, but in this case, they ARE the plot. I'm trying not to wear out its awesomeness but I feel like I pick up a little bit more each time!

Now go down the rabbit hole of the annotated lyrics posted on page 1 or 2 of this thread and prepare to be even more amazed.

My husband keeps on walking into me crying over It's Quiet Uptown and is miffed that I keep on listening to it.
I can't even listen to any of the songs with Philip because I find them even sadder.
Dear Theodosia kills me too. Both fathers outlive the babies they're singing to. Theodosia was lost at see going to visit her father. No one knows what happened to the ship.

I think Yorktown is my favorite right now just because of this part:
See, that’s what happens when you up against the ruffians We in the shit now, somebody gotta shovel it! Hercules Mulligan, I need no introduction When you knock me down I get the fuck back up again!
And then I love the musical bridge(?) that comes right after it.
My new life goal is to learn one Hamilton song really well so I can CRUSH IT in karaoke! LOL.
Thanks to those that posted where I can listen to it. I've been wondering. There's no way I'll be able to ever see it on stage.
Once you inevitably fall down the rabbit hole and Hamilton becomes your new life, youtube the ham4ham videos. It's a good way to get to see all of the performers. They're phenomenal.
Also if you get as deep as I have fallen, you can read the lyrics here and they're all annotated. It's incredible what Lin-Manuel did, truly. The notes that he made himself are in green and it's so cool to read his thoughts behind it all.

"What time is it?" "SHOWTIME!"
My girls rock out to that song every day in the van - and pretty soon, I think Molly is going to know more about Hamilton than me. I let her follow along with the CD jacket and yesterday she sad, "Woah. There's a lot of really bad words in there but I love it so much!"
When I walk back and forth between my bedroom and bathroom while getting ready in the morning, I try to time it so I walk through the door when George Washington is introduced.
We are outgunned. Out-manned. Out-numbered. And out of toothpaste.

Here comes the general. The pride of Mount Laundry.

Here is where I tell you that I listened to Guns and Ships and Washington on Your Side exclusively on repeat on the round trip drive to my parents' house (3 hours total) just so that I would know every single word to both.
You know, should one day I need to burst out into a rap about the Marquis de Lafayette.
So perhaps this is where I admit I got the soundtrack CDs for my birthday - OVER A MONTH AGO - and have listened to nothing else ever in the car? (I was already hooked before the gift).
I can sing every Eliza or Angelica song front to back, and rap all of Satisfied under my breath multiple times a day. I also sing and have just added "Burn" to my performance book.
I also performed both Cabinet battles with my vocal coach last week.

I have never wished I could sing more than when I started listening to Hamilton. I WANT TO BELT IT OUT AND NOT BE EMBARRASSED (well, I do when I've had a goodly amount of wine, but I probably should be embarrassed, lol).
