And chris jackson left nothing in the table for One Last Time. Each of the main characters songs brings them to the front of the stage toward the end. Chris belted out those last few notes so strong i thought he would levetate.
And Eliza was very good. I love Burn and while her emotion was not as raw as pippa was for me in the recording (you, you, yoouuuuu)....her voice is solid.

I love all these updates!!!
I trust that the directors aren't going to pick crappy replacements. So I'm hopeful that they'll find someone with as much charisma as DD!!!!
I've heard the staging for Hurricane is truly amazing! No matter how many times you hear a soundtrack, there's just nothing like seeing it all come together!!!
Cast looks fabulous! Thanks for sharing your experiences :-)
It really is unlike any theater performance I have ever seen. Dd dropped the mic during CB #1. The story is just developed so much more through the production. It. Is. So. Fast. They move things on and off that stage at lightening speed. It will be full of furniture and then nothing in like 5 sec. They use every inch of the stage and the turntable. Fake slow motion, freezing, lighting, the choreography....you don't even know where to look sometimes. One Last Time and Satisfied were unbelievable live. Dd was one fire too during Guns and Ship and washington on your side. The new Eliza and Burr did not disappoint either. And while it would have been great to see LMM, Javier was fantastic. I am blabbing and not scratching the surface but it is an amazing as made to be.

Thanks so much for the reports! Living vicariously.... until I go myself

What did you end up wearing to the show?
Did you buy any fun merchandise?
They will not pick a crappy replacement. I remember reading a thread on Reddit and this girl almost cried bc there were several replacements in when she went to the show. I just can't imagine feeling this way. We saw a mix of old and new and the whole experience is just so great outside of individual performances.
I wore a maxi. I read that they crank the air up and to bring a cardigan if you are cold natured. It is HOT in NYC right now. I repeat. It is HOT lol. I should've worn a short sundress. It definitely leans on the casual side. Guys around me were in shorts and tshirts. I feel like you're fine however which way you want to go.
I got a Hamilton mug and tee. They threw in a button with the purchase and it's a "love is love is love" button <3

It really was amazing to me how (1) they used the stage and (2) everyone was literally moving through the entire thing. Like, you learn and appreciate and love the music but seeing the show makes me realize that just as much work went into the staging and choreography.
I talked to my brother (who I got hooked on the soundtrack) and he was surprised that there really isn't much in the dialogue between the songs because he didn't see how some would transition well. Again, it's the insane staging and choreography that makes it all work.

I just finished reading the Hamiltome this morning and was amazed by all the planning that went into staging. It helped me visualize things better while listening to the soundtrack.

This all makes me feel a little better. But I'll feel a lot better once someone here sees it sans DD and still has great things to say😉
I'm also shocked it was more casual. I just assumed Broadway was pretty fancy. DH will be happy to know that. I may let him wear nice shorts and a button up. I like the maxi idea with a cardigan. Of course we're not going until May so I'll forget all this by then!

My shirts. We also got two drink cups, which are surprisingly nice enough to keep and actually use. They had all kinds of things and it was hard to decide what to pick. I felt the room where it happens one to buy at the actual theater was the right choice.

I agree with all of this. The mic drop was amazing and you could tell DD was having such a great time. He would giggle and seem totally embarrassed every time he would get these long applauses right when he would come out on stage. He blew some kisses towards the audience for the love. They pushed him out at the end several times for applause and it felt never ending. My hands hurt so much from clapping. I had tears during the first three songs just out of pure happiness and amazement. I'm still on a high from seeing it.
Sydney was great as Burr. I haven't seen LOJ, obviously, but Sydney came off as a very sexy Burr and it doesn't hurt that he's hot AF. We didn't get to see Lexi as Eliza but Carleigh did well. We both thought she came into the role and her voice, the longer the show went on. She does a lot of the Hamilton snapchat so when I saw the playbill I was all, I know her! Javier was great. Definitely nothing negative to say there. I also see why he gets called the 'sexier Hamilton'. Say No To This had me feeling some kind of way about him after it was over. The lighting/stage was so amazing during hurricane. I like the song, but I loved the performance of the song. Rory was so damn good and really hams it up with the audience. He gets a lot of laughs. It's crazy how much he sounds like Groff.
Chris Jackson and Renee both blew us away (I know). I looked over at my H after satisfied and he was just mouthing 'wow' over and over lol. One Last Time and Satisified got huge applause.
I kept hearing, 'don't get seats all the way to the side'. Welp, that's what we had. Row B seats 25 and 27 in the left rear mezz and they were great. We didn't miss a thing. They really don't lie when they say there's no bad seat in the house. I thought they were perfect.
Sorry this is all just a lot of rambling but it was such a great show. I'm so glad we did this and DD was totally worth all of the craziness. Now off to explore NYC for a day before we head back home!
THESE WERE MY SEATS LAST WEEK! Well we were 23 and 25!

I got the Schuyler sisters and the "How Lucky We are" shirts. It was such a hard choice!

I can not wait to go in January! I'm already starting to think of what I should wear, mainly because I live in SC and it's usually between 45-70 degrees, so I know I don't have anything warm enough to wear if we'll be standing outside for a long time. Suggestions?
I spent the afternoon cooking, eating, and drinking with my mother while listening to Hamilton. She loves it. I guess this makes up for MH being immune to its charms.
I saw a video of last night's bow and how they had to push DD up front for an extra bow. I just love how humble this whole cast has been.
One thing I wonder is if this is the first time people have gotten so attached to certain actors in roles in a show. I mean, it's so common for actors to leave after a year or so on a show, so this is totally normal, but I don't know if a show has ever had so much publicity (media, social media, etc) where the public has ever had a chance to grow accustomed to certain actors in a specific role. I think Spring Awakening had a little bit of this, especially with Groff and Lea Michelle, but social media wasn't what it is today so I wonder how it compares. You'd see the actors perform on the Tonys, maybe some tv shows/parades (I know there are videos of In the Heights on the View and in the Macy's parade, for instance) but you never really saw a ton of videos of actors in roles like we do now - especially with ham4ham and snapchat, etc.

I'm making my parents listen to it now, too. My mom has been getting her groove on listening to it. Success!
I'm in the office today working on a massive presentation for tomorrow. I have the PPT on one monitor, and the West Wing on the other...since LMM watched it while working on Hamilton, I figured I'd watch it while working on this presentation.
My husband is now into it. He knows rap well (at least 80s/90s) and keeps playing me the original things that Lin references. It's so cool.
I cannot wait to see it in January. I'm trying to figure out a way to go sooner.
Yesterday when we got in the car, Juicy was on ("throwback" hip hop station). DS is 4. He said "this is Alexander Hamilton!" It wasn't even the "if you don't know, now you know" part. So I don't know if he really picked up on the beat, or he just thinks all hip-hop/rap is Hamilton at this point in time.
