I have officially converted H. Last night I overhear him singing the "da da da da das" in his office. I walked by and he turns and asked me why nobody talks about the king when they talk about the show. And then I did a victory lap.
haha I was SO THRILLED when I converted H on this. And it's actually a great question - no one talks about this part. And then you see it and wonder WHY because Rory is amazing and his songs are such an awesome part of the show. SaveSave
I like to think that no one talks about it so that its a delightful surprise/easter egg when you actually get to see the show. It was for sure a fun surprise to see Rory kill it when I wasn't expecting it to be so funny.
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
I prefer this version 100% more than the crappy Jimmy Fallon version on the mixtape. I get that his band is The Roots, but I thought his stupid version was unfunny.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
The cast of Hamilton and LMM are trolling Mike Pence with this, right? (and yes, i entered because I will basically give money to anything LMM asks me to)
I assume this charity was chosen because of LMM's mom, she seems like such an awesome person. I entered and I don't even want to win. Ok, maybe a little bit.
I'm surprised about JCJ. I think it was last week she posted that she was still in the show. Usually they give a warning! I wonder why her last show is a Thursday anyway?

I'm happy to support the cause, but I totally want to win.

And like no notice, which is so weird. I wonder if she got some other gig last minute or something.

I hate Jimmy Fallon's version. I skip it every time.

I wish they had brought in James Corden. That way you still get someone funny but also someone who can actually sing well. Or maybe Hugh Laurie since I think I read that he was the one who originally inspired the idea for the song.

That's true! It's a note in the Hamiltome. Plus Hugh can sing. His King George from Black Adder was awesome.
I am a little surprised they didn't go with Corden, since he's got the stage background and the voice. But it does make sense with the Roots connection and LMM and Fallon seem to be friendly.

I don't fully understand the beginning of Jimmy Fallon's version. What's with the heavy breathing?
Once he gets going I like it.
My favorites are Wrote my Way Out, Immigrants, Cabinet Battle 3, and It's Quiet Uptown. And I love Say Yes To this (hot!), Congratulations, and My Shot.
Both versions of Dear Theodosia are beautiful, as is History has its eyes on You.

I love The Roots. The bass in this CD is amazing.
I think he was trying to be funny. It falls flat, to say the least.
I love the demo songs. Even the songs that got cut from Hamilton are amazing!
It's really great, all around. But what really sticks out to me... The Mixtape really demonstrates how FANTASTIC the OBC members are. The OBC certainly hold their own (and IMO, sometimes exceed) the Mixtape artists. Sia and Queen Latifah are great on Satisfied, but Renee did all that herself - and killed it!
(maybe I'm still partial to the original because I know all those songs and can sing along. I'm not there yet with the mixtape. )

I am like two weeks behind you guys, but I just got my mixtape last night and got just past Say Yes To this! OMG, Jill Scott is amazing. I love hearing the valley forge demo and the other cut songs from the play, but i do agree with whoever said its not as much as a mixtape as it is a cover CD. which is fine.

They were all SO NICE. way more than they needed to be. Totally patient and kind - selfie and signature for anyone who asked. The girl next to me smeared her luwoye signature accidentally and I got his attention before he moved on and he came back and signed again, plus drew a funny doodle over the smear.
Jealous!!! Any tips on getting to meet them? Do you just hang out at the stage door?
Only 12 days til I'm in the room where it happens! I cannot wait!!!
We went from the orch section immediately outside and were right up front. When you walk towards the stage door, stay on the left (closest to the theater entrance) even if you have to stand immediately behind someone, because they go to the part first. We were all the way left, so the first to greet each of them, and got to chat a little while they signed and took pics with everyone around us. They have their own sharpies. Be nice to the bouncers and cops working the door and they will gladly give you info.
OK, I finally listed to the Mixtape enough to weigh in.
Quiet Uptown is much better when you hear it from the beginning versus the snippet we got before. It's a pretty song, and I like the beginning. However, it is missing the absolute gut wrenching pain of the original. I think someone other than Kelly Clarkson probably could have conveyed more emotion. I feel like It Would Be Enough is the opposite, more emotion less musical quality (for lack of a better term).
Fallon's song sucks. It reminds me of bad bar karaoke. Why did they let him do that?!
Immigrants is by far my favorite, but I don't understand why he is basically whispering at the beginning. I have to crank it up to hear him and then usually just leave it blasting for the rest of the song. Who Tells Your Story a close second. Satisfied is good too but needs more Queen Latifah.
I really wish they had used a second person to do Cabinet Battle #3. It's missing the necessary back and forth and it's hard to tell which lines belong to each character unless you're really paying attention.

Saw Hamilton in NYC last night. It was so good. And we got two Hamiltons for the price of one...Javier was Hamilton for the first half of the show. They didn't say why, but Michael Luwoye took over in the second half. Otherwise, it was all the main cast, no understudies. I already want to see it again!
