I can't tell if you're joking or not. I posted earlier this week about my ILs supporting Trump and how we feel attacked when we are near them. My BIL and GIL have shouted that Hillary is going to jail, people who vote for her support terrorism, and any non trump supporters don't want to make America great again (FIL)
The last time I went to their house Dh's step grandmother put a trump sign in her window. I've told my DH that my kids nor myself will be stepping foot into that house with that sign in the window. It's actually a real source of anxiety for me that I don't like to talk about because I love my ILs otherwise. I've started limiting contact because they always talk about how people aren't respecting cops or supporting them. My mom keeps telling me to let it go because those are his parents even if they have shitty views due to their clouded judgement.
With that being said I voted HRC in 2008 and 2016 primary as well as will be in the general election. All these IRL Trump supporters are going on my personal spreadsheet.
Also, not gonna lie. Between the two polls, the "it's going to be a blue state anyway" are freaking me out.

This is me. Virginia is a swing state and I am terrified of what might happen. I have never felt so violently ill thinking about any other person possibly winning the presidency as I have this year.

15 people are voting for Trump? And over 20 SOs are planning to vote for him? :-# See this is exactly what worries me about this election. You would not get the idea there are this many Trump supporters just from going by the political threads on these boards. The Trump supporters are very quiet. It worries me that there might be a lot of secret Trumpers out there who tell the world one thing and then will turn around and do the opposite.
I absolutely agree that not voting is horrible. I am just not convinced it's as horrible as voting for Trump if someone is absolutely unwilling to consider any option other than those two.
I agree.
You know, I used to think not voting was awful. However, after this cycle, I could see why clusters of people (mainly of color) don't vote. If you've been disenfranchised, have next to no representation in the highest levels of government, and if lawmakers give next to no fucks if you live or die, why the hell would you vote? So you can continue to keep making next to no progress in life? For the damn sticker? If your voice isn't being heard, why bother?
I admit that I will never know the deeply entrenched level of disenfranchisement that so many people of color experience, so maybe my judgment is clouded by that. But racist white assholes are going to vote, and if they're the only ones who bother to do it then we're going to have President Trump busy moving Muslims into ghettos and deporting Hispanics and labeling Jews and starting WW3.

my friend lives in England. Last night she told me about her friend who voted leave to keep the % down so that when they stayed, they would have better negotiating power with Europe. Don't vote with some secondary reason. Don't strategically vote.
Low voter turnout won my state a lot of crazy republicans that earned us national coverage as a failed experiment. Vote for the lesser of two evils if you must. Not voting is just as bad.
So much this. I cringe when people say that they will just not vote. No, go and do a damn write in or vote the lesser of the two evils. But do not stay at home. We will end up with the sociopath if people stay home.
But the question was specifically whether it is worse to not vote or to vote for Trump. How does voting for the sociopath help? I agree that voting for any alternative besides Trump is far preferable to staying home and would and have encouraged anyone in my life who expresses any concern about Trump to do that. I just think that if someone is absolutely not going to vote for Clinton or a third party and lives in a state that doesn't allow write-ins and is therefore at the point that they are deciding between Trump or not voting, then not voting may actually be the lesser of two evils when faced with that binary choice.
I have a question that I don't know how to ask without being offensive. But... I truly wonder what the 16 women who are voting for Trump get from hanging out on this board full of smart, strong women who are constantly talking about how to advocate for ourselves at home, work, life? What in the world is the draw here for a Trump supporter? Maybe they just hate read us. lol
Note: This is specific to Trump voters. Not anyone else.
Well apparently Ivanka says her dad is going to pay for daycare. lol for days.

That was such a weird speech to listen to. She did well, but was defitnitely touting some democratic ideals.

and this is exactly why I will most likely end up voting for HRC. I don't really want her anymore, but I SUPER don't want trump and in our state, nobody else is a real factor.
let's just hope NoVA and the college towns can carry the state.
DH came home last night and told me the lone woman on his job of 60 guys said if it's between shit and diarrhea she's going to pick shit. He said most of the ones he's friendly with agreed. They don't really like her but they really don't like trump more.
