I don't know if I will try to go natural again as it was really damaging to my hair, something that continues to puzzle me and my hair stylist.
my curl pattern is such that I have to be careful with how I handle it. It's honestly healthier, with fewer split ends and knots, when I keep it straightened or stretched. Ain't no washing and going over here.
Ok I'm not sure if I'm just an idiot for not doing this previously, but thought I'd share in case it helps someone else.
Yesterday after I put my leave in conditioner in I detangled again with a wide tooth comb. Today I'm really liking my curls! My hair is 4 whatever (really tight curls) so there's usually not a lot of definition but today there are some little curls. Also I feel like my hair is a little softer presumably since the conditioner was combed all through my hair.
So if you don't already, maybe try detangling again after you get out the shower

Does anyone have experience with henna? I'm starting to get white hairs and they tick me off, but I don't wanna dye my hair. I read that henna helps strengthen hair while giving it a reddish highlight. Is the maintenance as bad as regular dye?

I love henna. It is time consuming though. My favorite is Rajastani Twilight. The red is more burgundy. The henna I used to get was more orangey. You just have to make sure you are getting 100% henna. Here is where I usually buy it. www.mehandi.com

Thank you! I'll give it a go & see if it's more than I can manage right now.

Please update if you do it!
When I followed the hair blogs back when I first went natural I thought about doing henna but never pulled the trigger.
I tried a rod set. Didn't let it dry good enough but I had errands to run. Def see the potential. I probably used too much product too. Who knows. I will try again when I have more time to give to the effort.
I finally made an appointment to get 2 strand twist done. I'm going back to the same salon I went to last time even though at first I wasn't sure if I'd give them another try. But they're in my neighborhood and the pics they have of twists I like, so we'll see. I hope it's not $100 down the drain!

How did it go
It's tomorrow Thanks for asking. I'll check in afterwards!
Dammit! I keep meaning to take a pic but I'm barely ever home lol. (In an uber right now).
It came out well! The twists are smaller than I think I like but I'm happy with the results. I'll ask her to make them bigger next time. Plus I liked this stylist A LOT better, she was very personable and gave good hair tips. I scheduled a deep conditioner with her for Dec. So I think from now on I'm going to get my hair done every 2 months with her.
But sorry to disappoint with no pic I'll do my best to take one soon!
Finally a picture for those who asked! I just broke down and took it at work lol.I pinned it back on the sides starting yesterday and I like it even better now.

I Ike it! I mean what I can see of it--I thought I took covert pictures lol!
Reviving this thread for product recs. I haven't relaxed in three years, but have been wearing crochets, weaves, or goddess braids. This week my hair is out for the first time, and I don't even know what to do with it. I never did a big chop, so I kind of have a lot of thick hair. I have a super thin part right in the front, though. My stylist set it on flexi rods last week and it was super cute for like 3 days. Now it just looks like an unwieldy bush.
I want to keep leaving it out, but need something to soften and moisturize it. I have super thick, I think it's 4C, hair that doesn't hold any type of moisture. I've got to post and run as work is insane, so will be back later.
