I'm over my hair. I don't know what to do with it. I've been working out (yay) but my hair is wrecked after. I need a style that will hold up to swimming and running. I was so close to giving myself a fade yesterday. I'm so over fussing with my hair.
I work out (hot yoga mostly) about 4 times a week. I usually keep it in 2 2-stranded goddess twists. I love my salon but I wish they were closer to home instead of the office. My hair would love me more if I had like monthly salon pampering

I can't remember but what is your hair texture and length? I work out 6 days a week including swimming and I just exclusively do wash n gos now. I use a clarifying smampoo after swimming. Then, shea moisture conditioner. I put in a leave in conditioner, amla heavy cream and then either coconut or olive oil. I do this routine 3-4 times per week. I never thought I'd wash my hair so much! So far I think my hair is holding up well. I have very tight curls and it's about shoulder length when stretched.

Here is my first ponytail attempt. It took nearly 15 min to not look like an entire hot mess and it's still off center. I suspect attempting a bun in her hair would result in a similar look.
meshaliuknits, she looks so cute! I had dance pics this week with my dd and the bun was awful. It turned into a puff ball mid ride over to the studio. I am only glad my mom will be up and able to do it on the day of her recital.

Oh no!
Yeah I couldn't get it right enough. I love a puff so I was secretly glad her hair rebelled and I will get the official pics with my favorite hairstyle. For the actual recital I will follow the numerous directions 😊🙃😜

Have you tried a hairnet just around the bun? That's how I kept my curls in when I danced.
No, I never thought of that. I will get one and report back. Thanks!

I finally tried a three-strand twist out for the first time, and it came out so poppin fresh that I may need to break my no picture rule and share the results. I don't have wash and go hair, but this looked like how I would want my wash and go to look in an ideal world. Highly recommend!
I will when I do it again. I didn't take a picture this time.
Aww shucks! It's good you found a style that you can do with stellar results. I have yet to get there 😭
and just in time too, because I was losing enthusiasm for my natural hair after eight years. I just had to embrace having extra large hair. It makes me look thinner though, which is an unexpected benefit!

Definitely post pics next time. Do you do it yourself most of the time or go to a stylist?
I feel you on losing enthusiasm. I love that my hair has grown, but my hair is thick, and I was never really good at doing it. I have to drive an hour away to get it done or 2.5 hrs for braids. I'm sticking with it, but my last wash day, I had visions of hacking it off.

I haven't been to salon in eight years. It's crazy. I should probably find someone to do it, but I have no interest in sitting in a salon for half a day.
I actually cut it to shoulder length a few months ago, which has helped a lot. I'm going to grow it long again, but this time try to enjoy wearing it out instead of keeping it in a bun all the time.
Another thing I've learned is that I get far less breakage when I blow it out lightly before trying to style it. My curl pattern is so weird that trying to style it soaking wet just leads to breakage. It's super tight curls in some places and bone straight frizz in others. Just foolishness.

I know a salon if you're interested. They're normally pretty good about getting you in and out. Let me know, and I'll PM you.

I haven't been to the salon in ages either.
Wash and goes just make me lose hair cuz my hair is tangly as fuck. It looks cute but it tangles so badly and then the ends knot up. I bought one of those new hot brushes and it worked nicely on a low-medium setting to not straighten my hair but make it slightly less tangly. Somehow I found it a bit easier than blow drying my hair. It certainly was faster.
can you share a link to the hot brush when you get a chance?
I am so done with my hair right now. I really want to try faux locs and have been looking at different methods. I definitely can't do it myself, but I don't want to pay $500 for it and I don't want it to take all damn day.
If I don't get braids soon I worry I am going to cut it all off.
