Have their jokes always been so mean-spirited? I'm not enjoying the pool scenes at all.
Yes. I never noticed it until Gilmore Guys, but yes.

This episode was really sad. They spent way too much time on the musical. Once again here comes Jess to talk sense into Rory. I love him - he might be too good for her - I may not want them to end up together as I have wanted all these years.
I had the same thought, teengirlsquad. I think that grown-up Jess is too good for Rory, and it makes me hope they don't end up together even though he has always been my favorite.
My sister pointed out that Lorelei would have loved the musical being that terrible, which I agree with, but I loved watching her in disbelief when everyone was gushing and she had a million notes.

I think that was meant to show how out of sync she was with her life.
The last number, unbreakable, was wow. A really nice, truthful, sad moment. It really pinpointed everything we saw in the OS and brought it all together, especially combined with the speech to Rory about only showing people the parts of her life she wanted them to see.

Aw shit. I'm only a few minutes in and I just want to give Rori a big ass hug. I hope she doesn't go to London again ((runs out of thread to watch the next hour and 15 minutes))
I felt this was the weakest one because they wasted way too much time on the musical. Loved the Carole King cameo, and Logan's abs, but that was about it.

I could've watched seven hours of Logan getting out of bed shirtless
I was a little taken aback by how Lorelai & Rory treated April and that THAT is all we got. Not that I wanted to see more of April, necessarily, I just thought that they would show Lorelai and April as having a slightly better relationship at this point. Not necessarily close, just at least Lorelai being more polite/friendly to her. But I guess that is what they used to show how they keep their families separate from their partner? But Lorelai came off as bitchy about Jess & towards April to me.
