Holy heat wave, y'all!! It is 90 here in Chicago, like all week. I'm hoping this is a good omen and we will ditch this insanity by race weekend and welcome you with beautiful fall weather!
I've been following it on my phone. I can't run in that!! Please send cooler weather or I'll bring some famous British drizzle.

OMFG it is 93 degrees here in Chicago today. It's too hot to go to the beach even. Lol. This is ridiculous and not normal at all (like, this is the hottest day of the year so far - it was not like this all summer EXCEPT the day of my half IM).
Not to worry! The forecast cools down next week to upper 60's.
I'll look around and see if I can find any better links. Also, this is not the official finisher's shirts/gear. It's just some of the stuff nike is selling (there will be more. There is always more).

clseale, I'll be with al320 - not sure we have much of a plan yet. Totally open to ideas - I'd like to be somewhere towards the beginning (either downtown or as far north as boystown), middle-ish and end. I'd really like to be in Pilsen at some point.
clsealeal320 @moreace - my place is just past the half. It’s not too crazy on my street so if people want to head to boystown/Chinatown/etc for more “action” that’s cool too. The plus side is it’s pretty easy to spot runners (and for them to spot you) since it isn’t too crowded.
My question is do you guys want to camp out in one spot to try and see everyone, or move around to several neighborhoods?

Can we get an idea of everyone's corral and pace? To see if we could see them all in the beginning, and still have time to relocate toward the end of the course where people may be hitting a wall and need that extra encouragement? I'm debating hanging out around mile 3.5 and 11.5 (1 block apart) and then relocating... I have a friend in Corral G aiming for 4:30-45, so would likely be seeing her at Mile 3.5 a bit before Wave 1 is coming down toward mile 12.
I think it might be fun to move around the course a bit. This is not an A race for DH, so I think he's targeting somewhere around 3:20-3:25. I'd like to stay put in a spot early in the race to try and see a lot of people, then be able to make it further down the course somewhere to get to DH again.
I like you're idea, chitownbelle! That might let me run back and forth so that I can see a lot of them around 3.5, but also snag DH again at 11.5 and then still have time to make it towards the end of the course.

Awesome! I think I'd like to move around a little bit, but am thinking of staying mostly downtown/south and would love to see you. What L stop are you near?
I will go wherever the rest of the group goes. I have no plans for the weekend outside of eating and drinking. Though a 5k might be fun; is anyone else running it?

I'm near Morgan green line / Racine blue line.
DH has spectated for me several times and said that his favorite spectating spots are: Between miles 1 and 2 on State or Jackson (really busy/fun), around mile 13 (close to walk to, easier to pick people out), and chinatown (miles 21-22, also easy to spot people and really busy/fun). Getting to chinatown is an easy trip on the red line from downtown. How does that sound to people?
If I don't acknowledge you cheering please don't take it personally. I am oblivious to what's around me. I love that you all want to come and cheer.
Oh this is me too. I'm going to run without headphones this time, but that said, people almost have to be right in front of me, yelling my name for me to hear / spot them. When I'm running it's like I'm visually and hearing impaired. If I don't hear/see you, please don't take it personally. If I know roughly what mile you will be, I will keep an eye/ear out. Please know that I am super grateful to have you there cheering me on and I cannot wait to see you all!
Weather temps are still saying high 20s (whatever that is in F I don't know). Holy heck that is hot.
I have a plan. I'm going to work from Madrid next week where it is pretty similar in heat. Should acclimate me, right? I'm flying back to the UK on Thursday and fly out again to Chicago on Friday lunch time. Sorted.

This works for me! How difficult will it be for me to get from Chinatown to Grant Park? I don't need to see him finish, but I'll want to meet him afterwards.
hannahb and @cheshire , I find this totally unacceptable. PAY ATTENTION. I require you to b-line it to the side of the course for a sweaty hug. At the very least, I expect you to blow me kisses & generally just look really stoked at the sight of me. #highmaintenancespectator. (j/k)

Just pretend to be a photographer. Chesh will not only see you, she will also give you a leap
jordylee, I like your plan. Chinatown or Pilsen was always my plan - both are super fun, high energy spots. clseale, the redline will get you from Chinatown back to downtown. Looks like maybe a 15-20 minute trip on the redline - super easy. We'll direct you to the right spot. Also, it's really hard for spectators to get to the actual finish line. I can't remember if it is blocked off or just really packed.

Thanks! TECHNICALLY, I will have a bib I could throw on. LOL But I just plan to meet him in the family reunion area at the far end of the park. One of our friends watched us from mile 26ish a few years ago, and that is insanity. I remember it being 20 people deep.

We should plan on all meeting up at the family area after. H for H&F?
Question: can't remember if I asked this already but would it be okay if my fella joins in the spectating / cheering? He's super nice and it might otherwise be a bit lonely for him. Totally fine if not too, he's a grown man and can look after himself.
