When I got married, the strapless Maggie Sottero gowns with the corset backs were all the rage. I am short with enormous boobs and, at the time, a very small waist. I looked like a porn star in those gowns. There was just no fucking way I could walk down the aisle like that. I had a hell of a time finding something that wasn't at least a knock off of that design.
My dress was strapless btw...and it looked awesome. But I am built to do strapless...good shoulders, smallish boobs, long waist, minimal armpit and back bloopage - it works on me. It works less well right now since I'm 20 lbs heavier than I was on my wedding day though. I have some armpit boob action in anything less than a perfectly fitted strapless.

I had a Maggie knockoff (ebay for $150) with spaghetti straps. Strapless was not a good look for me, and my parents actually told me they'd rather not see me in one. Too many brides in strapless gown constantly adjusting themselves had turned them off and they didn't want to see me doing it I guess.

My wedding dress wasn't even a dress -- a mustard colored linen eyelet suit I got at a Loehmann's outlet years before I even met my husband. I saw it and said, "I need to be married in that." and it sat in my hope chest for years waiting for me to meet him.
Where's the "heart palpitations" smiley when you need it?
for proof because I will take any chance to AW my wedding pictures which I have still not turned into an album or gotten printed: *poof* See, despite myhusband spinning me around like a fool, and kinda getting tangled in my bustle, dress still stays put.
I'm not a very good dancer.
Sorry, edited to remove pictures because I realized they went to the site with my full name. I'm a dumbass. I'll put them back later from elsewhere if I get a chance.

Nope, I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to pull off a strapless. Mine was a 1970's hand-me-down from my boss with a lace v-neck, I could not have designed a dress that would have been more flattering for my body.
I voted special snowflake. Technically, yes, I wore a strapless dress. However, strapless is not flattering on me, so I wore a lace bolero with it.
I hate it when people say that a strapless dress might fall off. LOL. A strapless dress that has been fitted isn't going to fall off of anyone, regardless of your bra size. However, it isn't the most flattering look for most people.

I only had a 4 month engagement, so I knew I couldn't be too picky. I did not want a strapless dress, but ended up with one. I went to Kleinfeld's and tried on several dresses. I asked my salesperson to pick me a dress (she had worked there for 30 years) and I got the one she picked. I figured she knew what looked best, my parents liked it, and I liked it (and they could rush it).
My mom came up to help me pick out my dress. My salon didn't have a single strapless dress in stock and I wasn't comfortable ordering something I hadn't seen on my body. The reality is that when it comes to wedding dresses, you really never know what it will look like until you see it on.
My mother drove halfway across the country to help me pick. It was far more important to me that I get to share that experience with her than wearing a strapless dress. And I do like my dress very much even though I'm not a fan of the majority of its features in general. But when it looks that damned good and you feel that damned good, the fact that you hate pick up skirts on principle is no longer important.
Strapless Maggie here! Although, no corset back. Back in 2003 strapless was pretty much all you could find. Big shouldered swimmer's body here so normally I don't wear strapless at any other time, but for my wedding in New England in August it worked! It helped that I worked out a lot for it too...
