I've been using Differin for a month and I have noticed improvement in acne and fine lines. They say it takes several months to a year to see the full effect, so I hope it keeps getting better and better. I do have some flaking around my mouth. I'm worried about sunburn in the summer - I do wear sunscreen but I'm very fair in the first place, so I'm concerned about something that makes my skin even more likely to burn.

Yes you'd be wise to be careful. I often do a chemical and a physical sunscreen (my Maybelline dream fresh BB has titanium dioxide) and if I'm at the beach or poolside I try to wear a hat.
I want to try a retinol, but it doesn't seem worth it. red flaky skin and even more likelihood of photsensitivity? ehh?
I haven't had a bit of red flakey skin and the photosensitivity is no more than with any other acid (so if you are doing Vit c or another other acid, you're likely as photosensitive). I currently use Paula's Choice Resist Serum which has a bit less retinol and I'm going to move to a 1% or 2% level as this isn't bothering my very, very sensitive skin in the slightest. But it's really helped keep the wrinkles at bay. I'm imagining the higher levels will work even better.
The first one has a lower retinol amount. I just started using that nightly right off the bat. No issues at all. The second one is stronger, so I started out using one pump every other night, and I mixed it with my regular face lotion. I gradually worked up to three pumps per night, applied as its own layer.
I'm ready for something stronger. I read that one of the ROC products has the highest retinol concentration. I may try that, or I may see a dermatologist and ask for a prescription.

I had the same thought, because that was my experience with retin-A as a teen. It hasn't been at all like that with the Differin. I had one day of a little bit of peely skin on the sides of my nose, which promptly went away -- probably because I moisturize the hell out of my skin these days.
I haven't noticed any additional sun sensitivity, but I'm careful about sunscreen and sun exposure anyway. No redness or increased sensitivity from the product itself. It's a much more positive experience this time around, so unless that changes, I'm going to keep on with it.

that makes sense. I remember one of my high school boyfriends doing the retin-a thing for acne and he peeled like a snake. And then people talk about tret face and flaky skin and I'm just like...I dunno man, maybe wrinkles aren't so bad.
But I already moisturize the utter crap out of my skin. Like I have yet to remove a step from my normal routine no matter how many new products I add to it...I just keep adding more layers. ALL THE MOISTURE.

Apparently H doesn't like when I wear lipsticks other then nudes. Challenge excepted! I'm brining out the purple, dark red and burgundy liquid lipsticks this weekend. I love them so 😝

Macy's has 15% off cosmetics through the 19th.
I bought a Nars blush and it love it. I have no idea how I missed out on these for so long. I could still see it in my cheeks ten hours later and that has never happened before.

Try The Ordinary! They have strong retinol that gets great reviews, and it's under $10!

If you want to incorporate it, I recommend starting with PC Resist retinol serum. It's super mellow and lovely. I used it for a few weeks and then started add tret to it, and my skin is looking pretty great!
IIRC, you do AHA and BHA regularly with no issue, so I bet retinol/retinoid won't irritate your skin, especially if you integrate it slowly. Though you might want to alternate AHA and retinoid.
I mean, here's the thing--retinol/retinoid is legit proven to increase collagen production and minimize fine lines. It's the one thing all of my derms have gotten behind for anti-aging. (I've had a few derms for other skin issues.) So, I think everyone should use it. 😊

Oh, i really want one of the NARS blushes. I love the one called Sin. But $30 hurts!

I've received things in my Sephora Play box that I've already owned before, but for some reason the UD Primer Potion in my box today made me irrationally annoyed. Is there anyone who hasnt tried that stuff yet? I was really hoping for the box with the Bobbi Brown stick or the MUFE shadow instead.

Sin is one of my favorite NARS blushes. So pretty. I know that this is not helpful. :-)

Not looking like a washed out zombie by 3 makes it totally worth it! Just wait for sephora's sale

UD has a Jean-Michel Basquiat series. I wants it. Especially that Tenant palette. And a couple makeup bags. (http://www.urbandecay.com/jean-michel-basquiat-makeup-collaboration )
