Brace yourself for some intense whining....I'm pretty loyal to ulta. mostly because I tend to use just as many drugstore brands as not, so it's nice to have both in one place. Also I hate going to the mall, but Ulta is next to costco.
HOWEVER. This birthday gift is some BULLSHIT. March gets a fucking deluxe sample of porefessional. WHO DOESN'T HAVE THAT ALREADY??? come on. April-May-June get a prelaunch deluxe sample of a new lancome mascara. That's so much more exciting! And sephora is giving away a choice of a 2 piece mini set from either caudelie or a tarte. STEP IT THE FUCK UP ULTA. I'm not even going to bother going to the store to get it. I have like 5 different primer samples rattling around my box-o-samples right now because I just don't use it enough, and even if I did...and this was my primer of choice - still it's like, "oh, well how utilitarian. thanks." It's the socks and underwear of the free makeup world.

That is a super shitty birthday gift. Ugh. You should go the first week of April and plead that you couldn't get to the store in time, and see if they will give you the mascara.
that's happened before for real - that I didn't get to the store in time (darn you late birthday) and they wouldn't give me april's gift. I should try again though since I don't WANT this gift.

It's worth a shot. Maybe the sales person will take pity on you. I can't imagine they get that many people excited about a Porefessional sample.
The inconsistency in their birthday gifts is insane. The Oct-Dec 2016 gift was a full size UD shadow in Midnight Cowboy, which was awesome. To go from that to Porefessional is ridiculous. Is it even a full size?

nope. deluxe sample. It's not even like, NICE socks and underwear. It's like grandma gave me a single pair of rolled up white tube socks.

I'm so angry for everyone with a Jan-March birthday. That is an epically shitty gift.

i'd start by emailing customer service. or calling. they have always been super responsive to my issues via email/phone.

Totally agree. The July gift was also the full size UD shadow.

I've been using retinol for a month now and I wouldn't say my skin is irritated but my pores look awful. I have not had any cystic acne on my jawline which is a plus but I would say the rest of my face looks the same or worse.
I think I'm going to just use it on my jawline for now, and maybe everywhere just one or twice a week.

wawa, that's an awful birthday gift! What is up with Ulta's love affair with Porefessional??? They include a sample of it with practically every order or gift bag. I've gotten so many that now it instantly irritates me when it shows up as a sample in one of my orders.
I really want to try out Good Genes. Like, crazy bad. I don't think I can wait until the Sephora spring sale, either. I'm so irritated at my skin/hyper-pigmentation and the glycolic acid and Vit C products I'm using aren't cutting it. I've had so much better results from lactic acid in the past, so I think good genes would work well for me.
Urgh. Should I cave and go get some today? Or wait?

Go to the store and get a sample. They are usually pretty generous. You've been doing so well on your no buy!

It may have been leftovers the last Reward Bazaar refresh, but I purchased something in store on Wednesday and they still had 100pt perk deluxe samples of Good Genes. I grabbed 2. You could always check to see if your store still has it too!
I got a lipstick organizer. I am downright disgusted by how much money I've spent on lipstick in the last two years.
I regret nothing!!!!!!!!!!
In all seriousness, I don't. As long as I'm meeting other financial goals and donating to charity and not recklessly wasteful in other areas, I just don't care about a bit of frivolous spending on beauty products.
It's great for my mental health. And unlike other self care type splurges, it doesn't have calories or result in hangovers. It doesn't feel as wasteful as fast fashion, nor does it create nearly the clutter. Really, there are few things I can buy for $25 that gives me the joy of a new shade of lipstick or blush.

For sure try to get the mascara. I'm a January and I pretty much told the sales girl it was a super shitty gift. She took pity on me and let me pick out a UD eyeshadow since they still had a bunch left. I feel like January always gets a dumb gift. I made my husband sign up since he's a June birthday so I can have a chance at a better gift;-)
So I've had kind of numbness and dryness of my lips for over a month. Sometimes its worse, sometimes better. I couldn't pinpoint anything specific and was about to enter an "elimination diet" of sorts and use non minty toothpaste and DD Dan's cortibalm at the rec of an allergist friend.
Well night before last I decided to test out the Bite Agave lip mask that I'd been using sporadically. The picture below is the result the following day. That is not the normal size of my lips.
So now I'm waiting for the cortibalm to arrive from Amazon and in the meantime I went to the store to get hydrocortisone and petrolatum to create my own to heal the dry flakiness I have going on.

I got this 10 drawer organizer for $29 at micheals today to keep in my closet. I'm going to put overflow products organized my category in each drawer so my vanity will be nice and clean. I can't wait to fill it up!

The Bite products I have make my lips numb and weird feeling. I haven't noticed visible swelling, but they feel puffy the next day. I have to be really careful about not wearing them multiple days in a row and only special occasions.

All the Bite products? I only have a couple and I guess I'm going to avoid them for now until I'm totally healed. But I REALLY wanted Bite Eggplant during the sephora sale.
persa, the lipmask does the same thing to my lips. I can't use it. The lipsticks don't effect me the same way.
Oh interesting, thanks for the info.
I'm wondering if Sephora will let me return it even though it's a purchase from a few months ago.
I'm doing the cortisone and lip balm now which is helping the dryness and tightness. I had just ordered the Laneige lip sleep mask earlier in the week so I might wait till my lips are more calm to try it.
Anyone have lash extensions? What has your experience been like as far as maintenance goes?
I don't have them now but I've had them in the past. A few years ago, I kept them for over a year. I got them a few months ago for a wedding and didn't get them refilled.
It really depends on you. For me, it takes time to get used to not touching or rubbing my eyes. If you workout and get sweaty often that can cause them to break down faster. That's a negative for me because I like to workout. Another drawback for me was the time involved. The initial set can take a couple of hours and refills can take at least an hour. After that you can't get them wet for 24 hours and I hate missing a workout.
Pros- I didn't need mascara at all and only used eyeliner when I was going for a really intense look. I felt prettier with less makeup when I have them. I feel like I had that instant wow even when I'm not wearing makeup which is such a confident booster.
My best friend has had them for a couple of years but she does use mascara with hers. I never needed to though so YMMV.
I will say if I had unlimited funds and time I would totally get them and keep them. For now, I rather spend my money and time elsewhere. Going forward, I can see myself getting them for special occasions.

I get the same reaction from all the Bite Lip products. My guess is the Resveratrol that's in their products but I could be wrong. Cortisone is what helped clear up my lips. I just avoid their products now as it's just not worth the breakout.

So far it seems to. I have one regular lipstick (the flat top) and it's the mildest reaction. I have to use it two days in a row to notice anything. I have the gold lipstick/cherry combo and it's pretty noticeable with that one. I haven't worn them in a while so I can double check tomorrow!

If you give me your address I'll ship you what I have. I think it's about half of the jar that came in the duo with Luna.
