I am all kinds of out of sorts today and need to complain. Please join me.
Marathon training is not going well. My heart just is not into it--I fell off the training wagon while I had family I town and can't seem to get back on.
I've had a cold for 2 weeks, so I've felt so run down and can't hear properly, never mind the world of color that is expelled from my body on a regular basis.
I have a coaster sized steam burn on my leg (right where the edge of my shorts hits my thigh) and that fucker is blistering and HURTS.
It's hot (until I see what venice2007 posts, and then I shut my damn mouth, lol). I will acclimate soon, but damn.
1. Although it's better this week, it was oppressively hot last week (not like you and venice, but over 90 all is same) 2. If I get off one day on my hydration, I feel dry for DAYS afterwards. Am I just a hydration snowflake? Why do I feel like I need all the water all the time? 3. I am getting chafing on my bra line like I did last summer. I try to use body glide whenever I can, but I cannot physically reach my bra line on my own. My H has to do it. My H isn't always around when I need to get a run in! 4. I thought I would feel stronger this marathon cycle than I do. Was it this hard last time? Was I this slow? I feel like I'm doing everything "right" this cycle (eating not garbage, keeping up with strength training and yoga, etc) but I don't feel like that's paying off yet. It's only been a few weeks, so perhaps I just need to give it more time.
I'm getting worried that my cortisone shot isn't going to be as effective with my newly injured hip. It's getting near a week and still having some issues. I'm really hoping I can get in a run tomorrow. It's been almost 3 weeks since my last run and I wasn't running at that point really since I was injured.
I've got an 8K in 2 weeks. I figured it would be no big deal but now I'm not sure even if I'm pain free if I'll be ready to run that far.
It feels very weird to not be running when it's so nice out!! I wait all year for this warmer weather and I want to get out there.

Please whine with me and make me feel less alone.
Lol!!! Hey vent away! Any heat is bitching worthy lol. It's hot everywhere it seems!
1) My hip, though a bit better, still hurts. It's frustrating.
2) I hate my stomach. I have IBS and it seems like no matter what I do my stomach hurts, is bloated. I need to get back to my GI but I haven't had the time.
3) Bears. More specifically one certain mama bear that apparently has a den near my house and has cubs. It's turned every morning run into an anxiety induced sweat fest.

I get like this too. All year round but especially during the summer. I'm chronically dehydrated. I actually started drinking pickle juice sometimes, supposedly it's beneficial for rehydration.

I'm drinking Nuun after basically every workout. It doesn't feel like electrolytes to me, it feels...dry. I don't know how else to describe it.
wambam, I wrap my bra line in moleskin tape where I chafe. It has been way more effective for me vs. bodyglide.
I've never even heard of moleskin tape!
I tried this for my marathon and it did not work for me. I have a back pocket in my capris for my phone and no matter how much body glide it still chafed on longer runs. I really didn't have any other option for the marathon (didn't want to switch capris) so tried the moleskin tape. It did not feel comfortable on my skin and it didn't really protect from chaffing. Also once I got really sweaty it didn't really stay on that well. Finally I gave up and ripped it off and just dealt with the chaffing.
Hopefully you have better success though. Definitely didn't work for me.
MH has been slammed at work after a promotion - like SLAMMED. And he manages a team of people, so he spends most of his day anaswerng quesitons and putting out fires, which leaves him no time to handle his actual tasks. So...to address this he's taken to going into the office at like 4 AM so he can get out ahead of the day's tasks.
Guess who usually runs at 5 AM?
Yeah. Guess how much running I've been doing?
Yup.
This sucks. I'm not happy with it. Our set up has been that he does daycare drop-off and I do pickup. He handles mornings - getting the kids up and dressed and I handle evenings - getting them home and fed and then we both do bedtime. That leaves AM for my workouts and PM for his.
I could run ont he treadmill while the kids sleep. BUT I FUCKING HATE THE TREADMILL. i love running. Outside. I hate the treadmill. This bullshit has sucked all the joy out of my training plan and turned it into a giant fucking chore. I don't see a good way out of it. His job is in fact more important than my running. But fuck man...i haaaaaaate running on the treadmill. Also that sucker is *loud* and directly below my son's bed so it wakes him up and I finish my run to a screeching toddler who then wants to get into the shower with me.
I have no new vents: I still can't swim or run. I can bike, but that has been hard to be consistent with, due to travel. I am looking forward to an upcoming period when I'll be at home to get back into a routine with it.
I just got back from vacation, and have decided to commit to losing the last of my baby weight. I weigh about 5-6 lbs. more than when I got pg, and about 10 lbs. more than race weight/wedding weight. I love some of the pictures I have from our vacation with Hobbes (who looooooved the beach) but I was not happy with the way I looked. I'd been giving myself a pass, pretending it wasn't noticeable in dresses... but there it is. I'm getting back on the MFP band wagon with a goal of losing 7-8 lbs. We are going on vacation again in Sept, and I plan to buy a bikini and feel accomplished wearing it.
wambam and others re: chafing - I'm sure a lot of you do this, but I put body glide on the clothing and on my skin. Doubling up seems to really help. Especially for bra line.
My vent is - yesterday was my first run since my 70.3 two weeks ago (which I still haven't reviewed cause...lazy) and my quads hurt like hell. Even after doing youtube yoga.

I will jump in here, apparently I need a good vent as well
I feel like I am falling apart. I slacked on my core/lifting routine while in taper/recovery mode for my two half's last month and while working on kitchen projects. I am kicking myself, I know better than that. My ankle is still feeling funky from the last week, except for some slight issue mid run it hasn't been hurting at all during running.
I fell on my bike last week - it was a turn I took too tight and had the wrong foot unclipped. So stupid and preventable I landed pretty solidly on my hip/elbow and overall am fine, just a bit traumatized.

You did Madison right? Would love it if you did a recap (no pressure though!) It's on my list of potentials for next year.
hurricanedrunk - I did do Madison. Note: there are MAJOR HILLS! Lol. Things I was sort of...not paying attention to when I signed up for the race.
I have a recap half written. I have blocked a lot from my memory. To the point where I am considering another 70.3 even though day of the race I thought about selling all my gear on craigslist (my race did not go well - I did a lot of things wrong).

I still don't see how I'm going to run a 50 miler in just over a month. My long run this weekend was 7 miles. On the upside, my IT band is actually feeling better so I'm going to attempt 10 (on trails) this week, and if that goes well, MAYBE I'll feel a little more optimistic.

I have been have minor pain in my shoulder for about a month. It wasn't bad until this weekend, then I tried lifting today. I don't think I can avoid getting it checked anymore.
wambam, have you tried aquafor? I find that actually works a lot better for braline chafing than body glide. Also, your bra might be done. How old is it?
wawa, I'm sorry about your H's schedule change. I have the same arrangement with my H. Whenever I have to do kid duty in the morning, it kills my morning workouts.
Susie, I'm sorry you're not about to run or swim still. That is so shitty.

It's not the product that's the problem, it's the application. I can't make my arm move that way!
Bra is fine. Some are older, but it happens even with new ones.
Oh this is random but I'm gonna stick it here anyway - there was a post on my local MRTT page with three women posing post-run in a fountain in bras and shorts. Pretty sure one of the three was wearing the bra you PIPed wambam Except in gray. Looked totally normal and I wouldn't have looked twice except it looked familiar.
I have been slacking like crazy lately on my swimming. I really need to start pushing myself. Also I'm tired of there being only 2 lanes for swimming and sharing lanes and circle swimming. There's 2 pools at my gym there shouldn't be this much crowding!
Non-H&F vent why won't my child nap in her crib??!!

wait...what? You can't run a hand around your entire bra band area? do you have a shoulder mobility issue?

No....
Wait, is this pathological? LOL
I mean, not one hand in a full circle, but I can start with my hands both on at my sternum on my bra band and run them around till they meet at the clasp in the back without losing contact. My shoulders are wonky, but i'm not double jointed or anything. I'm now sitting here doing it with my chapstick (with the lid on) pretending it's body glide to make sure I'm not the nutball.

I'm sure you probably already did this, but make sure you're doing a video with poses designed to stretch the quads. Many yoga moves won't stretch them, as they stretch the hamstrings. Also, make sure you're stretching the hips as well.
