My lovely receptionist mentioned a "magic school bus" during a conversation with me recently, and I just gave her a blank stare.
And she was like, "You know. Magic School Bus? Ms. Frizzle?"
And I was like, "I have no idea what you are talking about, but I am going to go ahead and say I'm flattered that you think I am young enough or cool enough to understand your reference."
And then she says, "What? No way. It's a cartoon. I can't believe you've never heard of it."
Then she looks it up on her phone, and IMDb informs us that it first aired in September 1994.
And I say, "I was in college, dude. That's why I don't know what the fuck a magic school bus is."
She replies, "Oh. I was, like, four or five when I watched it."

I read and liked the original (5?) books as a kid. Once they sold rights and began churning out about a new book a month I didn’t like reading them. The show was ok.
Yes, because I read the Babysitter's Club books obsessively as a kid, and there were a lot of Magic School Bus (books, not show--I was in my teens when that premiered) references in that series for some reason. My kids like the show, but not as much as Ninjago or Wild Kratts.
