Thanks. It's really not about me, they're not burning anywhere near me right now. Not going to lie though, I had nightmares about having only seconds to get out and have been thinking about what I have where and what I would grab in what order if I had to evacuate immediately. It's a good reminder to have a better plan in place.
My sister just shared a story about a Santa Rosa family that fled the fire. They just delivered a little baby girl. She was part of the delivery team. I'm pretty sure she was the "baby nurse" in the story she linked. It was rather sweet. Another family just delivered the day before; they were expecting a baby girl and had lots of girl stuff. They had a boy and gave these new parents all their baby girl stuff.

Aww.
We are connected (friend of a friend) to a family who gave birth during the fire while their house burned down. i wonder if it's the same family.
Anyone know of places to donate to the firefighters who are working these fires? They must be exhausted. Water, coffee, snacks, clean socks?
Operation BBQ Relief feeds first responders and evacuees. I posted a GoFundMe yesterday that was to help fund a fire station that was going to help Operation BBQ Relief but it looks like it's funded now. operationbbqrelief.org/.

It'll be two weeks tomorrow. Things are improving (some evacuations are being lifted, fires have stopped spreading this week and air quality has improved) but none of the bay area fires are fully contained yet.
It blows my mind that they still aren't fully contained. The weather is doing firefighters no favors, either. It seems like this has faded from national consciousness which makes me worried that it will be harder to get aid for Northern CA outside of the state.
