I'm not trying to downplay her accusations, but this photo seems like he isn't even touching her. It's completely immature and uncalled for, but I don't think this is evidence of him groping her. The rest of it though...ugh

If Schumer doesn’t come out against this and demand Franken’s resignation it’s going to kill any legitimacy to the ‘Moore doesn’t deserve to be in the Senate’ narrative going on in AL right now. Frankens seat is safely D if he resigns, Schumer needs to make that happen.
I am so sick of men, and women, using the "it was a joke, lighten up. I am sorry you were offended." apology. THAT ISN'T AN APOLOGY.
Women's bodies are not punchlines to your joke, motherfucker.
Yes, it also seems to go along with this notion of the angry femi-nazi who has no sense of humor-- basically gaslighting women who do speak out against this behavior.
I've seen men in real life do the "grab boobs with both hands signal in the air" thing before without touching anyone, and I never gave it much thought beyond thinking it was immature and stupid. It's definitely something I need to think more about more in regards to my reaction to that. I think it's easy for both men and women to brush off things as a bad joke, when things aren't funny but aren't physically hurting someone. I can see now how I need to be more aware of that impulse, that pretending to grope isn't funny because the person being groped would never laugh (which is usually the thing that makes a prank/joke ok or not - you ask yourself if the person being pranked would find it funny - if not, you've gone too far and shouldn't do it and it's not fun or funny if the person being targeted won't also think it's funny). I can't see any woman laughing at pretending to be groped or actually being groped. I'm not sure why this didn't occur to me.
Take a seat. And go hang out with the moms on ML that won't punish their kid for bringing a weapon to school and threatening another kid. Your judgment is right along their lines.

Actually, you are downplaying her accusations. This is just as disgusting as if he stood in front of dude to her left and thrust his hips at him without TOUCHING HIM while he slept.

I keep coming back to how that woman must have felt when she saw that photo.
I’m so disappointed. Franken was one of the few people in government that had made my pet issue his (forced arbitration). The fact that the practice is legal is used to silence women and protect workplace harassers.

I agree with all this.
I said in the other thread that Bill should face the music.
I am a dem, but if the party wants to go high when the other party goes low, they need to walk the walk.

I think I’m even more pissed about his non-apology. He’s essentially called it an overreaction on her part. And dismissed her recollection as being inferior to his even with photographic evidence.
Like, FUCK. YOU.
Time to elevate a kickass woman to take his place.

It kills me that he did this.
I'm disappointed too.
But, I think we're going to have to prepare ourselves to be disappointed over the coming months. A floodgate has been opened, and it's not a bad thing. Societal change is happening (I hope) but it won't be without a cost.
As upsetting as it may be in some cases (like this case), I'm willing to be disappointed if it means that a person no longer has to be ashamed that another person violated her or him.
I'm with you on the forced arbitration issue. Hopefully someone else will pick up that torch.

The fact that his seat is safe shouldn't even matter.

It's photographic evidence. Jesus Christ.
And he is either actually doing it or mimicking the touching of private parts of someone's body. Would you be comfortable with someone even pretending to do this to you, or your teenaged child?
Whatever happened to just drawing mustaches on passed out people, FFS?
