Houses on Kiawah start about $500/night up to yanno, $2200/night. If there are 10 of us, what's our budget? I'm looking at Thursday-Sunday.

I will likely do Thurs - Mon, supplementing with a hotel as needed.

The race is on Saturday, yes? Then I'm coming in on Thursday. Last time we did a hotel in Charleston that night, but it'd be nice to just be in a spot, kwim?

I mean...I'm down for a house the whole time, but I don't know how it would shake out $$$$ wise. Which is why I figured I'd supplement with a hotel on either side. I'd rather do that than a 6am flight.

See I was thinking it would be more fun to do the house until Monday. That way we could get more time post race. I want to do all the drinking and eating, but eating gummy bears 24/7 leading up to a race really affects my performance.

I probably couldn't make it there until Friday evening.

We’re looking at houses right now for Thursday-Monday that hold 18-20 people, and it’s looking like 150-200pp for the stay

I tried to look at flights last night to get an idea, and they aren't booking that far out yet.

The small amount of houses available I've seen makes me think we should take that the most seriously?

I agree. I think we want to stay close, which means on the island, which means a limited number of properties available to hold like 20 of us. 

Did lb2006 book it through the resort last time? Did you guys look at their site?

She did.  And those huge houses are so damn expensive.

This house is right on the course now, at mile 10 (half) and 23 (full).

Right now we have 17 confirmed yes, with 16 staying in the house. There are a few other people who said they were interested who haven't weighed in yet, so we were estimating high based on the guess that most would likely turn to yes.

It looks like it's $10,650 for the week that does not include taxes and resort fee. But it does say daily rates are available. Not sure what those are, but $10,650 is $1520/day. So if we assume it's similar then for four nights it would be $6085/18 = $338 which is about $85/night per person. But I guess we would have to figure out who was staying for all four nights.

That's awfully high compared to what I've seen on Homeaway. I just found a house that sleeps 20, is on the course, and is 154.2x/person for Thursday-Monday

That sounds much better!  I know we didn't pay $300+ in 2014, so maybe they found out they could charge more for such an awesome house.

We only stayed for two nights - Friday and Saturday night. (Some people spent Thursday night in Charleston.) You guys are doubling your stay. But don’t forget about the shuttle.

I didn’t know this all was here! Such a rookie! Thurs-Sun is probably most realistic for me.

I am imagining H home with the 3 kids all weekend and just cackling. I mean, he’s perfectly capable and ultra involved, but he’s going to be fucking exhausted!
