I have a love/hate relationship with the never-trumpers and GOP making statements against this. On one hand, the more GOP politicians, including the talking heads on Fox news, come out against the way that Trump's narrative on Russian interference and Putin, the better. On the other hand, they should all eat shit.
And I think that’s fine.
But I’ve seen Lots of people on fb and twitter that are sharing flame and McCain statements, and saying “now THATS how to issue a statement.”
LOL, here he goes. 45 tweet: As I said today and many times before, “I have GREAT confidence in MY intelligence people.” However, I also recognize that in order to build a brighter future, we cannot exclusively focus on the past – as the world’s two largest nuclear powers, we must get along! #HELSINKI2018
Says the guy who repeatedly mentions his Electoral College victory, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama ...
Re: Putin blackmailing Trump, I honestly have a hard time believing it simply because Trump is incapable of keeping his mouth shut. If Trump was truly hiding something then I think he would've blabbed about it by now, even indirectly.
Of course, that may be related to that thing that Trump said during his campaign about how everyone should pay attention to Wisconsin/Michigan, or something like that. I cannot find the exact quote right now of course.

Yep.
All it would take is two Senators to say they want to be independents and caucus with the Democrats. Just two. They don't even have to say they are democrats. Just quit the party and sit with us at lunch and let us control the committees. It wouldn't even have to be permanent. All they need is to just give Chuck Schumer the gavel for a few months so we could get some accountability.
The solution is really so simple. We could get the tax returns, get a whole bunch of testimony public, haul some more people in for questioning, and get a handle on whatever the fuck DHS and DOJ are doing to people at the border.
We need just two people for a few months. And out of the 51 assholes, not even one of them is willing to step up. Not even the ones that are retiring.
So I'm glad there's a few that are spending the morning not joining in on the gaslighting for once, but JHC, if you see this shit show for what it is, step the fuck up.

On the Maria Butina indictment: the indictment has emails from "US Person 1" saying that they are setting up a "VERY private line of communication" between the GOP and Russia via the NRA.
Is it too much to hope for that this is somehow going to lead to the NRA taking a serious hit?
He's spent YEARS convincing people anything he doesn't like is "fake news." He gets up there and lies every single today. There's no way he thought this would go any differently. People still believe him! He has groomed his followers to believe him and only him. Sure, some conservatives are breaking ranks, but they won't actually DO anything about it, and he can convince people in the Trump Bubble that those people are wrong. He doesn't want loyalty to the GOP - he's sowing loyalty to Trump above all.

This is what makes me wonder what Putin/ the Russians have on Republicans. What skeletons they have in their closets that they won't dare break the status quo for fear of what it would do to their livelihoods/ relationships/ the general population of the United States.
There are several who have attempted to distance themselves, but juuuust barely. What's keeping them on? What do the Russians know?
Russia did hack the RNC, too, ya know... Imma need a lot more tin foil for my hat collection before this is all over.
As much as I hate the entire GOP and am scared of Russia's talents, I just don't buy that Russia has serious compromising information on all 51 of them, plus the 8 zillion in the house.
I'm sure Russia has some shit on some of them. I think the vast majority however are just racist shitpigs, cowards, and/or greedy assholes.

yup. “Oh, he likes putin? Well, so do i! He’s a great guy who only wants the best for us if that’s what trump says!!”
You don't even have to dream up conspiracy theories to understand why the GOP isn't standing up to Trump. The modern GOP cares about power over everything else––just look at McConnell saying his top priority was denying Obama a second term and then stealing a SCOTUS seat. Look at the GOP harnessing the white supremacist vote, just to win elections. And look at their strategy of voter suppression.
They don't care about democracy. They don't care about the country's best interests. They care about advancing their personal agendas and holding power. Russia doesn't need kompromat on the GOP. The party has been rotten for years––they will literally sell out their country for power.
There's also a lot of genuine overlap in ideology between the alt-right, christofascist factions of the GOP and Russia. They've loved Russia long before 2016.
And listen, I don't like this idea that the entire GOP is behaving the way they are because they are victims of crimes because implicit in that is the notion that they would behave like decent and honorable people otherwise. THERE IS ZERO EVIDENCE OF THAT.
Look, the Russians hacked damn near everything. Yes, many in the GOP are victims of hacking. Some might be victims of blackmail or have not yet actually been blackmailed but are so afraid of what is out there on them, that they are conforming their behavior to avoid pissing Russia off. To the extent Russia actually has an ongoing influence on their behavior, I feel awful for our country. And even if the person is a shit human hiding shit behavior, I am pissed AF that Russia is trampling around in our business. GTFO.
But the entire GOP is not behaving like the scum of the earth because they are all victims of an ongoing crime. They are behaving like the scum of the earth because they are the scum of the earth. I'm ok generalizing until proven otherwise.
I think the Russians have been playing the long game, here. Their hands are in the NRA and the NRA contributions to R campaigns. I wouldn't be surprised if every single R (and quite a few Ds) have accepted money that they know is tainted, but didn't want to look into further. I think several in the government have had business dealings with Russia. I've also said this from the very beginning. There aren't pee tapes on all of them, but they all have dirty dealings. It's too bad that McCarthyism contributed to not wanting to call all this out earlier. I'm sure people on the inside have been seeing the incursion for years.
Rand Paul is a hillbilly hick. I don't even care about this statement. He is on CNN now.
How Wolf Blitzer is not telling him to stfu is impressing me. Dan Coats-Director of National Intelligence says they meddled He can't even say he trusts our Intelligence Community over Russia they have too much power. Maybe if you did something, they would be checked. OMG, he won't answer that he would trust our Intelligence OVER RUSSIA. Holy ficking hell

And they are winning. They are weakening the populaces' trust in the Intelligence community, law enforcement, the media, our laws...but we are sad, and not all that informed so it is not surprising, sadly.

Even fucking Newt is chiming in. This all reminds me of Charlottesville. He is at 87% after all that so this will definitely not hurt him.
But the problem is that the entire GOP and their supporters (not just the deplorables) will let 45 get away with a half ass correction.
SHS will say that the press twists everything because they're against him, 45 will say of COURSE he trusts our intelligence community (once he's not standing next to Putin), and the press is fake, and he was joking, and and and...
And then they'll nod and smile and go along, saying "see! He said the right thing. All is well!"

I don't disagree with you. I was careful in my earlier post to qualify it by saying that I don't think Russia has "serious" compromising info.
My point wasn't that all these people are squeaky clean. It's that I'm skeptical that (1) most of them are at their core good people and (2) those good people have done things that are so serious that it would cause them to alter their behavior (i.e. their policies, votes, and statements) to protect against it coming out.
In other words, what I'm against is this "well, the GOP was hacked" as an excuse for why they support Trump. They support Trump because they are awful. Maybe some have done awful or embarrassing things too. I just don't believe that Jeff Flake, Bob Corker, and Lindsey Graham would quit the GOP tomorrow but can't because they took dirty NRA money.
I think it's possible there's someone that might quit but knows the Russians have evidence of something that would actually destroy them, possibly criminal, like Dennis Hastert level crimes, or possibly some career ending sex scandal, either homosexuality, an affair, a particular porn prediction, etc. But that's not all of them. That's not even most of them.

I agree. Even if they were squeaky clean, they would still be voting and acting the exact same way. What we're seeing is the heart of the Republican party. The dirty, racist, give no shit about anyone but lining their pockets, party. We're living in a goddamn Republican paradise right now.
I think the vast majority however are just racist shitpigs, cowards, and/or greedy assholes.
Why are you so mean and intolerant, lol. They’re just pandering. They don’t mean it. I bet if you search their speeches, you won’t find one racial slur, and that is empirical evidence they are not racists and do not stand with racists and are all totally moderate. 😂

As far as I know this may or may not be a real quote of Einstein’s, but it rings true no matter who the author.
“The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.” ― Albert Einstein
