We’ve talked a lot about mental load on here. As the main “purchaser” of groceries and household items, I feel like I am shouldering the entire burden of finding and buying all of the hard-to-get items right now. Seriously, the stress of trying to make sure we can get cat food and paper towels and hand soap is seriously ratcheting up, and it’s all falling in me.
Also, one of my DINK friends posts every night photos of the glorious meals he and his husband are preparing with the extra time they're saving from commuting. They set the table beautifully and typically enjoy a perfectly paired cocktail or drink.
I randomly and briefly woke up at 12:30 am and usually I have no problems going right back to sleep when that happens, but this time I was like, "WAIT!!! Let me check if I can get a time slot for grocery delivery now that it's a new day." So I logged in the app and snagged delivery for next Thursday. This is what life has become now - thinking about grocery delivery time slots when I'm half-asleep.
(To be clear, we are tipping way more than ever and this particular grocery company has been doing a good job for their employees to keep them safe; when we see them drop off food outside our door they are wearing lots of protective gear, etc.)
I’ve done that. It’s awful that I woke up from a deep sleep to place a grocery order. I can’t believe this is real life.
cville I hate your friends too. I hate most people who are all “look at all this free time I have” when I have less time to myself than ever before.

I'm sorry. I totally get this. DH was all annoyed at things we didn't get from the grocery pickup and it felt like he was annoyed with me. DUDE. If there aren't eggs, I can't buy any.
I may have to go into the house of someone that may have Corona virus. Yes, it's semi an emergency, this is not for a social call or anything like that. He's been rushed to the hospital and someone needs to get his dog. What should I do to protect myself for the few min I'll be in there. I'm going to put on gloves, but I don't have a mask or anything.
Note, I have no training, just my own medical paranoia and research, but this is what I would do...
Wait at least 3 hours after he is gone (to let aerosols fall) wear gloves Put dog food in your own containers. Don’t bring his dog food bags into the house. If he uses canned food, soak cans in soapy water as soon as you get home toss all leashes and collars, dog jackets, etc in the wash as soon as you get home Give dog a bath
Total FWP - I need to figure out what color to paint my 3 season room that was destroyed by hail last year and being rebuilt (hopefully) soon. I usually go to the paint store and stare at the paint chips for a while to see what I like, then bring them home, look at them in the space, and then go back out and buy paint.
I have the same method usually. This is what I did.
I emailed the neighborhood to see if someone had the deck of all the paint colors. I borrowed it (contact free pick up) and the picked from the deck. Then I got two couple cans from SW (contact free). I liked one, so this coming weekend I will order the whole gallon over the phone and do another contact free pickup. I also smartly included foam brushes in my sample can order, go me.
I wonder if I call the store if they have a deck I can borrow.

This seems reasonable. You could also write down the name of the food and just buy it at the store.
I'd also add that even if you don't have a mask, you can use a scarf or a bandana. They aren't really that effective, but considering you'll likely only be in the house for a few minutes, might help.
If giving the dog a bath is too difficult because the dog is too large or too unfamiliar with you, then try rubbing some baby wipes all over him while outside somewhere away from people. Do this with a scarf around your nose and mouth so you don't inhale the dander.
This makes me think that it's probably not a bad idea to have a go bag ready for my dogs in the worst case scenario that H and I both were hospitalized. Get a couple cheap back up leashes and a week's supply of food and treats in a sealed bag in a closet.
mrssandro you probably did this, but I saw some exercise stuff on target.com yesterday. I was looking for a medicine ball, but they had some. Could you use kettle bells instead?
I have been checking Target regularly online and everyone says sold out. Even kettles. I have tried Walmart, Dicks, Academy and Nebraska Furniture Mart. I am guessing it has to do with stock being delayed from China.
What state are you in? Our Target has some in stock.
The neighborhood next to where my Grandma and parents live in Florida refused to shut down their pool (county restrictions at that point, not state).
The county came to shut it down, they refused. Police came, they refused. The police had to call for backup to shut down the pool and fined the HOA $5K. This is a 55+community and the pool is pretty small.
WTF is wrong with these people?
If this weren't real life under such dire circumstances, this would be an amazing Seinfeld episode.

We did a Target pick-up last night for a few essentials, and on a whim I added a llama and cactus party garland to the cart. It's now hanging in my home office and it has made my day. It's the best $5 I've spent in the past several weeks.
I was supposed to have an appt next week to get refills on my anxiety and ADHD meds. I'm hoping to just do the appointment over the phone, but I know there are weird rules about these meds. Plus, I'm really concerned that my (amazing, compassionate) doctor will get pulled into front-line work because he's part of a major hospital network here that is getting slammed.

I have resistance bands that have been super helpful - I feel like I get a better workout with them.

Thank you. Good thinking with the food especially, I never would have thought of that.

I wonder if you can google some commercial brands...Spri is one:
Seems like as public/private gyms are closing, people are just buying more home gym equipment. I was looking for some stuff yesterday and lots of stuff is sold out (even products made in the US at Rogue Fitness).
I’m not surprised. I’m kicking myself for constantly putting off buying secondhand equipment since so many treadmills, etc. end up being laundry racks for people. I really don’t want to buy new because 1) more expensive and I want to avoid unnecessarily spending more than we should for anything, and 2) eventually I want to go back to my gym because I miss people, even annoying people lol. But man, a machine at home would be so useful right now.
I also have a FWP. I woke up this morning and my Fitbit Versa was dead. I can't get it to restart and I know it's not the battery. I have had it for just short of 2 years but for the price I expected it to last longer.
It was actually very helpful in keeping me moderately active now that I am home rather than walking a lot at work like normal. I have to decide whether to hold off (boo!), buy another Fitbit, or try one of the other brands. I just don't really feel like paying $200+ again.
Call customer service. Often, they just send you a new one.
It's out of warranty so the most they will do is 25% off a new one.

Is that what they said? Because I've totally called when mine was out of warranty (but, like you, should have had PLENTY of life left in it) and they sent a new one. I wasn't even all "Let me speak to your manager!" I just stated that I was disappointed in the quality/longevity & the offered to ship me a new one (or maybe refurb. I didn't care)

My local SW gave me a deck a little over a month ago.

I kind of hate him.
If you only "kind of" hate him, you're a better person than I am.
FWP post but I just frustrated I can't find any place to purchase hand weights. I purchased them on Amazon two weeks ago and today they decided to cancel my order. But now everywhere sold out of stock. Just need and 8 and a 10. I am taking a ton of virtual classes and only have a set of plates that are not made to do arm exercises like that. I have used can food as well but not heavy enough. Maybe it's the new toilet paper.
My gym is doing home workouts with frying pans/cast iron skillets, jugs of laundry detergent, tote bags full of books, etc. if you don’t have weights at home. It has been helpful!

Completely agree. It's such an added stress now. Dh was complaining a little bit last night because dinner was a repeat and I snapped at him that "I'm doing my best to feed us during a God damn pandemic!"
Probably not my finest moment. But I'd gone to the store yesterday morning and that stress was still on my mind.

Has anyone heard from the anti-vaxers? They've been surprisingly quiet recently.
I don't run in those circles, but Buzzfeed has a couple of "the dumbest things anti-vaxers are saying right now" type blogs that detail stupid things they're saying on the Internet. Spoiler: they're still crazy/stupid.

Damn. I was hoping this might help them realize their stupidity, but that was stupid of me.

One Dr I follow on Twitter is all in on the antivaxxers. So I get most of that from watching him blast them. In short, they blame corona on the flu shot, some claim corona is a result of over vaccination (immune overload), and some say corona is made up so they can implant a chip with the “corona vaccine.”
