Oh I didn’t even realize this is the same poster lol. Clearly I really do not pay attention to who is posting. We often have cross conversations with people on multiple boards!! You in danger girl....
Am I? What kind of danger?
It's a joke. I don't know how to post gifs, but there's a meme from the movie Ghost with Whoopi Goldberg where she says "you in danger girl." So people would post that meme around here when posters would start getting in to it or another classic example would be when people would start a post that typically doesn't end well around here, like "should I buy a dog from a breeder." Out would come the "you in danger girl" meme. No one has ever meant that someone was literally in actual danger.

I mean...catching COVID-19 comes to mind. But I'm pretty sure wanderingback was joking. Ghost? Whoopi Goldberg?
I’m debating going back to OTF. I was doing so well just before the shutdown and was well on my way to seeing the results I wanted by summer. I have no motivation to do anything on my own so I have done nothing since and have gained the weight back, and some.
My friend just went back this week and said they had it maxed to 5 people per station. She said it wasn’t too bad working out with a mask. I want to go back but I’m hesitant. I chose remote schooling for my DDs and feel like that would be pointless if I put myself at risk to work out.
Has anyone gone back to OTF or something similar? How has your experience been?
I am. I've been back 5x a week since they re-opened June 16. Between March 17 when they closed and June 15, I did Peloton and worked out on my own with workouts one of our trainers wrote.
I go at 5am with basically the same group of people every class - so the first class of the day after the cleaners have been there. We wait outside, one at a time in, temp check, assigned to a station, masks upon entering, until we start, while transitioning, and out the door. Transitions are coordinated so we don't congregate, we clean everything between stations and we don't share stations. The fans are on in the building, but disabled on the treadmills. If I'm #1 on the tread, no one else uses it - we are capped at 13 people per class, so we have 2 stations between everyone. We don't share weights, if you use a mat, it goes in a separate area to be cleaned before being re-used. I've worked out with a mask a handful of times - right now I'm using one as much as possible to try and get used to it if we are mandated to use them. I feel very safe there.
We have a very low rate of infection in my zip and the surrounding zip codes. My kids are remote, DH and I work from home full time - OTF is needed for my mental health.
For the 3rd time I am talking about the notion that well I’m already exposed doing (insert whatever things) so what’s one more.
I never said “what’s one more.” Did you just bust back over to this thread for fun after a huge lull so you could come for me in two places? Damn.
Live your life, stay safe, wear a mask, we are all doing the best we can.
But that's the thing, clearly we are NOT all doing the best we can. And that's why the country is in the shape it's in right now. I think drawing the line of what your "best" is at going to OTF is ridiculous. Anyone that can afford OTF has enough resources they can deploy to work out in other, safer ways, and are just choosing not to do so.

Sorry this made me laugh out loud.
I'm going to have to check if Ghost is available on any streaming platforms. I LOVED that movie and watched it so many times. I need that kind of nostalgia right now.

omg it's so good. When Whoopi yells "Aw man SHUT UP!" that kills me every time lol

This is my same scenario with going at the 5 am. Evidently you aren't allowed something for mental and physical health here, so watch out. You are what is wrong with this world and the pandemic!
I'm not even addressing the fact that I already had Covid.

Ghost is a fucking terrible movie, so I don't routinely reference it.

Granted I haven't watched the movie in 25 years, but there are very few movies that I'd classify as "fucking terrible." What makes it so terrible?
Ghost? Well, Whoopi was the best part but I found it overly weepy. I don't generally know memes from movies I don't watch more than once. That's why I wanted to know my danger level.
I don't go to OTF or even work out, so I have no business even being in this thread, but I couldn't resist once I saw it got to 3 pages. I'm so glad I'm here now.

Our OTF finally opened September 15 and I have been going 2x a week since then. Capped at 15 per class. Wait outside 6 feet apart, temp check, questions about any exposure/ recent travel. Then you go in, sanitize your hands, take cleaning wipes, and get assigned a station. We have to keep our masks on the entire time. More wipes to clean your equipment before the switching and then coordinated switches so you're not bumping into anyone. We also exit one group at a time. Classes are reduced to 45 minutes so they have time to clean in between and then the next class does not use the same equipment. I feel very comfortable.

If you honestly think you two have the same scenario, then no wonder you're annoyed with people responding to you.
Everything we do that isn't total isolation has some measure of risk to ourselves and others - and as you yourself said, the fact that you had antibodies in June isn't necessarily relevant to whether you may get sick and/or infect others now. JayTea is saying she and her family are at home for work and school (0 additional Covid points), and she goes to group fitness (+10 Covid points). You, meanwhile, are going to group fitness (+10) and also working as a teacher (+20, assuming your class size is twice the size of the OTF class and since you're with them all day - obviously I'm making up numbers here). You're taking other precautions, like wearing your mask and not visiting at-risk people, but you still have a higher risk than someone who is doing only one of your two high risk activities.
Honestly, I don't care what you do. I wouldn't make your same choice, but I'll save my anger for people who are taking far fewer precautions than you are. But most posters here are pretty conservative, so just take the unsurprising criticism and move on, and don't make false comparisons that imply everyone hates exercise.
Granted they weren’t wearing masks during class, but I honestly don’t know how well masking works while exercising indoors. It just doesn’t seem worth the risk to me.
Oh wow! Yeah, the more I’m thinking about it, the more I’m talking myself out of it. I’ll have to figure something out at home.
I was a 5 day a weeker at OTF for 4.5 years but I will not go back until there is a vaccine that has had time to actually bring the numbers down. What I do is run 3-5 miles 3xs per week and I bought adjustable weights to use with the fitness blender month long programs. The programs are usually are on sale for $5 and they automatically populate a calendar. That way I get a mix of HIIT and weight lifting in a schedule that I don't have to plan - which is what I liked about OTF. All the fitness blender videos are free - I'm just lazy and pay the money to have them put them into order for me.

I can take all the criticism people send my way. I don't think I said "everyone hates exercise" but, okay.
I originally just answered the OP that I was back to OTF and that I felt okay about the risk.
ETA - I said "same scenario" regarding that class time, and the way the studio handles it like hers. Not that we are similar risk levels.
Thanks for all the responses. I actually cancelled my membership yesterday. They were only going to allow 1 more month’s freeze at no cost and then would start charging me $15/month. I asked if I was guaranteed the rate I was paying if/when I am ready to come back and she said yes, so it was a no brainer to outright cancel.
A friend on FB created a workout group and we’ll use beach body to do the 21 day fix together starting next week. Hopefully that will get me motivated enough to continue on after the 3 weeks.

You can exercise in a group to support your mental health in ways that are safer than inside a building without a mask on.
If it is about supporting your instructors offer to do it in ways that don’t put their and their loved ones lives at risk. Offer to attend outdoor or zoom classes or give donations if you can .
I’m one of the biggest mental health advocates on this board and a group fitness instructor so don’t even try to tell me you HAVE to go to a studio for your mental health or to support your gym. There are other SAFER options available.

Uh. I’m not annoyed.
Not you! My point was you mentioned having way less exposure than tamarindy, so you guys aren't living similarly, and no one is going to jump on you for having your outlet.

Dear God. Again, I didn’t say I was living similarly. I said it’s the “same scenario” at the OTF class I go to. The procedures. That’s it. I have no idea where you are getting this.
Also, I love that she can have an outlet but I can’t because I have to teach in person and she stays at home.
The parents of our students threw a maskless gathering, boozing it up, immediately after dropoff the day they finally got their kids back full time instead of hybrid. Believe me, I’m not worried about masking up and going to a distanced class at OTF.
And honestly I would be pretty pissed if I knew my kids teachers were engaging in high risk behavior then going to school to teach.
What? Teachers are being forced back to work. They are getting exposed to whatever those families are exposed to. I don’t blame any of them for saying fuck it and doing what they need to do.
You know there are plenty of moms and dads socializing and probably going to the same gym. Then sending their kids to school. The teacher doesn’t get the same life?
So you think a distanced, masked, fitness class without shared equipment is too high of a risk for teaching?
Curious, do I have a right to be pissed that I teach 100 kids a day who have done whatever they want all weekend?
I think this is a fair point too. For me, it comes back to everyone acting as responsibly as we possibly can (not a dig at you re: OTF, at all), but I definitely see kids/families doing things that I consider very high risk.
I very much appreciate someone at least acknowledging this. I’m sorry, it just gets so sanctimonious for me. I would love to be home. That isn’t an option. I have to teach in person, the kids gather routinely with the blessing of their families, engage in maskless school sports, the parents party together, but god forbid I go to the gym to work out in a mask? Why am I a sacrificial lamb here but can’t do shit for myself? This is where my rage is coming from, lol.
