Let’s consider the Amazon wishlists teachers on this board posted lasted August. Maybe I was generous and sent someone a gift. I didn’t want to give my real name when I sent it. But I did post on here “Hey Teacher Poster! Those crayons are from me!” Then let’s say I say something to Teacher Poster a few weeks later that offends her. And she’s actually furious and wants retaliation. I’d like to trust that she can’t just call Amazon, ask them for the name of the sender (me) and then use that info to Google my address, workplace, etc. So yes, in that case, I have an expectation that Amazon isn’t giving out my name or any personal information when I specifically did not add it to the purchase.
That is quite a scenario.
Well, someone in here did send a bag of dicks to another poster. So it’s not that far-fetched.

That’s actually the story I considered.
Look, I’m not just trying to stretch for stories. Amazon has stated that they won’t even easily give up this info to law enforcement. I see it similar to Europe’s GDPR regulations in terms of privacy. It’s fine to disagree with me, but I’ll never think it isn’t strange that some people here seem angrier at Amazon than OP’s husband.

Since we’ve kind of moved on (for the record I originally stated this was a trust issue and not an Amazon issue back on page 1!), I was wondering in the beginning why a lot of people were so insistent that Amazon is supposed to give the info of the sender. I barely ever order from Amazon but I can totally see Amazon having a general policy to not disclose who the sender is if there’s no gift receipt.
People are crazy and they don’t want to get involved in other people’s drama. I’m thinking things like stalking or child custody stuff. So yeah I could see why they might have a general policy like that to protect themselves and not get involved. Of course since they have a million workers it’s prob easy to find someone who doesn’t know every single one of their policies or doesn’t want to deal with someone bitching at them so gives them the info.
my next steps would probably be checking his credit report for cards you may not know about and phone records honestly...I'd want to know if he was hiding shit.

IME, Amazon sucks at gift receipts even if you requested one. Some gifts ship straight from the manufacturer so they don’t even bother with those. I also barely use Amazon but my husband’s cousins all shipped my kids a lot of gifts last year and I had no clue which cousin sent what. The cousins did not intend for the gifts to be anonymous. Actually now I don’t remember if Amazon shared their names or if I asked the cousins. I haven’t looked at this year’s packages to see what mysteries I have to solve this Christmas.
WE HAVE ALREADY DECIDED THIS IS NOT AN AMAZON PROBLEM! THIS IS A HUSBAND PROBLEM.
And if someone who I bought for the teacher wishlist really wants to stalk me down, go for it. I’m fat, ugly, and boring. YWIA.
I’m 99% you have been very generous to my students. I promise not to track you down unless it’s to send you a Christmas card. (But really, I’m too lazy for that 🤷🏻♀️)

Thank GOD there are so many ppl here willing to debate: 1) what OP must do 2) what the REAL PROBLEM is 3) the intricate red-yarn-across-the-map spiderweb of amazon logistics, true crime, and cybersecurity
