So it was someone in the family who talked to Harry- it had to have been Charles, right? Or William?
My money is on Charles or Philip. I’m leaning towards Charles.
I believe there has been talk for years that Charles wants to scale back the Royal Family. It would make sense he was the one discussing Archie not having a title and having the conversation. She’s speaking fondly of the Queen. I don’t believe she would do so had it been coming from her.
I’m watching. I don’t believe for a minute she didn’t google Harry. Like literally everyone googles their dates in this day and age.
I can kind of see it, She lives in that kind of world where tabloids spread false rumors all the time so maybe she was afraid of reading things and not knowing if she they were true or false.
My BFF wouldn’t google anyone he was dating regardless of their social status (I would google the shit out them for him). I don’t think my H would google either.

I can see it in her social circle, but totally not relatable for me haha. If I was dating today, I would know everything available online about a person down to their shoe size lol!! Totally a character flaw on my part.

I'm not a Queen hater. But she's the one who calls the shots. She could have put a stop to this at any time. She may have been directly nice to Meghan but her people were the bad guys as instructed.

What would you get out of googling Harry? I’m not a Royal fanatic but I feel like I know enough about him to skip google. Now once things got serious I might look up some royal protocol but it sounds like once it got out they were dating his people immediately started coaching her.

Well there was that Halloween costume in 2004. Not a good look at all.

Well, she said she didn’t know she needed to curtsy to the queen, you’d think he would have discussed that with her well in advance.
I think he and his people failed her. Like I said, I would have gotten on google once it was serious. “How to curtesy” would have been top of the list lol.

I knew that without google and would have passed on a first date.

I'm an hour behind because it just started in mountain time zone, but I just don't find that part all that strange. She wouldn't have gotten anything from google on him and I can imagine that as they were casually dating, he might not have necessarily felt the need to educate her on the inner workings of the family. And, like she said, she thought that was stuff people did for show, not actually in private. I can see how he would be in his head enough to think that was just commonplace up until the point of realizing that she's about to meet his grandmother and "oh, shit, there are formalities here that you need to know about..."

Until I watched The Crown I thought it was something in public only as well, not daily living. 🤷♀️
Omg. Talking about the headlines of her vs. Kate, I so badly want her answer to be "I'm Black!" Like, there is nothing more to it than that. How fucking infuriating to see those side by side.

I think he could have done better if she truly didn’t know, generally speaking, about the inner workings of the royal family.
I mean, should he have done better, absolutely. But also... men as a general rule are not great about things like this. It's not surprising. (I'm not letting him off the hook, just commenting on what one could reasonably expect.)
Whoa, is shit getting real? Chuck is not talking to Harry!
I’ve stopped watching b/c my H was ruining it by blurting out obnoxious things, he knows nothing about the royals. I will watch it alone!! Lol
My husband was doing the same, trying to start a side discussion about "What do William and Harry even do? What is the Commonwealth?" He finally shut up because I don't have time to rewatch.

Aren’t the Queen and Harry are quite close? Perhaps Meghan is speaking fondly of her because she was also kind to Meghan?
I’m wondering if he did the 1 year trial because he thought if she thought he was serious about leaving the Queen would finally call out the racism from the firm and shitty press coverage . But alas, she is still firmly “duty to the monarchy before anything else”.

For normal people, sure. I guess I feel like if you’re seriously dating a prince there would be *someone* to help here.
I mean this is isn’t his first rodeo with friends/girlfriends/colleagues meeting the family. I’m sure many of them were British and maybe more tuned in, but I think you can lay some blame there lol. I mean as a layperson I can’t imagine dating a prince and at least jokingly asking if I was to curtsy upon greeting the Queen or whatever other crazy protocols exist. But I am not a beautiful self assured actress who probably gracefully handles tons of different social situations so I can see why she wouldn’t ask.

100%
I believe she was rushed into life as a royal and was not prepared for all the protocols/duties/other stuff that came along with it.

I’m over here still disgusted by Harry’s Halloween costume from year’s past 😡
Regardless of both brother’s failings, I hope they find their way back to each other when William gets his head out of his ass. As a mom, I can’t imagine my kids living through this shared tragedy and experience and have their relationship irrevocably fractured.

And even people who grew up far more in that world had an incredibly hard time (Diana and Fergie). I think they are just not very welcoming to outsiders, period. I think Will and Kate do what they do because they know how real the throne is for them.
I did read that Queen does have a good relationship with both of them.
