I got my first shot yesterday (Moderna) and I felt pretty tired (and a little achy) last night and pretty tired today. But also started my period, so who knows what is related to what.

@crazylucky, how...crazy! lol. I hope everyone is better now. I've only heard about symptom severity and blood type but there was no strong evidence. I'm O+ myself.
Massachusetts is back in the red on the Covid act now map, yet today we go into phase 4 of reopening where stadiums and large venues can open.
ETA - I know our population density in the northeast is working against us but it is disheartening to see other states doing far better when they never took it that seriously. We have a decent % vaccinated and mask wearing has been generally very high in MA, Yet here we are.
*NYC has about 800,000 confirmed cases but that is an large underestimate. Last I heard is serology studies indicate about 20% of the city had the virus at some point so closer to 1.7 million folks and we're approaching 2 million with one vaccine and approx. 1 million with complete vaccine doses. I know these overlap to some degree but it does show that a high level of vaccines and/or containment measures are needed for this virus to really stop spreading.
I just looked at my ZIP code's numbers. We've had just a hair under 10% positivity in the last several days, which is just insane. But I am not sure if we should be focusing on this number as much anymore? Fully-vaccinated people are probably less likely to go get tested. When I had what I was 99% sure were allergies last week I went to go get rapid tested but even I had to talk myself into it because I'm fully vaccinated. Not everyone will be making the same decision to get tested if they have allergy or other minor symptoms. And our cases per capita *are* lower than before even though positivity has gone up.
But yeah, I checked the vaccination numbers on the NYC dashboard and they're progressing, but that's still ~6 million completely unvaccinated people in this city even if close to 2 million partially (or more) vaccinated sounds impressive. Of course the virus will still circulate, plus maybe reinfections have been happening more around here - haven't heard anything on that front yet.
The more people get vaccines the more I feel like I am never going to be able to get one. It is a weird illogical feeling. I know it makes sense for me to be near the end because I am in my 30s with no health conditions and can work from home, but I still don't like it. And, because everything is illogical, I am also afraid of getting the shot and having side effects. And the newness of the shot. I keep thinking the term "vaccine hesitancy" is weird because I am both very hesitant and very impatient. I also worry about who is giving out shots and their experience when I hear that chiropractors and veterinarians are working in the clinics. I'm sure it is a reasonable way to expand clinic capacity but it makes me uneasy. I am very anxious about both getting covid and getting the vaccine and I am afraid one of my family members is going to expose me before I get vaccinated because restrictions are starting to loosen up here.

This worries me the least. Intramuscular shots are so easy to give. You could probably be trained within 15 min.
I'm seeing mostly Moderna here. Who has had Pfizer? Just curious what your second shot experience was. I'm scheduled for my second during a busy week at work and getting nervous

I believe this is true. I also know the one time I got a flu shot at a shot clinic instead of a doctor's office they hit a nerve and my arm and neck bothered me for a "long time". I don't remember if it was days or weeks because it has probably been 10 years, but I remember it as a long time. I have even given myself injections under the skin, but knowing that doesn't help either. I am a mess of anxiety and anecdotes and I know that when I get this way the only way out is through.

Slight nausea after second dose for about 8 hours. Nothing bad.

Pfizer here. I got my second shot at 7:30 am. I required a second breakfast on the way home lol, but otherwise just a sore arm and I went to bed that night slightly earlier than usual. I took the days off but I would have remained productive at work through it.
I just had to convince several people in my work group to sign up via work for the vaccine. They were holding off because they didn't want to take a spot from someone else. OMGAWD! Express interest so that we can get the supply we need. We're eligible. Sign up!

Literally laughed at second breakfast. After my first, I pretty much slept all weekend but felt ok other than the sore arm. I'm scheduled for lunchtime on Thursday and have to present to management late morning Friday. Hopefully if it's bad I can log off after that.

DH had Pfizer. After his second he just felt a bit tired and worn out. Nothing major. Itâs important to be well hydrated before your vaccine. It seems to help.

add my husband (Pfizer) to the list of people surprised they would get a bad post vaccine reaction.

DH had Pfizer. After each dose, he came home and took a long nap that evening and slept in the following day. He had a headache after the first one (but heâs also prone to headaches, so no idea if it was related). His arm was sore for a couple of days, but he was otherwise fine.
I had Moderna. The first dose knocked me back, which took me by surprise. Fatigue, brain fog, and nausea the next day along with an incredibly sore arm. The second dose was a bear, and DH asked me at least once if I needed to go to urgent care that night: severe body aches and fatigue. I did take some Tylenol at some point that night and that made a huge difference. I slept most of the following day, and by the second day, I was back at 100%.

My neighbor (small private school teacher) and her H (has active emt cert although he does something for a private company now) said the same to me...and I was like yeah, it doesnât work that way. Go get your dang shot.
NY has opened up to age 50-59 as of today, so at least it's something. No idea when the needle will move again. Since I'm 39, I will need not just one more decade expansion, but two.
I am simultaneously struggling with the waiting game on a vaccine and on house hunting. Houses are flying off the market, within a day of showings beginning, at asking +20%. Both processes are independently frustrating, but together they just amplify how frustrating it is to just... wait.
So many people in MN are jumping ahead because pharmacies aren't checking eligibility, it is just based on you verifying you have an underlying issue or are an eligible work status.
This is happening here also with two large hospital sites and also a retail pharmacy. You just have to âattestâ you qualify by checking a box. People seem to give no craps they are cutting the line. I donât think itâs right but it feels sucky getting left behind:
I expect to have a reaction to my second dose of moderna (not sure I've heard of anyone getting moderna and not having a reaction...) but either way I'm using it as an excuse to nap all day.

Veterinarians give intramuscular shots all the time. I don't know about chiros but they should have a good understanding of the usual location of nerves too. I have massive medical anxiety and garden variety anxiety too. I totally understand. If you can get a MyChart account set up with Denver Health, it might be a good option for you? It was really well done; very organized, nurses/doctors all around, choice of arm, etc.. It was much lower stress than I was expecting.

I didnât have any major reaction after being with moderna. I donât know which vaccine my partner had but he also didnât have a major reaction after his vaccine either. Iâm pretty sure my closet friend who is also a doctor said she also had moderna and didnât mention anything major after her vaccines.
Data seems pretty consistent that itâs about 50% of people who have reactions, so it really is a coin-flip about how youâll feel after being vaccinated.
