Family vacations are a twist on labor and delivery in that you're all crammed into one room, someone is always hungry, someone else is crying, and someone's screaming in pain. Bonus points if you brought a dog.

Summer vacation in a hot place. I am grateful to be on vacation, but we've decided we are never again traveling to somewhere that it is 90 degrees and humid at the height of tourist season. So many people, so many lines to do anything, and so little stuff to do in the AC.

Along with that, the beach. I LOVE being near water and and being IN water is fun for a bit, but we both have very fair skin and burn easily, plus hate being hot. My ideal would be to show up, take a 15 minute dip, and be done with it. If I can hang out by the water up north wearing regular clothes and just chill, though, sign me up!

Large parties. I find them boring. I'm not talking like a small dinner party where I know most everyone, but a big party where the hosts know everyone and I don't. I'd rather just get together with my friends.

I do not find morning sex appealing at all.  You have to get up and brush teeth to get rid of morning funk breath, unless yo go Pretty Woman style and have sex without any kissing, but even then you don't want to be facing each other.  And really, I would rather sleep more.

Movie theater popcorn tastes good but I always overeat it and then end up with a stomach ache. Every damn time.

I can accept disagreement on the second. Being hungover at work the next day isn’t fun, but sometimes it’s worth it.

Sex involving food. Keep that chocolate sauce and whipped cream to yourself. That’s a different kind of messy and sticky we don’t need to deal with.

Long walks/bike rides. You get where you’re going and still have to get all the way back. No thanks.

Tent camping. Expensive and a lot of prep to pretend to be homeless. I’m down with a cabin with indoor plumbing but not camping.

Many of the mommy and me activities. I’d sort of rather have just the mommy by herself thing going on.

DIY home projects. Some are great; some are too much work and will never actually be finished.

ETA: Kids sports. Right about week number two of the season and I’m a little over it.

I’ve been caught in a bait and switch situation with MLMs before and it sucks. “Come by my house for a fun girls night and we’ll eat and visit” but they leave out the part where they’re going to try to sell you makeup/kitchenware/clothing/other crap you don’t need.

Right? Like why do we still do this for funerals? The last few funeral processions I’ve driven in, I’ve nearly gotten hit by oncoming traffic. Like three or four times! Blinkers during the day have NO EFFECT, nor do the placards.

So much yes to the caravanning, I almost always prefer having my own car so I can arrive and leave when I want - mostly for longer trips. Like years ago a 5 hour ride to a friend’s wedding, I was going to drive up with another girlfriend but then my grandmother died and I needed to attend her wake before I left and I would miss the post rehearsal dinner celebration. I told my friend to ride up with other friends and not wait for me since I wouldn’t even get there until after midnight. My boyfriend at the time was so aghast that my friend didn’t wait to ride up with me and that I had to make that drive on my own. I didn’t care at all.

On the way back that friend rode with me and was so hungover that I kept having to stop so she could run to a bathroom. I was soooo irritated and just wanted to get home!!
