Every time I see you as the most recent post in here I’m so hopeful you’re posting your forgiveness. Hurry up fedloans and dept of ed!!
Lol and yes! I think I’m really close now. I noticed my FedLoan balance went up by just under $5k, and I’m assuming that’s taking it to the balance as of when I had 120 payments.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.

Eeeek!!! I usually see that when forgiveness is impending and that's the amount of your refund!!

Yes! I signed on again this afternoon and have zeroes! The refund is larger than I’d expected, so I think they counted the 18mo I was placed in forbearance right after my Grace period, due to bad advice from DLS.

Yahoo!!!!! I'm so so so so happy for you!! What a long and winding road it's been.
We've been seeing some examples of forbearances counting and based on the new press release today it makes sense. The plus side of the long and winding road you had is that you were able to benefit from this new change!

Press release on one time change to how forbearance will be addressed.
My understanding at this point is if you had a forbearance of over 12 months or a cumulative forbearance of 36+ months, that time will now count for both the pslf program and the IBR forgiveness programs.

Do people have to apply for this? (I promise to read the article at lunch!)
Allegedly it will be automatic "later this year". There are already reports of these periods coming back as qualifying from waiver review with the Dept of Ed in the the past few weeks, which confused the heck out of us but now makes sense.
For those less than 12 months in a row and less than 36 months cumulative- they say you'll have to submit through the ombudsman for review. But I think waiting to see how things shake out is wise. They've been pretty liberal with interpretation of the pslf waiver and I'm thinking they may be with this too. We shall see.

So, my loans were consolidated but the original loans are still showing as well. It basically doubled my balance. This is normal, right? The original loans will fall off…

Yep! Totally normal!
Thank you! Wasn’t sure if I needed to make a call or not.
Um holy shit, H’s loans were paid in full! I mean on Monday he had no qualifying payment and it’s totally paid in full, letter is there dated today. I’m in shock.
They must have really sped up the process!! I feel kind of bad since so many went through so much shit, including you!
Recent consolidators are on some weird fast track. We've seen it time and again on the fb page. My hypothesis is that there is something about the consolidation process that makes it easier for the dept of ed to process the forgiveness. That's why I was convinced he'd be forgiven before me for a while there.

Can’t thank you guys enough!!!!
HOORAY!!!!!! SO exciting! I hope you have a big plan to celebrate!!!!!!

Super congratulations! So excited to see these come through! Think of all the (more) wine you can buy now
Me too! But I feel like I have to be close! If it’s been more than 120 days since you submitted what should be your last piece of paperwork, I’d message them on fb and wait for a response / call back.

Hi all! I am slowly reading through everything and had a question.
I’ve got a FedLoan account and can see they are working on consolidating my NelNet loan to DirectLoans. I have all but one of my employer forms. Once I have that, can I upload before the loan is consolidated? Or should I wait?

Yes. I submitted everything all at the same time. You have the account so it's all linked to your name.

To be safest, wait until it's fully consolidated and showing correctly on FedLoan and then upload through the FedLoan portal.
In about 98% of the cases, uploading before the consolidation goes through is fine, but I've seen a few where the application was "put on hold" if it was sent pre-consolidation.

Same! The waiting is hard. It’s only been about 10 weeks for me, and folks I’m seeing getting forgiven or updated counts submitted roughly two weeks-month before I did. So I’m trying to wait until June 1 to contact anyone.

Thanks for this. I’ll have to pull out my last letter and take a look. I’ve been trying not to obsess over it, but….

Went back and looked and my denial letter was 2/25/22 so it’s only been 60 days. I’m impatient!! Especially since I feel like mine should be easy/low hanging fruit - fed loans consolidated in 2005, payments since 2005, Fed since 2009 - apply the waiver!!
Just an fyi to go back and check your FedLoan account a few days after forgiveness. I just did and see a pending payment of almost $5k, the amount I’m expecting as a refund based on the increase in my balance just before the waiver applied.
For timeline, I applied in early November, acknowledged right away but loans didn’t transfer from my servicer until April. I also had a FFEL loan that consolidated in December and was forgiven in February. Waiver applied to my remaining loans last week.

But don't be concerned if you don't see anything because there is a short time period when you can see the refund balance, I missed seeing how much I was getting so it was a nice surprise to get the over $5k check in the mail!!

How long did it take for the check to show up in the mail for you post forgiveness?
I've gotten confirmation from the ombudsman that I should have a refund, but have seen zero evidence of it on fedloan and my paid in full date on FSA is wrong. I pointed that out to ombudsman contact and she told me not to worry but uhm, I'm worried lol.
