Anyone here in this week's forgiveness wave? Who is still waiting?
I'm still waiting. It's been almost 3 months since they received my PSLF application. I consolidated my loans before submitting. I've read on the FB page that they are taking longer to process applications.

I’m still waiting. From the FB group, it looks like folks who submitted about a month before me (I submitted PSLF app mid-Feb) are getting forgiven now, so I’m hanging tight. With the news that they will count periods of forbearance over 12 months, I think I might actually hit 120 instead of the 112-115ish I had planned on.

My husband is still waiting. His original servicers was ACS/Direct and payments before June 2012 haven't been added to his count. If there were added to his count, he would have trophies and would be owed a 5-figure refund.
His paperwork for PSLF was submitted Nov 2021 and he got the waiver applied to his account for loan payments from June 2012 to now.

I had ACS/DLS pre June 2012 and those counts were eventually added for me. Was he listed as "in repayment" or is he in the mysterious years longs forbearance and/or grace period when he looks at loan status history on studentaid.gov? If it's "in repayment" - that it easier for them to add. If it's listed in the mysterious forbearance/grace - they have to dig into it by account by account. If by chance his forgiven without those counts added (you'll know based on the effective date of his forgiveness) then submit to the reconsideration portal. But hopefully it won't come to that!

He won't be forgiven without those counts added or a new ECF from his employer that is signed next month. (Nov 2021-Current haven't been added due to the prior ECF signed in October 2021.)

Ooh that's beautiful! My guess is that they'll be uddated in the next few weeks. Things have been really piecemeal lately.

Let's hope!!! It would be nice to have them forgiven soon. I really don't want to have to go the route of filing a reconsideration or anything else.
I have no idea what's happening with mine. I applied to consolidate in October/November. Then had to pick a different payment plan. Then filled out the PSLF and faxed it in. Now it just says I don't need to make a payment until September, but my total amount hasn't changed. I have no idea if the paperwork went through. It's all so confusing. I also feel like I made a huge mistake because it upped my payment so much on the income driven plan that I really can't afford it. Oh it also says I've made zero qualifying payments when I've been paying for years. I'm over it all!!

Do you have any letters in your fedloan inbox?
The most recent thing I have is from 3/31 that said they received my PSLF application, but nothing in regards to payments made or anything. It's crazy to me that I've been working on this since late October and really nothing has been accomplished.

This is actually a good sign! FedLoan does their count first, then they send it to Dept of Ed for waiver review. This is where the pre-consolidation counts will come.
Are you in the fb group? There is a.good post there that outlines the "steps" through the process.
Thanks! I'm just happy that I'm putting this very specific knowledge to good use!
Yeah, I’m realizing even though I went through it via H, I still have no idea wtf any of it means/is, lol. I’ve said it before, but you honestly could charge people to help them through this.
Seriously, gretchenindisguise. You really could do this as a side hustle.

I'd recommend sending a FB message - your timeline seems a little long. When did you submit the application? I submitted in Oct and was forgiven about 2 months ago - but I was already consolidated which did speed the process up some but yours still seems somewhat long.

I'm in the group, but haven't looked at it in a while because I was too overwhelmed. 🤦🏼♀️ Thank you...I will check it out!

3/31 was the most recent thing listed, saying that my application was accepted. Who would I message? The FB group or someone at fed loans? I mean, at this point, I probably won't message anyone until June when I am done with school for the year anyway.

You’ve still got a while to wait then. It’s about 120 days at the moment.
One thing we did different b/c we didn’t know was to apply first. H submitted the PSLF application before we even knew he had to consolidate or transfer them to fedloan. I don’t know if that ended up helping the process go rather quick?
I applied first too - but not because I didn't know I was already consolidated though so that may have made a difference. They took care of the transfer as a result of my app so I think either way is fine!

The risk of applying before consolidating is if certain loans are already the right type of loan and eligible, they may be forgiven before the consolidation goes through and that can make things a lot more challenging if the non-consolidated loans are on a different payment timeline. A loophole of the waiver is allowing the highest payment count to apply to all consolidated loans.
For anyone waiting, double check all of your loans are Direct and all the paperwork you uploaded was correct. Consolidate asap if loan types aren’t right. I’d wait 120 days from application confirmation before following up with them. The confirmation usually comes within a few days of submitting. If you are close to 120 months, and months have passed since you submitted, fill out another ECF once you think you’ve hit 120.
I was in the group that was forgiven this week. $38,000! Consolidation was approved in December and PSFL was submitted in early January. Received letter that I only had 2 qualifying payments 3 weeks ago. Obsessively checking fedloan to see what my overpayment will be but still says $0. That should be a decent amount since my overpayments have been since 2017.
The Facebook page was very helpful in the beginning of the process.

Woohoo!! Congratulations!
If you just consolidated in December though, there will be no refund. Only if you had paid over 120 on the consolidation loan.

Boo! I don't like the second half of your response. I'm glad you told me that, though, so I don't get disappointed later.

Does anyone know (and have a link to a viable source) if an eligible employer for PSLF that uses a PEO will still work?
We are thinking of moving our library to a PEO provider rather than an in-house HR person and want to make sure we won't cause issues for those of us that are trying to qualify for forgiveness.
I'm almost positive I saw a reference to this being okay on the studentaid.gov site but I can't find it anywhere now.

I found this on studentaid.gov almost at the bottom.
A special note about professional employer organizations
A professional employer organization (or PEO) is an organization that might employ you on paper for things like tax reporting or benefits. These organizations are almost always for-profit organizations, and therefore they don’t qualify in their own right. But they will often issue your W-2 under your true employer’s name but with their EIN. Some examples of PEOs are ADP, Insperity, and TriNet (just to name a few).
This is the only time you’ll hear us say this: In this case, you shouldn’t use your W-2 to guide your submission on the PSLF Help Tool. We’ve done a fairly good job at tracking down the EINs that PEOs use to issue W-2s through. So if you search for an EIN that comes back as ineligible but is associated with a company that you don’t work for, it’s entirely possible that the name you’re seeing is the PEO’s name.
If this happens to you, we recommend asking your employer about the name of the company. Specifically, ask whether they are partnered with this PEO to handle some of the human resources work that goes into employing you. If the answer is yes, ask your employer for their EIN, not the one on your W-2, and enter that into the PSLF Help Tool instead. If you make your submission using the EIN of the PEO provider, then when we review your submission, we will ask you to use the PSLF Help Tool again using the EIN of your actual employer instead of the PEO provider.
