Gah that is super frustrating. I hope they figure out your correct payment number asap.
Eh from what I’ve seen it’s to be expected and most receive wildly inaccurate payment counts on that first perusal. Then a flurry of additional denials. Then forgiveness.
I don’t think most ever see their counts go up on FedLoan. They just get notice that Dept Ed found their counts and they are forgiven. That’s what I expect for me.
The really frustrating point has been that I was with Fedloan from 2012 through Nov 2021. I submitted my application and the day after they received it they transferred my loans. Once it was processed they sent them back. It was just stupid.
But they’re back and I’m on “track” best I can tell. I think mine will be gone in 4-6 weeks. Hopefully sooner.
This was my experience - I never saw my counts go up on FedLoan but them BOOM - got the good news!

Well, there is FINALLY some movement on my account! They are now "tracking" my qualifying payments. So far only 1 payment is showing as qualifying, but I had like 4 letters in my fedloan acct today (why 4? no idea). My concern is that my math is off and they are going to make me track down my one short term (8 month) employer to sign my form. If my math is right, it won't matter about them because I have been in qualifying employment since 2007 (and bc I had FFEL loans until November 2021, I won't be eligible for a refund, so I don't really care about this one employer).
So, still to be determined exactly how this will play out, but they have at least reviewed my stuff! Whew! One more hurdle crossed
Mine’s been stuck with my app acknowledged by mid-November, but no movement from Mohela and no approved employment, so I submitted a complaint on the Federal student aid website so I get in the queue for an ombudsman.

Looks like today is another forgiveness batch by the looks of FB and reddit.
Any of you lucky to be in this batch?
No so far. But all the recent activity on my account is only 1 week old. And then, I figured out that one of the many MANY letters from last week was that one of my signatures from an employer wasn't sufficient. Which, thank goodness I knew this might be a problem for 1 b/c the letter didn't tell me WHICH employer signed wrong. But, that was an easy fix and I uploaded the new form with the correct sig middle of last week.
At this point, I'll just be happy if they forgive my loans before payments resume in May.
gretchenindisguise , or anyone who knows - I’m back with another question. We got something in the mail stating the consolidation would occur on 2/23. I just went to the student aid website and it says on 1/30 his loans went into forbearance, is this part of the process? Did that happen when he applied for the consolidation?
ETA: and when I go to nelnet, where his loans were/are it says no payment due until April???

Yup, part of the process to go into forbearance.
There is also apparently a time period where both the old loans + the new consolidation loan may all show on student aid - so it temporarily looks like your loans have doubled. That is normal too - it will right itself a few days later.

You should start charging for your services!!! Not slightly joking lol

Agreed! Between this thread and the FB group (which is…intense) I have gotten so much info that either isn’t on or is a slog to find on the .gov site.

I got a notification that my credit score had dropped and I looked and it was because my loans were reported at old servicer and FedLoan. Luckily I don’t need a loan or anything soon!

I’m getting a great dinner, right???
But seriously, I’m just happy to pass along knowledge that I gained for free. I want everyone to benefit from pslf that can.

It's just because your loans were probably your longest debt. You should see it recover after a bit.
This is so amazing! I love hearing everyone’s forgiveness stories 🍾 Someone in the fb group had close to half a million forgiven 😳 I think that was for themselves and offspring.
I’m trying to be patient, although I feel like it’s going to be weirdly anticlimactic since it’s for the loans I was planning to focus on last and I’ve kind of ignored them, aside from being on autopay and automatically stopping payments during Covid. If I was currently paying them I’d definitely feel the difference in my monthly budget.

It is kind of anticlimactic coming off of this forbearance period! Mine were forgiven last month and while I'm thrilled, I feel like I would have been even moreso if it impacted my current budget at all. Since I haven't paid in 2 years AND we are now focusing on paying off my H's loans as quickly as possible, it feels more theoretical than like an actual change. We are still sending 1k a month toward student loans... Not complaining about saving 43k myself though!
I love seeing that people here are continuing to get some progress - looking forward to the rest of you being forgiven soon!

My brother currently has a quarter of a million in loans for his large animal veterinarian degrees. He doesn't have 10 years in yet but has always worked for state universities in the hope that one day he will be able to obtain forgiveness.

Is he in the program and regularly reporting employment? If not, he should do it now / before October so he can get grandfathered into the waiver for all his previous payments and make sure there’s no issues. The problem with the program is that a lot of people tried for forgiveness 5 or 10 years in and got denied on some technicality and were told they’d have to start the 10 year clock over again. It could impact his future payments but with that much in loans I think it’s worth it to make sure his time served will count.

Haha I actually texted him this morning about this exact thing after reading this thread. He said he has already filed and has his employment verified annually. He is 5 years in so half way there.
I finally caved and called today and I'm really glad I did.
I have been getting so frustrated by people who applied way after me getting forgiveness - not frustrated that they were forgiven - I'm thrilled for them, but frustrated that mine seem to have been forgotten. So I called - less than 5 minute wait time because most people think they're closed today.
Turns out that my most recent ECF submitted 11/23, that has a corrected signature for my 8 year employer and will put me way over 120 payments was marked "as a duplicate" and glossed over. The woman I spoke with put it in for review, and said I should have results from that in 10-15 business days. I also asked if my account had already been sent to Dept of Ed for waiver review, and she said it had - so fingers crossed once this ECF is approved it all happens quickly.
Once again I'm feeling so annoyed but also cautiously hopeful.

I submitted all of my employer forms a while back (1st one just over 2 months ago) and my account still says that they are not tracking my payments. I know it can take a while but I feel like I am doing something wrong? Do I just need to be patient?
