Does anyone know were there cameras inside the school? Do schools even have cameras inside?
Yes, schools often have cameras and yes, Robb Elementary did. It is mentioned when they talk about the teacher who propped the door open. It's possible there are only cameras at the entrances.

I don’t know if this school had cameras inside but I do know that my building has cameras inside but only in the hallways, not the classrooms. They have used the cameras in the past for things like seeing who went into a classroom when something was reported missing. I don’t know how long the recordings are kept.
Every building has at least 2 security guards. The middle and high school have more guards but that’s because they have more students and there are frequent fights.

The chief of police to the school district was elected earlier in May to the Uvalde City Council. He was supposed to be sworn in tomorrow but the mayor has postponed the ceremony. But has said he will still be sworn in at a later day.

I just read that we have a federal grant program to raze and/or renovate schools after mass shootings. I'm glad that steps are taken to not further traumatize students and staff, but holy hell that people went thru the steps to get this approved and yet gun restriction legislation has not happened.

They definitely mentioned camera footage. I have to imagine there are cameras everywhere. My kids' school looks like a fucking security system in a casino.
This case is so disturbing. And that off-duty tactical border agent deserves a god damn purple heart or the civilian equivalent. Seriously.

Elie Mystal mentioned on Twitter about how there are still 33 decisions left for SCOTUS to release, but none scheduled at all this week. He suspects the gun case from NY would have been released this week but that they pulled back for, well, obvious reasons. It's the oldest case left.
While this may not change anything in many states, it's going to have a ton of impacts on NY and other states with carrying restrictions. June is going to be ugly.
I know this is a comedian heckling Wayne LaPierre, but just hearing this argument out loud over and over really punctuates the insanity/stupidity of it.

A cousin who is very pro-gun would not have seen the satire in this. He literally posted something in the past few days about how we all need more Jesus and prayer. He would have given this guy a standing ovation. Yes! More prayer!

It seemed like even some of the people in the room felt that way as well.

So is there one single thing that the authorities have not lied about?
Investigators initially said the teacher had propped the door open with a rock and did not remove it before Salvador Ramos, 18, entered the building May 24. Investigators have now determined that the teacher, who has not been identified, removed the rock and closed the door when she realized there was a shooter on campus but that it did not lock, said Travis Considine, chief communications officer for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

What?!?!
The Uvalde Police Department and the Uvalde Independent School District police force are no longer cooperating with the Texas Department of Public Safety's investigation into the massacre at Robb Elementary School and the state's review of the law enforcement response, multiple law enforcement sources tell ABC News.
and
Chief Pete Arredondo has not responded to the Texas Rangers in two days for a follow-up interview from his initial statement immediately after the mass shooting, DPS spokesman Travis Considine said.

Don’t the police always say if you don’t cooperate or need a lawyer for questioning it’s because your guilty?! I mean, I’m pro-lawyer all the time but the cops act like you have something to hide…

The pictures of the casket designer and those tiny, decorated caskets 😭
This killed me. I can't imagine the heartbreak. Picking out a casket 'theme' for a child... thinking about their current interests, the way I would pick out a backpack/lunch box from Pottery Barn. It's all just too terrible.

He lawyered up. And as a lawyer, the first thing you say to a client is to shut the fuck up. It doesn't necessarily mean he will not cooperate but his cooperation will go through his lawyer.
Also, the DOJ has very limiting ability to force something as they are just investigational. The FBI or the DA needs to get involved with a grand jury to force cooperation with subpoenas and testimony. I hope that happens as it fucking should.
Don't be surprised when videos go missing or all 19 cops have malfunctioning cameras. I hate this already.
The school district’s chief of police was sworn in to the city council in a secret ceremony yesterday.
Not sure how that doesn’t violate open meetings law. But I’m sure the secret meeting gave them an opportunity to get their stories straight for the first time.
The school district’s chief of police was sworn in to the city council in a secret ceremony yesterday.
In some ridiculous fairness, from what I heard he was previously elected and scheduled for it and this investigation wouldn't bar him. But if he was a decent person he should have already resigned.

I am assuming that the city council approves police budgeting, contracts, etc. So I don’t really understand how he is allowed to be both roles because that means he’s voting on his own job? But I don’t want to distract from the real issues here which are disgusting, basically unlimited gun access and police incompetence / corruption. 😭😭😭

Just a guess but since he is a school district police, their contracts and budgets probably go through school board and not city council. And a conflict of interest doesn't disqualify you from office unless you don't declare it in the paperwork you file to run. Only after the election there are steps you need to take to prevent future issues. Example, I had to resign from the Friends of the Library board when I was elected to the Library's Board of Directors. It was fine until the moment I swore in. And a local teacher had to resign when elected to school board. The current council was put in a no win spot. They can't just ignore election results and there may be a legal thing that new council members must be sworn in by a certain date (a la the term ends on x, so new members must be sworn in by y).I would imagine there is a recall or impeachment stuff going on alongside but you are right, if he was decent, he would have already resigned.

They originally stated that they would postpone since the funerals were starting yesterday but instead of doing that (and honoring what they said) they did it in secret and announced after the fact.
City Hall has locked its doors during business hours and declined to immediately provide any public records to reporters. The chief of the city police force, Daniel Rodriguez, has declined to answer questions about his officers’ response to the shooting. A Uvalde CISD official told a reporter, falsely, that the first school board meeting since the incident would be closed to the public.
An Uvalde County sheriff’s deputy who was among the first responders to the shooting, however, said dispatchers did relay over the radio that students were making 911 calls from inside the adjoining classrooms where the gunman was.

They are all lying liars who lie. The people of Uvalde need answers and not a cover up.

The latest reports is that the school police chief also did not have a radio while acting as incident command which is utterly mind blowing to me (and to DH). IC doesn't sit on a throne and get their information run to them... a radio is a basic, basic tool. Unreal. 17 minute 911 call from a fourth grader but this fucker didn't have a radio.
At this point I think it's just another lie to try to deflect.
This is an interview with the woman who drove 49 miles from work, got cuffed and detained, got out of cuffs, climbed a fence, and rescued her own kids from inside the school. This woman is the true American hero.
Authorities called her and threatened to charge her if she spoke to the media. A judge reassured her she could do so.
CBS News also reported that Gomez, who is reportedly on probation for previous charges against her, claimed that she had received a call from “someone in law enforcement” telling her that if she kept talking to the media and sharing her story she might face some kind of violation for obstruction of justice.
The parents of one of the 19 children killed during the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, and a Robb Elementary School staffer who fled from the gunman and hid in the school have taken the first steps toward suing the gunmaker that produced the AR-15-style rifle used in the massacre.
