So much horror lol. I said “nope” and shielded my eyes quite a bit lol
Twitter doesn’t lie, Episode 4 was amazing, particularly the end.
I do think a lot of stuff was too long (the Joyce/Hopper/Russia stuff for example although I did enjoy seeing the Many Faced God guy from GoT) but I enjoyed it.
I saw a tweet that all men should apologize for not being Steve Harrington or Eddie Munson and I concur.
I enjoyed the season although I think the Hopper storyline was too drawn out. Also the SLC road-trip with Will and Mike was too long too. I like the show when they are all together.
I still like season 1 when the kids really are kids.

I just finished ep 4 and I really like that they are letting other characters have time to shine like Max. I'd say so far El has had very little storyline.
I really loved episode 7. From a story standpoint, it was wonderful to get answers to questions I still had about season 1.
I didn’t know there was a second part coming out in July. I suppose I’ll have to be patient.
Steve is the best. Steve and Dustin are the greatest duo. Susie and Erica are such great characters. They don’t always have the most screen time, but when they’re on they steal the scene.
I was so excited to see Robert Englund! They’re really on point with the whole Freddy-esque theme.

I really enjoyed the season. My 10 year old daughter watches it, and I warned her that it was scarier than the other seasons. She's up to episode 4 and still okay. (She has a bunch of friends who watch it and kept asking. I thought it would be too scary, but she kept insisting. I told her she could watch the first episode and see how it goes. She called my bluff and I lost - she loves it.)
I'm usually pretty good at figuring out twists, or I accidentally spoil things by looking up the cast on IMDB, but the last episode totally got me.

Oh just you wait. This was another thing I thought was a bit too drawn out.
We are through episode 4. I gasped when I saw Robert Englund's name in the credits (not having recognized him). My H didn't know his name and I had to tell him that was Freddy Krueger. I was surprised because he's a huge cinephile and normally good with things like that. He was like "I never watched the Friday the 13th movies!" and I said I didn't either but I still know who Robert Englund is!
With the scene with El and Angela and the roller skate, I was like, "Oh, it's a 'Carrie' prom scene thing."
When Paul Reiser was talking to El and trying to convince her that she could retrain to get her powers back, and the whole thing about "I know you want to go to your friends, but if you do it now, you won't help them," my H was like "He basically just told her the entire plot of 'The Empire Strikes Back.'" and I was like, "So El is Luke Skywalker?"
Horror stuff is really not my jam, and I haven't been enjoying this season as much as the first couple. There's less 80's world building going on now (it's well established) but the focus this season is a little different where they are doing callbacks to famous period movies instead. And to that I say, kudos. Mad respect to the producers/writers, especially for hiring Robert Englund. So this is enough to keep me watcing.
I seriously love Steve/Robin, Steve/Dustin, and Erica. Erica smacking down Eddie at the D&D meeting was the BEST. "My name is Lady Applejack, and I'm a chaotic good, half-elf rogue, Level 14. And I will sneak behind any monster you throw my way, and stab them in the back with my poison-soaked kukri."

Haven’t watched yet, but anyone have a good link for recap/review prior to starting season 4?
I need this too. I am so impressed with people with long memories for shows and books. I can finish a series and a week later not remember how it ended.
I’ve seen a few people comment on how much it’s turned to horror. That’s not really my jam, but I want to see the show through.
OH! I forgot I had a question. So they got the idea to use music to save Max because Victor Creel talked about hearing the voice of an angel, blah blah blah. And it worked, yay! BUT. At the end, we find out that 001 never intended to kill his father, he wanted him to be blamed for the murders. So the music DIDN'T save Victor because he was never going to die. So what gives? We're just supposed to buy that it was a really handy coincidence?

We watched the whole season the other day. So good!
I also love always-the-babysitter-Steve and his banter with both Dustin and Robin. I won't be mad if he gets back together with Nancy, though I preferred her with Jonathan in the earlier seasons. Erica is a scene stealer, and I enjoy that the Wheeler house is still the hangout when Mike is out of town.
The parts with Jonathan/Will/Mike dragged a little, as did the early scenes of Hopper, but I assume they will be better integrated in part 2.
In ep 7, I loved the back and forth between the real Hawkins and upside down.
TR , I think the music saving him was a happy coincidence and how the gang/Eddie will save Nancy.
Speaking of music, 12 yo DD is now playing Pass the Dutchi on repeat, which should probably be concerning lol.

I think it was more that the music helps the people in the insane assylum to remember things/calm them down. I think the Nancy and Robin made aconnection between what Creel said and what the director said when they were walking through the rooms to get to Creel. They figured it would help Max, to get her out of 001's control over her mind and remind her of her life and friends.
I liked it! I feel like they do a good job of having interpersonal stuff going on while the action is happening and weaving in new characters.
What are the episodes in July going to be about?
Boss Battle take 2? Lol! They still have to save Hawkins from Vecna. Now that El has her powers back, we get to see if she goes and defeats him. I'm hoping she and Hopper reunite.

I feel like the actress who plays Namcy is so thin she doesn't look healthy..or even..what I remember her looking like in previous seasons.
****trigger warning/spoiler*****
In episode 4, I thought the screenwriters/showrunners did and amazing job of making allusions to what..idk depression, sadness or even suicidal thoughts *feel* like.
Like..Max is caught in the Upside Down, and she is feeling so sad and isolated and has pushed a lot of her support away.
And then, she can see her life, and friends etc really..only she can get back to the other side. They are calling her and trying to help her, but it's her.
I thought it was a well done metaphor, and I'm glad she made it.
I like the story, I like how it came together in Ep 7. But GOOD LORD, they are masters of drawing ALL THE STORIES OUT!!!!! I really got flat out bored at times, especially with El's story in the lab. I read a couple of the replies before I watched all 7 episodes so I was expecting to be bored w/ Hopper/Joyce/Murray. Nope, that story was fine for me compared to El's. In the end, I "get it" - they were setting up the whole thing with 001, finding out who he is, etc. But.... I really just got bored.

Without giving away any spoilers:
I feel like even the characters were like, "this is drawn out."
Dr Owens REPEATEDLY says to Dr Brenner, "don't you think this is taking too long?"
He legit says at one point: "why don't we just directly tell E"

I found it weird that Mike, Will, Jonathan and Argyle aren't even in episode 7. I had to think at the end about where they last left off with those 4.
They definitely embraced a scarier/80s horror movie vibe right down to Vecna shaming Nancy for having sex and blaming that for Barb's death.
I kept getting Robert Downey Jr vibes from Eddie. His face, if you can get passed the hair and his voice.
I do hope they dig into Dr. Brenner and his past. Also, what made Victor Creel and his wife so bad? Do we not know or was it just because of their failed attempts to get 001 help and that the mother disliked him?
Kate Bush is probably loving this time. I heard Running Up the Hill on the radio yesterday and they said it was #1 on the hot 100 list.
Also, what made Victor Creel and his wife so bad? Do we not know or was it just because of their failed attempts to get 001 help and that the mother disliked him?
I think was just his war guilt and the wife not helping in what he felt was enough. I think the motives sort of evolved as time went on and the first ones were just sort of personal.
I read a few recaps of the episodes and I felt like I missed this, but during his time as a soldier, Victor destroyed a home he thought had German soldiers hiding in it, but there werent soldiers, instead a family. He killed the family, including a child. I didn't fully understand the baby burning in the bassinet, but that's what it was.
I agree that it's not clear what the mom did..honestly, it felt like 001 was the kind of psychopath who thought anyone being basic was wrong, given he thinks he is so superior lol.
