Oh.
Paul Ryan, who has criticized former President Donald Trump and his hold on the Republican Party, "found himself sobbing" during the insurrection, journalist Mark Leibovich writes in his forthcoming book, "Thank You For Your Servitude," a copy of which was obtained by CNN.
"I spent my whole adult life in that building," Ryan, who served as a Republican congressman from Wisconsin for two decades, later told Leibovich, according to the book. "And I saw my friends, a lot of cops, some of my old security detail -- I'm still friends with a bunch of those guys. It really disturbed me, foundationally."

DT’s former close adviser Steve Bannon has told the congressional panel investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol that he is ready to testify, a change of heart days before he is due to be tried for contempt of Congress.
In a letter to the committee seen by Reuters, Bannon's lawyer Robert Costello, wrote to say the former president would waive the claim of executive privilege which Bannon had cited in refusing to appear before the committee.
In a letter from Trump to Bannon seen by Reuters, DT said he was waiving executive privilege because he "watched how unfairly you and others have been treated."

Well one outcome might be he is trying to say exonerating things publicly or some such, or he will demand that and they will obviously say no because that would not be savvy and he will go ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ hey I offered to testify.
However, he’s just trying to get in good graces of the jury just ahead of his contempt trial. And anything he says can be used in his trial.
Apparently DT is losing his shit about the hearings over in the Upside Down.
Sen. Lindsey Graham ordered to testify in front of special grand jury in Trump election probe
A Fulton County judge has ordered U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham to testify in front of a special grand jury looking into possible election tampering by former President Donald Trump in the November 2020 election.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ruled Monday that Graham will be required to testify on Aug. 2 after Graham said he would fight a subpoena to testify, citing executive privilege.
I'm terrified of the fact that both Catherine Cortez Masto and Raphael Warnock are in real danger of losing 2 senate seats for Dems. In comparison, John Fetterman, Mark Kelly, and Maggie Hassan are in much better circumstances.

"We couldn’t have reached this milestone without you.
The fight continues at the ballot box in November."
753,759 signatures submitted for a ballot proposal to amend Michigan's state constitution to protect reproductive rights. The most EVER collected for Michigan ballot initiative. For reference, I think there are around 8 million registered voters in Michigan. This was HUGE. I worked on collecting signatures (reached out to my circle via text and email, didn't go stand in front of Kroger or whatever), and got 74 in 4 days. Just me reaching out to friends and neighbors. And I had more people tell me they'd 1) already signed, or 2) wanted to sign but were out of town and wouldn't be back before they were due to our local organizers. AND....they were rationing petitions they would give out. Organizers were literally RUNNING OUT here.
So it may feel hopeless, but people ARE on the ground, doing the work to enact change. Just have to make sure people get their asses to the polls in November.

Our Disgusting Prime Minister Candidates (Tories): (these views are a mix of my own and taken from a variety of sites)
Kemi Badenoch - she speaks against 'wokeness', wants to remove benefits (during a time of more need than ever), "small government" (in other words, give money to rich people), she's anti-net zero targets, approves of the current immigration system.
Suella Braverman - is currently the Attorney General who has most lawyers in the country denouncing her every word, also an anti-woke warrior, wants to demolish regulations and the "rights culture" as well as anything to do with climate change work. She's all about pulling the bridges up after coming from an immigrant family.
Jeremy Hunt - previously known as Jeremy See You Next Tuesday for good reasons, he's for lowering business rates of taxes even more, he's anti-abortion, he chose a running mate who isn't too dissimilar to the choice of Sarah Palin (awful, stupid, awful). He might be the best of the worst, which is not saying much.
Penny Mordaunt - scares the bejeesus out of me because a lot of people like her due to her actually being reasonably intelligent. Have no clue what she actually stands for in terms of her campaign, but she's voted for strict immigration policies, for lowering business taxes. She's part of the ERG, which is a right wing Libertarian group full of murkiness.
Rishi Sunak - comes on tv saying that he'll help with everything that he was involved in destroying. Smarmy wealthy dude who says stuff and does little.
Liz Truss - brainless. Seriously. She's a Thatcherite & Libertarian, which should say it all.
Tom Tugendhat - who dat? He's pretty much an unknown. He kinda sounds like a more traditional 'conservative'.
Nadhim Zahawi - he's a big wealthy Brexiter who is currently being investigated for a variety of financial red flags, he's threatening to cut 20% from the NHS and Education (WTF?). He's a Tory, as they now are, to the core.
Note - only JH, PM, LT and TT are white, so one of them most likely will win because Tory members (who get to vote - and only they do) are full on racists who would not want a POC as a PM.

After round one of the MPs votes/backers, Hunt and Zawahi are gone. More rounds to come, until they get down to 2 candidates for the people to vote for. Right now, Sunak and Mordaunt are on top.
The Idaho Republican Party will consider 31 resolutions at its three-day convention starting Thursday, including one already adopted by Texas Republicans that President Joe Biden isn’t the legitimate leader of the country.
The Idaho resolution in the deeply conservative state that Donald Trump won with 64% of the vote in 2020 is nearly identical to the Texas resolution that was passed last month, stating: “We reject the certified results of the 2020 presidential election; and we hold that acting president Joseph Robinette Biden was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States.”

just like they all voted against the domestic terrorist prevention act following Uvalde and Buffalo.
The House voted late Wednesday night to require top national security agencies to report on and combat white supremacist and neo-Nazi activity in federal law enforcement and the armed forces, in a party-line vote in which House Republicans were unanimously opposed.
The measure, an amendment to the annual military policy bill expected to pass the House late Thursday, directs the F.B.I., the Department of Homeland Security and the Defense Department to “publish a report that analyzes and sets out strategies to combat white supremacist and neo-Nazi activity in the uniformed services and federal law enforcement agencies.”
