I think protocol is to say on your left. I run on a multi use trail and I will say very few bikers give any notification (maybe 25%)? So perhaps her comment was more frustration in general than with you specifically.
ETA: plus if she didn’t hear your bell she can’t comment that she didn’t hear it kwim? It just seems like you came out of nowhere.
Posted trail rules say you must “signal.” And, I hear enough languages around here, that, to me, a bell seems more attention getting than assuming everyone understands English signals.
but yeah, I bet it was overall frustration. Now that I reply the whole thing, H went by her shortly before, and $10 says he didn’t signal 🙄🤬 (this is a whole other discussion topic, which we won’t get into here, but now I’m annoyed that I got the brunt for something he did).

On the trail where I run bikers tend to use a bell more than their voice. More often than not if I say "on your left" the person moves left. So I've started saying "coming up behind" and then just letting them decide which way to go. But I also feel like if you're taking up the entire width of a multi use trail you need to keep an eye out for other users. So I'd say you most definitely aren't the asshole.
I just said to H “hey, you remember that interaction I had with the lady about the bell last week?” He responds 🙄🙄 “I knew you were going to dwell on that…”
And it went downhill from there. Though, he admitted he “probably didn’t” signal before he passed the group. So yeah, I got the brunt of lady’s frustration at him. And, a door slammed on me tonight.
I just spent the weekend wielding a 3lb sledgehammer, removing mortared flagstone from the landing in front of my front door. A buddy came over and helped. (it created a safety hazard because the steps off the landing were very different heights)
And, holy, workout. Dang... I think I every muscle in my arms and shoulders are unhappy with me right now.

Had my last cricket match yesterday for the season. I didn't do as well this year as I had hoped, so hopefully, getting in better shape & getting stronger (lifting) will help for next season. I don't want to be that 50-something year old who can't do because she's ageing (I don't expect to be at my 30-something year old level but I should be better than I was).
Denver has been offering vouchers for e-bikes and I got one! Yay!! I haven't ridden a bike since I was a teenager and didn't do it much then. I was hoping that one of the participating retailers would have a trike. Only one does and it is $$$ and not very powerful. I found an adult bike riding lesson in a couple of weeks to hopefully help build my confidence. I really hope it's not a disaster and that I can learn how to ride a bike again. I know I'm not the only adult that can't ride a bike but it sure feels like it. I'm excited and scared. lol

If you learned before, I am sure you'll pick up on it quickly! I've gone several years between rides in the past (though not 20+ years) and I always feel a bit wobbly at first but quickly get the hang of it. That's so cool that you got a voucher for one!
ETA: also I'm not athletic, like, at all, so that's not why I pick up on it quickly lol.

I do not know how to ride a bike. I learned a little as a child but we didn’t live anywhere where it was safe to do a lot of biking so it was always whole ordeal to go to a park with paved paths etc. My parents knew how but didn’t have bikes. When we’d go on vacation we’d rent a tandem bike or I’d get an adult trike or scooter lol
I’ve been tempted by an adult class so you’ll have to let us know how it goes! What a fun program and good excuse to learn! I have a friend who learned as an adult and got really into it so it is possible!

My husband also doesn’t know how to ride a bike. I tried to teach him when we were younger but we didn’t have a good spot to do it.

I feel this hard. I started playing soccer again a few years ago and while I didn't expect to be at my 20s peak, I didn't expect to be an old lady either...

I bought a bike last summer. Before that, it had been 15+ years since I’d been on a bike. And that was only under duress (or really, bc my then bf wanted us to ride together). I was really nervous my first few times out, but I came back quickly. Now I’m up to 5 or 6 miles at a shot.
p.s. don’t use a bell. Apparently that’s less acceptable than I thought.

One way I manifest my anxiety is over-researching so I googled and the videos I found seem to be the strider bike method where you glide along without using pedals to learn balance. I'm not sure how they teach in the class I'm taking but I hope it's this way because it looks better than how I was taught to ride decades ago.
After being on multiple daily injections of insulin for diabetes for the last 15 years, I am getting an insulin pump! I am so excited about this! I was told a long long time ago that my insulin needs were "too high" and a pump wouldn't work for me, so I just quit asking about it. Apparently this was wrong information (like really wrong).
Today I had my regular quarterly check-in with my endocrinology NP and she asked if I would consider one because I'm the right candidate for it. Hell yes, I will!
The fatigue and anxiety of MDIs and finger sticks and constantly chasing down highs and preventing lows is just so much. Being on a pump doesn't mean everything is automated, but not having to give myself an injection every time I want to eat vs. just plugging in how many carbs I'm going to eat and have the pump dose accordingly is a much better deal!
I have a friend who has T1 and she loves her pump. There's a carb intake/blood sugar ratio she can plug into her pump and it adjusts for her. Super slick! I hope this provides you some relief!
Speaking of cycling, we leave for our bike cruise in a little over two weeks. I'm both excited and nervous. It's about 25-30 miles of biking a day which is a lot more than I normally do. I keep telling myself it's flat but it looks like the first day has some minor hills.
I'm also worried I am going to either overpack or under pack. I really don't know how many pairs of bike shorts, special tops, etc. that I will need.

My DH doesn’t know either and has no desire to learn.
I’m so frustrated right now. We are redoing a bedroom and I ordered furniture to be delivered on Thursday (that was the date when I ordered it). Cleared my schedule. Today, I got an email saying it is going to be delivered tomorrow — and I have two meetings at work (in person) and my husband is taking a deposition (at home, but not available). Grrr. So frustrating and I don’t know what to do. I can’t change the delivery date (already called the store and FedEx) nor can I get them to schedule a time frame for the morning when we’re available.

I was woken up last night at 11pm with excruciating abdominal pain. I deduced based on location and type of pain (and what I ate for dinner), that I was having a gallbladder attack. Those are NO JOKE. It lasted about 15 minutes, and I ended up calling my insurance's 24 hour nurse line, even though I was pretty sure I knew what it was. I will be following up with my PCP tomorrow, but omg. It hurt so bad, I was almost ready to go to the ER. I sincerely hope I can control this with diet and if I get an US, it's not showing a giant stone or anything. Ugh.

ugh, when I had my worst gallbladder attack I did end up in the ER at 4 am. It was terrible.

I did the ER at about 2am. Not so much for pain relief but to get eyes on it while it was happening. In case further testing was inconclusive.

I'm happy to opine on packing for bike trips. Message me.
Also I've done multiple trips of averaging 50 miles a day and I've never ever ever trained with that much mileage. You don't really have to. I've always maxed out at 15-20 miles 2-3 days a week and a slightly longer ride on like 70% of weekends while aiming for 50 mile days. for for like 25 miles days, if you're comfortable doing 10-15 mile for a normal ride, you'll be fine. There will be lunch breaks and photo ops, right? so you'll probably never ride for more than 10 miles without stopping for something.
My wireless printer hasn't worked since we changed internet providers/routers (city utility broadband internet, huzzah!). The internet was, surprisingly, no help. The manufacturers website was no help. I tried connecting with a cable and that didn't work. Basically I figured I now had a really expensive block of junk in my house.
However, I reeeeeaaaally needed to print something today so I button mashed until I got to a sub menu of a sub menu and was able to input data to get the damn thing working again. I'm so HAPPY that I got it to work.

I am impressed! The same thing happened to our printer and even after downloading the latest drivers I have not been able to get it to work.
Printing out crochet patterns at FedEx or Office Depot is expensive 😵

My last gallbladder attack had me curled up in a fetal position on the floor beside the bed, which is how my husband found me when he woke up for work. I think I was trying to get to living room, so I could refer to Dr. Google.
DH promptly took me to the ER, where I was on a morphine drip before DH had finished filling out the paperwork for my intake. Gall bladder was handed an eviction notice later that day, and I was on my way home from the hospital the next morning, with a little cup containing my gall stones (they decided I should keep them?!).
