@sameoldstory , in regards to the THC - you might be like me and meds just do not work no matter how much you take. I had genetic testing done and my body metabolizes everything incredibly fast, that is why nothing works for me.
A great example I can give right now is Ritalin (the generic is methylphenidate). Most people take 10 mg. I took 60mg this AM and it is not working.
It's the same with alcohol for me. I can drink everyone under the table and never get drunk.
Interesting. I had some genetic testing done at some point that shows that I metabolize several medications very quickly, we were testing various anxiety meds. I also have an extremely high tolerance for alcohol (I drank a pint glass of whiskey last night and barely had a buzz) and don't even bother with things like Vicodin when I'm injured because even the highest dose doesn't help with pain, but never really put two and two together.
I also double checked the packaging and it is definitely 5mg per 5mL, so I definitely took 50mg.
I can't drive by an dog without saying hello to it. I mean I say it to myself in my car, I don't stop and actually say hi I will just quietly say "hello pup-pup".
I've (stupidly) agreed to host Friendsgiving for our friend group. It shouldn't be tooo bad, since I only have to do the main dish and everyone else brings sides, apps and desserts (I'll probably also make an app and/or a dessert, depending on what needs to be filled in). I keep having nightmares about it though. Like, I forget to clean my house before and everything is a disaster. Or I burn dinner.
It's going to be 10 adults and 8 kids (age 11 months-13 years). And my house is tiny. So that is what is stressing me out the most. We've hosted everyone before, but always in the summer when people can be outside. We do have a partially finished basement, so that will help.
I don't know what to make for the main dish either. Not turkey. We're doing it the weekend before Thanksgiving and I don't like turkey enough to have it twice in a week. I'm thinking either an apple/cornbread stuffed pork loin or having H smoke a pork butt and have pulled pork sandwiches.
So our dog suddenly started limping on her right leg/paw on Sunday and by Monday night, her paw and ankle just ballooned with awful swelling. We had taken her in to the vet on Monday and they did X Rays and just saw her arthritis. She has bad arthritis in virtually every joint, poor thing, and she is on several supplements/meds/special food for it plus we do cold laser therapy but she still does have flare-ups. We thought maybe it was a flare up.
The swelling just got worse and she was not getting better. So then we were thinking, ok, maybe this is a sprain. We took her back today and I am SO GLAD we did because upon a second exam of the paw in question, the vet found an infected abscess hidden between her toes that was not there Monday (she said it probably was so tiny and maybe a pinprick at that point and just got worse because it wasn't treated). It is probably something like a bug bite/sting or splinter. So we're on antibiotics know and are hopeful this is what caused the whole episode and can soon be on the road to recovery! I was really dreading 6-8 weeks of no activity and recovery to get over a sprain.

NewGirlNic no one will be looking as closely at your house as you do. They will be greatful you did all the work of hosting so they can relax and have fun.

Same here with vicodin. I currently have a broken foot and no pain meds are touching it.

I put the dogs in the backyard when I got back from the store. I went out front to get my groceries and they started to bark.
I saw/heard a noisy mail truck go down street as I opened the door so I figured that what they were barking about. I loudly called across my front yard and told them to stop barking because we love mail and the mailman. Then I turned around, arms full of groceries, and there was our mailman with a handful of my mail. I don’t know who was driving the truck but he was right there and heard me declare my love. He just laughed and we chatted. At least it was the cute, nice mailman and not the old surly one we used to have.

This is super random, but I cringe every time I see someone post used shoes/boots for sale on a local FB sale site and put said used shoes/boots on a table or countertop for display. So gross! Hopefully they sanitize the surface really well after the photos are taken.
I am meeting a friend that I used to work with for dinner tonight, I haven't seen her in probably about 5 years but we've kept in touch via text. It will be really nice to catch up. I'm really making an effort with friendships lately, which seem a lot harder in middle age!

Ugh. The weekend before last, we boarded my pups to go out of town. On Wed. after, one of them started having goopey discharge from her eye. I ignored if for a day, hoping it would go away, but it didn't, so I called the vet on Friday, but stupidly forgot our vet closes at noon on Friday and they had already closed, so I called back Saturday to make an appt. for her. The earliest they could get her in was this Wed. (yesterday). By then, it had spread to both of her eyes, and now the other pup's one eye. So I called back and added my other pup to the appt. too. They have no other symptoms, but my one pup was definitely scratching at her eye because it was obviously bothering her. The vet prescribed drops, but was like, it could be allergies, but it could also be an infection that is contagious. I was like, well, we are supposed to board them again this weekend as we're going out of town, and the vet was like, I'm not concerned about you boarding them again because of their eyes, but kennel cough is going around really bad, so I'd ask them to keep them away from other dogs because of that if possible! So I called the place we board them, and they were like, sorry, since the vet said there's a chance they are contagious, we can't board them, not even keeping them away from the other dogs because if our handler's touch them and then touch other dogs they could pass it on. Ugh. We're going to Deep Creek this weekend for my MIL's bday with all of dh's family. The house we are staying in is pet-friendly, but we never travel with our dogs. One of the little cousins is allergic, one of the other families brings their very elderly, tiny dog who is not doing well health-wise (having seizures and stuff) who is terrified of my beasts, and mine bark at everything and are just big, exuberant, energetic dogs. I'm going to have to pack a ton of stuff for them including their big crates, dog beds, etc., and they are going to take up so much room in the car. And then I'm going to end up spending so much time trying to keep them calm and not bugging everyone and taking them out (we are used to having a fenced yard so I'm not even sure how many times I'll have to take them out a day). I did float the idea of me staying home this weekend with the dogs and dh taking the kids by himself since it's his family, but I missed out on most of the family trip 2 weekends ago because I came home early because I was sick, and he didn't want to be alone with the kids again (I don't really blame him) and I don't really want to miss out either. Boo, this sucks.
I'm thinking about running for a trustee position for our library. I love our library community and the duties are in line with my prior work experience. There is also an anticipated vacancy for our school board, whuch would probably be a better fit, but I don't want to get caught managing another pandemic crisis. 🤪

Good thing to focus on. I'm trying to do the same as well as focusing on time alone with DH. As the kids get older it reminds me one day I'll have all this time on my hands and will want people to spend it with.
expectantsteelerfan - ugh that really sucks. I would absolutely stay home with my two because it would be so stressful for me trying to manage them I wouldn't get any enjoyment out of the trip. But I get your H's objection, too.

I was just thinking, I wish I had a little break from school. I know I don't work a lot of hours, but it's a lot, teaching a class I have to prep, more than I bargained for. And I realized, school is closed Tuesday for election day! Boom, a break! That's pretty awesome.
Lucy went on a class trip to see Les Miserables today. It would normally be a pain to go get her after school, but she's getting done right when my class ends and my school is about ten minutes from hers. Another dub!
And a very random observation- i like the falafel cart at school a lot, but they mustve ordered dessert forks. I feel like a giant eating this
True random. My coworkers now believe I'm crazy. I don't know how the conversation started, but I told them all orange cats have an "M" on their forehead. There is a legend that there was an orange cat in the manager with baby Jesus and it comforted him. Mary in gratitude drew her M on the cat and now orange cats are forever marked. I realize this makes no sense, but the internet backs me up!
lol whut?
I’m gonna need all the people here with orange cats to confirm or deny.

I just checked my orange cat after I read this. He doesn’t have it.
He’s also a complete maniac so clearly he’s a devil cat and Mary’s M didn’t stick 😂

You should! Moms for liberty are getting their claws in everywhere, including libraries and especially school boards. It’s so important to try to stop their book banning, anti-LBGTQ agenda.
H and I were going to head to Seattle for 24 hours this weekend for friendsgiving sans DS6. However the mountain pass is looking bad. Lots of snow on both Saturday & Sunday. I'm going to ask my parents if they'll watch DS anyways so H and I can have some kid free time even though we'll most likely be staying home.

I’ve mentioned that I’m having a party for 100 next weekend. We have a tent and heaters coming. But I’m afraid it will rain. It never rains here! Ughhh
We matched two numbers for two draws, but because one of the numbers was not the Powerball, we don't win any money.
I actually googled which numbers tend to hit the most for the Powerball (the Powerball number itself, not the other 5 numbers), so we'll be trying again with those numbers.

Correction- I looked at him in the light and he does indeed have an M!
He’s still a devil cat though
I feel like orange cats are notorious for being bad. I have two and they're a handful and so damn chatty. This morning one of mine just walked up and bit my foot, wtf. He got banished from my bedroom and was like what did I do to deserve this cruel punishment??
