Is it normal to announce this early? I genuinely can't remember in past years, and I usually assume everything he does is for attention and distraction for something else. PLEASE send him to prison before this goes any further.
Also, I've been seeing TFG 2024 signs pretty much since the last election. Now I'm going to start seeing more. lolsob.
I remember Ds starting to announce in January 2019. That’s the earliest I remember.
Wait, what does it mean then? Because that’s what I thought too. And is it some established board shorthand for Trump? I see people use it and get who they mean but don’t really know why they don’t just say his name?

Lawrence O'Donnell just said on his show it is the earliest announcement ever, most likely in the hopes to avoid prosecution.
And I assume to get money from people and spend it on whatever he wants …including his hotels, kids, golf courses, etc. in the name of “campaigning”….oh and Attorneys lol!
He never said this. It's a republican talking point that has become a dem "fact".
I don’t know. He certainly talked about it in 2019 before he was elected. Not that it’s binding or anything but it’s not totally out of the blue that people think that.
He did not. Several right leaning publications (see the politico article) said that "advisors" said that he'd come out for one term. There was never public confirmation from his camp, and he certainly never did. He, publicly, has always said he'd run for a second term. This and the, "he's too old and he's slipping" are definitely conservative talking points.
Always thought TFG was That Fucking Guy, and it will forever be that.
RIP to anyone who played the Lying Drinking Game last night. I was becoming more and more irritated with each falsehood during dipshit's speech..until he touted his stellar performance re: COVID. That sent me over the edge and I thought I would have a rage-induced stroke. WTAF.
Y'all--I don't think I can do 2 years of this bullshit. Please, somebody, anybody, for the love of all that is holy, make it stop.
He absolutely can. DOJ has a policy/protocol about not making big moves within 90 days of an election but they have plenty of runway before then. But Merrick Garland has the unenviable task of weighing all the consequences of indicting or not indicting, and he may decide not to.
Honestly, I think this is the best approach. This is different than 2016. We still have to focus on energizing Democrats and working hard for 2024, but that’s where the focus needs to be. TFG is fucked. I really believe that he will be indicted soon.
He’s hoping this announcement will in some way protect him, but there is too much evidence. It may take longer than we want and I would bet 1 million GBCN dollars that there may be a swing in Republican support back towards him because that’s what they do, but he is going down.

Sort of tangential but I dread a world where DeSantis announces his run and everyone acts like that is totally fine because he isn’t Trump. I really thought it was widely understood that he would not be better in any way but apparently not? I’m at a conference this week and a couple of GOP strategists were on a panel. They’re “never Trump” as is the fashion for GOP folks we work with, but one of them said she’d happily put a DeSantis yard sign out as long as it kept Trump out of office, and friends… this is not the way.
The smoke coming out of my ears could have burned down the hotel. This morning I’m so fucking grumpy about it. I will quit my job before I go along with that shit.

I'm sorry you had to listen to that, ugh. They're only "never" Trump because he sold them out and said the quiet parts out loud and refused to play their stupid games with them. (Well, unless he could benefit, of course). I mean, Steve Schmidt just yesterday or the day before said the the Ds should work with the moderate Rs in the House to vote Liz Cheney speaker. So they are ALL full of shit at all times, even "former" Rs. They'd all fall right back in line for a DeSantis or Noem or whatever other hellmouth candidate they nominate. DeSantis is just as terrible, and I don't know if he is actually smarter, but he definitely seems shrewder politically which is terrifying.
Desantis is dangerous. If Republicans were smart, then they would dump Trump like a bad habit and jump on the Desantis train. Let's hope they aren't smart. As much as it's terrible to say, I fully believe that Desantis can win against Biden. He's young, he can tone things down when needed, and he's somewhat competent.
Otherwise let's hope that Desantis decides to run too and they tear each other apart.
But I will say that my formerly Republican sister hates Desantis as well.

Fuck the right-wing media. They gave Trump a dangerous platform and helped cause January 6th and election fraud conspiracies but the moment he turns into a loser (and only by virtue of his picks losing their own elections last week), they run away. Fuck them. They'll go crawling back to Trump once they realize his supporters aren't going away.
honestly Desantis is worse in some ways except he doesn't have the cult of personality that Trump has. He could do more real damage to our country. He's not a Liz Cheney by any means.

Oh I hope my post didn’t seem to come across as defending fox. They are the worst. It was just an observation.

Trump is a lying, incompetent ass. DeSantis is a lying, intelligent, cruel ass. Both are scary and dangerous but DS is electable. And that scares the crap out of me.

Nov 14 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday asked a U.S. appeals court to revive his lawsuit against Twitter Inc challenging his permanent suspension from the platform after his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
A lawyer for Trump, John Coale in Washington, told Reuters on Monday, "We want him to have the right to get back on" to Twitter.
