Yep. That’s what started it. Disney issued a statement against DeSantis and his feelings for hurt. Boom, here we are. But sure party of more freedoms. Sure. Reason a million why DeSabtis terrifies me:
Yup. Ironically the Disney response to Don’t Say Gay 1.0 (2.0 that was just proposed is far far worse) was pretty medium and came way late in the process after they got blowback for not speaking out about it initially.
DeSantis also said recently that he was going to use this board to force Disney to change the content in their programming (related to LGBTQ representation.) Fun times.

So extortion?
Yup. Extortion. Fascism.
Pick your poison. The guy is pure evil, as is anyone who continues to align with a political party that consistently advocates genocide.

I really hope the Democratic party is ready for him and has a campaign ready to go to really show this country WHO HE IS and what he has done and what he will do.

Doubtful, but one can dream....
Me too. And I hope people are willing to acknowledge that the discourse of the moment is illuminating that there are no safe Republican presidential candidates when it comes to trans civil rights, only candidates who are stating the party’s eliminationist goals outright and those who are talking around it.
Frankly I’m not sure how much to trust national Dem party on this either. The response is not nearly loud enough or coordinated enough to meet this moment, although certain individuals have been fairly strong.

I feel like anyone still voting Republican won't be moved by anything Dems say. I hope I'm wrong, but the truth has been shown time and time again and the response is always that mainstream media is lying to us all. Literally every publication is out to get us except one and that one is what they choose to believe even though the last couple weeks have shown even Fox reporters and higher ups don't believe the shit they say. They are committed to what they want to happen and will go with whoever or whatever supports that.

Of course not but we need Democrats to turn out to vote. And not for Liz Cheney or whatever other bullshit Twitter is trying to sell us. There are more of us than them, but we have cheating, voter suppression, and myriad other factors working against us. I worry there’s too much complacency from the “never Trump” democrats to make it happen in 2024 if he isn’t the nominee.
Basically the day before the legislature voted- the board voted to change the power the board had. And now it doesn’t have as much as it did previously.

Wait, what? What does this mean?
They made the board basically ineffective and gave Disney (the company) broad powers to do what it wants with projects without board approval.

I, for one, am DELIGHTED. Disney did this out in the open. They had public meetings and the new “board members” (I use quotes because how they were appointed is bullshit) would have known about it if they had actually cared enough to attend. They didn’t and so hahahahahaaaaaa!
I think this is fucking hysterical that they put this out there and all his incompetent idiots just completely missed it.
This is the part that keeps cracking me up. Obviously I’m still concerned about ..waves hands.. everything. But I have to take these little bits of joy.

Yeah exactly. But that douche needs to be knocked down every peg he can be.

This part made me chuckle":
"That declaration is valid until “21 years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, king of England,” according to the document."

I would pay big money to see a video of DeSantis throwing a big hissy fit about this. I'm sure it is not a happy night at his house, not that it usually is.

They should broadcast it in every Disney venue. it really is the happiest place on earth. I will never get tired of watching DeSantis get fucked.
Disney has too much power (70k+ employees in Central Florida alone). They won’t lose. They bring in way too much tourism to the state. I think DeSantis people are well aware of that and are counting on the noise ( tough guy ugh)they made and the fact that his base is so stupid that they may not understand or care about what just happened. But I’m happy and that King Charles term is awesome..
Never underestimate the mouse! They're king here in Florida. after so much shit that has been going on in this state, I'm glad for this little bit of joy.

Especially if he was stomping around in his stupid white boots. I know there's zero reason he'd be wearing them but the idea of him throwing a fit in them like a petulant child made me laugh.
California has already banned state-funded travel to Florida (and a large number of other states.) oag.ca.gov/ab1887
It seems to have accomplished … exactly nothing. Believe me, I hope businesses and blue states keep pushing on this. But I’m cynical and not holding my breath.
I’m definitely hoping the military will make some kind of stance about basing in FL (and TX, AL, MS, and any of the other states with fuckery going on), but I don’t see us being able to uproot all of those bases.
Right now the AF is working SO HARD to increase diversity, especially in flying occupations. But where are flying training bases located? TX, MS, FL, OK, AL. They are going to have a hell of a time getting diverse applicants to want to be based in those states. Hell, if I was a 20-something year old right now as a straight, white, cis woman, I wouldn’t want to be stationed somewhere with an abortion ban.
They would never because those states still make up a huge portion of their recruiting base and with recruiting and retention the way it is, they would be shooting themselves in the foot. It is also a lot cheaper to operate there for both the military and the servicemembers. It's more likely to provide some measure of flexibility to assignment choice than it is to stop basing in those places. Plus, strategically it doesn't make a lot of sense (as I am sure you know), especially for the Navy. It is frustrating as hell though, and every time H has to pick orders again I hold my breath. We are in CA right now and I took the opportunity to have my tubes removed last week out of fear of where we could go next.
Did he need those boots to ride Splash Mountain or Space Mountain? They are something.
The pic is from him touring some storm damage a while back. It’s just such a memorable image of his channeling his inner green m&m.
I figured it was from a more official thing not related to Disney. They reminded me of these boots worn by Minnie Mouse from her line of highly sought after Space Mountain collectors items released in January 2020. Or he might have needed the boots to survive Splash Mountain one last time, before they retheme all the racist stuff.
