We’ve been watching Home Improvement and it has led me on a JTT Google deep-dive. *siiiigh* he’s so dreamy.
I have very fond memories of watching this show with my family growing up. I tend to avoid rewatching anything that's nostalgic for me because if I don't like it as an adult, it ruins the memory.
We went on a boat trip this weekend; 8 hour cruise Saturday, spent the night then 8 hours home Sunday. I’m hungover - not headache-y but just feel tired and weak. I regret drinking so much but there’s not much else to do on the water on a slow boat.

I saw they had this on Disney+ this weekend and turned it on for the kids. I couldn’t believe the sexism in the first 7 minutes. And Tim Allen turned out to be such a douche. I think it’s ruined forever

I jumped in when the boys were in high school and Jill was back in school/working. I think the later seasons hold up, for the most part.
The main plot point is that men are dumb. I’m here for it 🤣

Maybe I need to jump to the later seasons. I started with the pilot and it was all about how annoying his wife was and his mocking voice of women bitching. 🙄
I’m listing to a good audiobook but am tempted to just look up the book ending online.
I do this on occasion. When I was younger I would NEVER. Now, sometimes I want to know the ending and it’s much more enjoyable to see how it all unfolds to get there. I still finish tho! I would never abandon a book. Haha
Fun Fact: sometimes authors write the last chapter first and then work backwards to get there.
We had the best time this weekend. We went to the Eastern Shore of MD with my BIL/SIL, stayed at the cutest resort, and just relaxed (pool, spa, food, drinks). I could have used one more day; I was so sad to leave yesterday, but I would definitely go there again.
The only damper on the weekend was that my H got numerous work-related phone calls while we were away. Lately, I have a really short fuse with that, but it's the nature of his job (it's 24/7) and I need to get over it. The past couple of times I've mentioned when that bothers me (because it's ALWAYS at the most inopportune time - sitting down to dinner) he's gets pissed off and offended, and it's just not worth the argument.

Thank you Jalapeñomel, as always for guiding the teacher wishlists. I'd never heard of them until here, and now try to donate here and IRL.
I got to sneak out this weekend and see the Barbie movie, then sit in a park for 30 mins and read in total peace. DH was happy to send me to the movie on my own, lol. I kind of failed because I didn't dress up, even in pink (left too late to contemplate an outfit), but I watched my Barbie VHS the night before so I still feel like I was in it. I'm surprised how much I liked it. No spoilers, but def cried 3 times. I recommend seeing it if you can. I hope they win awards for the set design too. So impressive to see what they did vs. making it CGI.
Also feel like I need to turn in my 90's card as I didn't listen to much of the Indigo Girls, but I'm totally here for "Closer to Free", and I think that's going to be my new anthem. I truly hope that song picks up in popularity like "Running Up the Hill" has from Stranger Things.
Our cleaners are coming today. We are having my sister and BIL stay here starting next Tuesday, so I'm kind of regretting that they are coming on an off week and that I didn't think to reschedule (cleaners come bi-weekly). I can probably touch things up well enough over the weekend for it to be clean for them, but a freshly professionally cleaned house is always so nice! They could probably come again next week but it probably would feel like a waste of money given that it won't be THAT dirty again in a week.
Maybe rephrase it as "what is my time on the weekend worth" and see if that justifies having them come back?
My random - I love having my bird feeders up and watching the birds as I work. But the last two summers, I've had horrible issues with pantry moths in my garage, infesting and feasting on the seed, so I've cleared out all seed and washed out the containers and I'm taking the summer off. This means I don't have the bird traffic I'm used to and enjoy. But a few weeks ago, I moved a bird bath to a spot that I can see from my office and it's giving me joy. I've already seen a robin and a cardinal enjoying it!

For the first time since we have had kids (13 years), I will have the house to myself for several days. DH is taking the kids to the beach and I am staying home. I CANNOT wait. I feel guilty being this excited, but dang it, I want to make what I want for dinner, starfish the bed and enjoy the quiet.

So glad!
Closer to Fine 😀 I can’t believe how big of a resurgence it has. I love the Indigo Girls. And with Brandi Carlile!

I expected interest in participating in a paid research study and was approved via email today! It’s for the Yellow Fever Vaccine and basically all I have to drink something called heavy water twice daily for some weeks and keep a diary.
I had blood drawn last week and I have whatever kind of markers they were looking for, so I’m in! They’re a respected university so I trust whatever research they’re doing AND they gave me a $75 Target GC for the blood draw alone so win / win.
I go on Thurs to receive the shot and start drinking the water. Side effects seem minimal so fingers crossed!

litskispeciality I cried twice! Like big ugly tears! I saw it on Sat and told people it made me want to do two things:
1) Randomly buy Barbies (new, unboxed) and leave them in public places so they might find whoever needs one. (I’ve left two on the subway so far funded by the paid research study Target GC)
2) Call your mom.
ETA- “Unboxed” might be wrong term, I mean new and in the package.

MH and I went to the beach alone yesterday and it was so nice and relaxing. We asked DS if he wanted to go but he was tired from the street hockey tournament and said no so it was just us. We sat down by the water where it was cooler. On the way home we stopped and got little necks and I made them for dinner. I am looking at the forecast for the week and trying to figure out if I can sneak away for another beach day.
Does anyone else think the NYT Connections puzzles are just too easy? I seem to get them within a couple of minutes most days. Am I just super smart? LOL. I like the idea but I think they should be more challenging.

My daughter has an upper limb difference. The organization Lucky Fin Project had their yearly gathering this past weekend in Michigan and we went for the first time. It was absolutely incredible for myself, DH, and my daughter. We will definitely be attending every year--we met SO many amazing people. I'm still all up in my feelings about it.

I agree, I do think they could be more challenging. I also think there should be an extra word or two because you just get the last one by default, not actual guessing.

Idk if this will get me flamed for judging and I swear I’m not judging. I’m a huge believer in second chances and I’ve had more than one second chance in my life. More power to you. But … If you don’t pay your taxes for ten years and then settle a six figure debt with the IRS for pennies on the dollar I’m happy for you, really! But don’t brag about it in a TV ad.

namasteak I was thinking about that job possibility over the weekend (I promise not in a creepy internet stranger way). It sounds like a perfect balance of behind the scenes admin stuff, which is kind of my safe space, and just enough providing direct services to be fulfilling. I’ll keep everything crossed for you!

I’m very chatty this morning. I like to figure out the obvious one, but leave those for the last row.
I find Connections either super obvious, or I would never have put four random things in the same category. There was one a few days ago that I think was all famous Tim’s out Tom’s or some such and all I got was “celebrity last names.” So technical I got it but I sort of didn’t really.
