MIL and I are taking dd and her bff to Knoebels (amusement park) at the end of the week, staying in a “primitive” cabin. It’s supposed to be like 95 degrees. Praying the cabin has AC! It does have electric.

We are going boating with FIL and his gf on her boat today. Kids are so excited for tubing and skiing. They are taking us out to dinner after and then we need to hurry home to get DD cleaned up to go to a bday party that is a sleepover. She will be there late, but the bday family know and said it's fine.

Bernadine, love Knoebels (I grew up in NEPA). Hope they have AC.
Everything has begun with our bathroom reno - guys have begun to rip stuff out after putting sheeting up. First bathroom should be demo'd by end of today and the other will begin tomorrow.

Ok, so how do you pronounce it? With the k or without? MIL says it with the k, but I was talking to someone from PA and she said it without.

I woke up to a text from an employee asking to telework because it's raining. WTF? They are already on leave restriction and were already told by the boss above me that no additional telework would be authorized (barring snowstorm, building not accessible, etc).
I just don't get the thought process of so many people.
I wore a cute little dress to work today. Normally it's warm in the office on Monday mornings because the air hasn't been on all weekend. For some reason today it's freaking freezing. I added a sweater, but it isn't helping. And of course I got iced coffee today instead of hot. FWP I realize LOL
I made the mistake of looking at my work email one last time Friday evening and OF COURSE there was a late day question bomb. It doesn't need a response until Wed this week, but it needs to be staffed through multiple levels of my leadership so of course I've been drafting that email in my head all weekend.
Only working M-W this week before we leave for vacation on Thurs, and holy crap it is going to be the longest three days. So much to do, ugh.
We were out all weekend (swimming one day and an outdoor festival yesterday) and we all got a LOT of sun! I got a little burned, but the top of my head hurts. I should’ve brought a hat yesterday. When did my hair get so thin?! If this happened, it was only my part line! I’m very much looking forward to any peeling in my future. /s
I guess I really need to call the doctor for my gastro issues. I've tried immodium, but as soon as I stop, it's back. My diet hasn't changed.
This all started when I took migraine meds from my doctor. But I guess it's been too long for that to be the culprit?
Apparently, the gut-brain connections could extend. My friends has chronic migraines triggered by a severe GI issue (required hospitalization, don’t recall what it was). But she said she never had migraines before that, and then they became daily. 🤷♀️
my period started on Saturday. And stupid me forgot to pack supplies. The only store we found only had regular tampons. I’ve been through 15 since Saturday night. Oh, and they just had pantiliners as backup. So many perimenopause shit left unsaid here. But I’m glad I’m going home today. And that I somehow managed to not stain the white sheets in the rental.

I only ever took 2 pills and that was end of March. And I only remember because it was my kid's talent show.
It's been off and on since then. But I really don't like my PCP after my last physical appointment.
I also need to call the derm to schedule my mole check and to have 2 removed that are bothering me.
I'm so tired of picking out kitchen finishes. I don't have the attention span for matte vs satin 🙃.
We just figured out that school does free lunch and breakfast but I'm worried my kid will just pick the least nutrious options. Not packing lunches would be amazing though (his school now also provides food, so I haven't had to do this ever and don't want to either, lol).
I just got a dual-chamber compost bin and I'm so excited to start composting. Anyone else have any recommendations for bins inside the house?
This week is my last week of grand jury duty. I'm honestly a little disappointed it's coming to an end. It's been really interesting and a nice break from the mundane BS at work. It was nice that it was during the summer and I could explore downtown a little. We typically get close to a 2 hour lunch break, so plenty of time to grab lunch and walk around. My step count was much higher over the last 5 weeks too!
H and I are both on vacation next week and we dropped the ball on planning anything. We will be at our cottage Sun-Thurs, and I wanted to plan an overnight someplace but we dragged our feet and now can't decide. Also, H's brother is meeting us up at the cottage for a few days in the middle of the week, so that puts a restriction on when we could go. We'll probably just do a day trip or something.

Our school makes them pick something from each category. My kid complains about some of the fruit/veggie options, but they still make her put them on the plate. I figure the exposure is better than outright refusal.

Oh! That's great! I didn't think of that-- I'm going to ask how they do it. Thanks!
Sometimes I think that I am not that big of a fruit person, but then I eat something in-season and realize that it's just off season fruit that I don't like. I had some pineapple and raspberries with breakfast and they were both so good! The raspberries are organic from Costco and I'm not sure if that made a difference - I feel like I got some recently from Aldi that were too tart.
Our cleaners are coming today. We are having my sister and BIL stay here starting next Tuesday, so I'm kind of regretting that they are coming on an off week and that I didn't think to reschedule (cleaners come bi-weekly). I can probably touch things up well enough over the weekend for it to be clean for them, but a freshly professionally cleaned house is always so nice! They could probably come again next week but it probably would feel like a waste of money given that it won't be THAT dirty again in a week.

I work with people like this. At least in my experience, they’re usually younger people, who have been told in many instances that “it doesn’t hurt to ask, they worst they can say is no.” I think many people expect to be told no! They’re asking just in case you say yes, without realizing how fucking annoying it is.

H's friend has a condo in Paradise Island and he's offered many times for us to use anytime, so we are going to take him up on it for our 10 yr anniversary in October. Between a free stay and tons of JetBlue points it will be a relatively inexpensive trip for us, but I was just looking at JB flights and it doesn't seem they currently fly there direct from Boston. When I search the other travel sites it doesn't seem like any of the airlines do. Wtf? It's so strange that no one flies there direct from here. Now I can't remember if we had a connecting flight when we went to Atlantis a few years ago.

When we went, also from Boston, we connected in Charlotte.
I was doing some yard work and accidentally brushed up hard against a branch that has a bird's nest in it. A very angry red cardinal swooped down at me and now (an hour later...) both mom and dad are stalking my window every time I walk by. I'm a little afraid to go outside.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I can’t imagine an adult doing this!
The first time it was POURING when I was a freshman in college, I called the front desk to ask if classes were canceled 🤦🏻♀️still one of my most embarrassing moments.

Ah well. I guess I can't complain if having a connection is our only inconvenience on this trip. H gets far more annoyed about connections than I do.
Today is Pioneer Day in Utah which is bigger than the 4th of July in many ways. Celebrations are similar, and most people fly the U.S. flag even though it's kind of a bizarre holiday for patriotism seeing as how the early Mormon pioneers were purposely going outside U.S. borders when they settled here. There's a huge parade in downtown Salt Lake, lots of fireworks, most businesses are closed, etc...
For those of us who like to be more irreverent about the state's dominant culture, it's Pie and Beer Day. I'm making French bread pizzas and a cherry pie for dinner tonight, and the kids will have root beer while H and I enjoy some local craft beers I picked up last week. We're also doing a lot of work in the yard and DS 2 has a D&D game at a friend's house.
I’m trying so hard not to get too excited about the job at the midwifery office. It would be nice for our budget but mostly I think it would so good for ME . It’s so nice to think of using my skills and my brain to contribute value outside of the home 💕
