We decided to go to a minor league baseball game today with the kids. I confirmed they serve beer and hot dogs first so now I’m excited!! It will be so much easier and cheaper than MLB so I hope it lives up to my hopes!
Has anyone else noticed that google maps has a lot of places that seem to be actually people’s homes listed as businesses? Some of them I think are people making and selling cakes or bread out of their home or crafts but they are listed like they are regular businesses you can go and shop in.
I keep running into this when I’m in places I’m not super familiar with. Today we are doing a day trip and I wanted to get bread to bring home and I found “Joan’s Bakery” but when I go to actually get directions, it takes me to a house in a cul de sac in a huge subdivision.
Are people just rolling up to these people’s houses expecting bread all the time? Some are listed as open 24 hrs. A large % of the time there are no websites listed but often there are some pictures and a phone number.

We have a prospect league team in our town and honestly it is my favorite. Tickets are $10 or less, and the beer is so cheap. In the final 3 innings, hot dogs drop to $1 each.
They did away with the $1 beer the first hour of the game, and it was a sad day. Probably because of people like me who would walk up with a fiver 🤣
tacokick, yes, same thing here. But actually, seeing one of these prompted me to go to their website and now I follow this guy on Instagram. He does bread orders on Sunday for pick up on Thursday. I’ve done it and the bread is really good!
We have a mostly lazy weekend ahead. Soccer for DS2 and then he’s off to a birthday party with a friend. We are going up to the mountains for the week, so we need to get laundry done, pack, figure out groceries, etc.
Hoping to finish Mad Honey this weekend and just relax between our getting ready for vacation activities.
It's pouring here this morning so I couldn't go to the weekly farmer's market to get my favorite iced coffee, soft pretzel and shop for veggies I love doing that every Sat. morning in the summer.
We have a huge garage sale next Fri and Sat that we still have stuff to prepare for so that will probably be happening today.
Mostly lazy weekend here, too. I am going to see Barbie in a couple of hours and I'm super pumped for that. But I don't really plan to leave the house otherwise this weekend. There are a couple of minor house fix things that I want to do at some point, and I probably should update my syllabus for the course I'm teaching in a few weeks. And we really need to submit our homeowners insurance claim for our roof. But I also want to finish reading Fairy Tale and relax, too.
The weather in London is pants. It was 13c (55f) at 9.30am this morning and raining. At the height of warmth, we're getting 19c or 66. NOT the normal August weather. Bah. My poor garden has been getting too much water and we had the rainiest July on record. All we're doing this weekend is walking and training the dog, putting up a banister so my MIL can use our ensuite bathroom a floor up from her bedroom (due to renovations on the other bathrooms) and laundry.
My niece took my mom to visit family in suburban Boston and they've decided to spend an extra day in Rockport on the beach and doing touristy things. I feel like I hit the lottery as I didn't have to host mom's crazy Trumptastic sister. It is so nice to not have to keep her entertained and listen to her random musings. Her world is smaller at 85 but last week she talked for 10 minutes about reheating a meal I prepared. I thought my head would explode. She's has 2 PT appointments and a derm procedure scheduled for next week, so I will be back in the thick of it before long.
DH and I are meeting friends for at a dive drive-in diner place so I need to pick up a bottle of wine as they're byob. I'm debating a drive to NJ for a better selection when I head to feed mom's cat.

Minor league baseball is awesome! I’ve been to countless MLB games (actually going tonight) but the minor leagues are so much more laid back, homey and fun for the kids. Enjoy!!

My dd and I are going to the P!nk concert today. I'm excited, but I'm also anxious because I'm having surgery (tummy tuck and hernia repair) on Monday, so I'm not as excited as I normally would be because I've been preparing for that and it's on my mind a lot. I don't even know what I'm going to wear yet, and I have a lot of laundry and cleaning to do today and tomorrow before I'm out of commission for a while.
Any suggestions on what to wear?
This is so different from the Taylor Swift concert where we had planned outfits and stuff months in advance. Dd forgot we were even going until I reminded her yesterday.
It was a rough week and I was glad to finally sleep through the night and wake up late. I'm getting a facial today and I'm really looking forward to it. Tomorrow we're going to the beach and I cannot wait. We always go to the one by our house but lately there's this big drop off in the water and it makes it much harder to swim. It also gets really crowded. We're going to one that doesn't allow coolers, tents or radios so I'm looking forward to a quiet day with an unobstructed view of the ocean. I may never leave!

Lol. We’re doing the same thing today for the same reasons 😂
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

It’s weird. I miss yelp being the default.
I suspect, with nothing to cite, that it’s home based business and the address on their business license. I see it at work sometimes with independent consultants. I Google for their website and get their home address.
But also, there can be home bakeries. I almost picked a lady working out if her home for a wedding cake. We did the tasting in her kitchen. She was my favorite, but a friend worked at a fancy bakery and did the cake for us.

There is nothing that annoys the shit out of me more than my husband napping on the couch, just snoring it up in the middle of the house and being grumpy about kids wanting to play with him or take over the tv, etc.
Then he acts like I’m a big huge asshole because I’m like, “GO TO BED if you want to nap!”
If you’re tapping out on life for rest, good for you. Enjoy your rest. gtfo out of the main living area. Stop being a rude, grumpy turd.

I guessed that explains some of it but that sort of thing didn’t used to show up like it does now. I wonder that changed?
I would not be happy to have people showing up at 6 am (or midnight!) because Google is advertising my house as a 24 hr bakery! I almost did this on my trip to NJ recently because the address was on a little Main Street in the mountains but when I got there, I think it was for an apartment above an antiques store and not a real bakery.

That’s really fun! I keep seeing this one cupcake place that looks cute but the only contact info is a phone number and I don’t want to call lol

Businesses have control over what hours (and location for thst matter) are shown on Google. If they've set themselves as being open 24 hours with a physical location, that's on them.

Lol I wouldn’t call either! I was nervous going to pick up the first time, but he has a shelf out front for orders, so I just grabbed it off the shelf. I was fearing an awkward interaction of needing to ring the bell.
DD is going to sleepaway GS camp tomorrow and we just got an email that there will be theme days! Dress like a pirate! Dress like your favorite food!
This is so awesome band just what I needed. I’m so happy.
🙄🙄🙄🙄
FUCK.
THEME.
DAYS.
I have folded. Because I am extra. I went to the dollar store and was inspired. I perpetuate the problem (in my defense this cost $5 all in and took 15 minutes)

Def complain to the camp director about late communications, and if they brush it off, go higher. There’s nothing I hate more than a GS camp that puts pressure on parents due to poor communication and disorganization.

We have a very small ranch house. My husband will go in our bedroom to lay down in the middle of the day and leave the door open. It's next to the living room and shares a hall with our only bathroom. Are we supposed to tiptoe around? Hold it when we have to go? He will stay in there for an hour or two and then complain that he didn't sleep. Gosh, I wonder why? Don't fucking go to bed for 2 hours and still complain continuously about how tired you are. Do not dare.
Continuing on with my pillow complaints from yesterday... I just ordered a custom pillow. It comes with a 125 day trial period, so what do I have to lose? I was able to set my firmness preference as "rock hard" so hopefully it comes through!

We're back home after the BEST trip to CA. We didn't see everyone, but we did pretty well! And we somehow managed to get a toddler, two big suitcases and two massive boxes full of my childhood things through 3 airports, 2 totally separate flights and back home with no casualties 😅
Now it's winter again, and I have to go to the grocery store and then actually cook meals, all of which seems wildly unfair but oh well.
I guessed that explains some of it but that sort of thing didn’t used to show up like it does now.

When I called one “yarn shop” to check the hours they were very surprised to see what was listed.
It seemed like Google changed how they listed businesses and now it’s on the business to be reactive vs proactive over the listings that they might not even know are there. I know that changed for my author page last year. No notice, they just completely revamped it and made it useless. But at least I’m not a physical business and my address wasn’t included! I’m not regularly googling myself so I didn’t notice until someone else pointed it out.

I took an Uber to my per diem job today cause I was at a far away location. The Uber driver stopped for the protestor on the way out and took a rosary from her :/ Then the protestor said "I saw a woman come out in a body bag, it’s dangerous there, don’t go there." I can only laugh at the ridiculousness. I wish these people weren’t so dangerous though, ugh.
