My sister is pregnant again! This will be her third, and I really wasn’t sure they’d go for number 3. I’m excited to have another baby in the family! She’s due March 17.
And I’m so grateful for her that she gets 12 weeks paid maternity leave.
Bernadine, Perfect timing. I have 2 March babies so I can confirm that your new niece or nephew will be at a very fun age for their first December holidays. We have the first two weddings of our next generation coming up next summer (2 of our nephews) so I am looking forward to having young kids at family bathing in the next several years.
LOL, just noticed that family gatherings was auto corrected to bathing. I’m leaving it just to see how many people pay attention to this post.

I’m nervous about my follow up today (kidney stones). Mostly bc I don’t know what to expect really. I’m nervous that when the stents come out, I’m going to get another infection. Also how are they going to treat the stones? Ugh my brain is being very creative in finding new horrible ways to fill in the gaps.
4speedy, I definitely blinked at "family bathing" lol
We're working on moving DD from her current bedroom to a lower level room, then DS into her current room, and his room will be an actual guest room. This means emptying a lot of closets/dressers and rearranging where we store stuff, so we're seeing pretty much everything they own. I am fully down the purge and reorganize rabbit hole, and seriously just want to kick everyone out of the house and take a week off from work to do it.
So the splinter is still in her heel. We gave up. She says it hurts a little, but not a lot. I'm going to try and get her to soak in epsom salts later today.

Oh also- yesterday at like 8:30 am a colleague from the community college texted me. “Hey, I have an extra ticket to the Phillies game tonight, wanna come?” I couldn’t bc I didn’t have anyone to watch the kids. OF COURSE Harper hit an inside the park home run. Damn it!
Lucy and I have tickets to tomorrow nights game. Hoping for similar fireworks.
Anyone done the laundry stripping? I bought everything because I feel like the sheets aren't as clean and smell a little stale after sitting in the closet.
But I don't want them to like create bleach spots or something. I mean, they're just target sheets, but still...
ProfessorArtNerd - I hope your doctor can put your mind at ease re: the kidney stones. Hopefully, it's one and done. On another note, I'm so happy the Phils finally have their bats going. It's going to be a nice night for the game on Wed!
It's SO nice out this morning! I tried to convince my H to play hooky, but no luck.
Every year, usually in Sept, a bunch of my colleagues from other offices comes to our office for 2-3 days of meetings. We prep for audit and it's a chance for us to regroup as a team since we're all primarily working remote. I'm usually in charge of planning dinners and nailing down reservations, and while it annoys me that it falls on me (I'm the only female of our group of the mgrs) I also like having the control, otherwise it would never get done. Since everyone is coming to my office, I feel like it should be me and my boss handling lunches and dinners. We don't have administrative assistants, and I can't delegate it to anyone who reports to me because 2 of the nights are dedicated to the managers and 1 of the nights the whole team is invited.
My boss's boss's boss is SO picky. Not that his palate is limited, but it's that he's so judge-y about restaurants. There's one place nearby that he really liked last year, so I'm going to get that one booked. I have a few other ideas for places that may work for the other 2 nights. I'm delegating lunches to my boss. I stress over this way too much.
I took DS shopping for some school stuff on Saturday. He needs all black shoes for school and we found a pair of adidas sneakers he liked but they didn't have his size in the all black (also, his feet grew 2 sizes since I last bought him sneakers!) The sales girl offered to order them for us, but I decided to wait and check some other stores. We didn't find anything else at the mall, so I checked online yesterday and found the same style sneakers on the adidas website and they were 1/2 the cost of the store. Famous Footlocker had them for $70 and online they were $35. I think they are the exact same shoe, but even if not they might be like last years version. He doesn't care. I also got myself a pair that were $30.
Now I just need to find him pants. It was so much easier when he was in boys sizes. He needs a 29W and 28L and they are impossible to find. A 30W would probably work too and I can find those online, but only at places that are $$$ (Gap, Banana, Dockers) not Old Navy or someplace cheaper. I don't want to spend $60+ on pants that will likely only fit him for a few months.
I accidentally demo'd my bathroom 2 weeks before our kitchen remodel.
We only have one bathroom and I have a fever rn 🫠
Oops.
"Accidentally demo-ed" I need insight on this. I have a bathroom that needs to be "accidentally demo-ed."
Feel better.
We tiled one wall like 15 years ago and I wanted to paint and freshen it up, but removing the tile destroyed the wall. In order to repair the wall, we had to pull out the toilet and vanity. And since all that was out, we decided it was time to replace the floor. So new toilet, vanity, floors, walls, paint.
I got flooring and vanity reinstalled yesterday. Toilet is up next but I have to rest today because I feel terrible.

My accidental demo requires removal of a brown tub and green floor tiles. No freshening up the space until those are out!

I'm part of a new carpool; 3 families with a total of 6 kids between us. I actually got a new car to be a part of this carpool; it has captains seats and a third row for 3 kids. My child sits in the front seat. I had no idea, but apparently the captains seats are VERY coveted. It's becoming a problem (minor, but it's a deal for these elementary school kids.) You would think the first kids in would go to the back; that was my plan.... but that's not necessarily fair; they don't get to choose who gets picked up first. AND they argue when getting in the car bc no one want to go to the back. So my daughter made a seating chart lol. I really hope it eliminates the "fighting." Good grief.

The awful Hillsdale funded segregation academy opened yesterday....and I know one of the teachers, not close, but an acquaintaince, ugggh. I had my suspicions about her. The school is k-7 and will add a grade each year to eventually be thru 12th. I find it very interesting she would teach at such a hateful place and yet her kids go to different schools. The oldest is in 11th grade, so he can't go there, but the younger two could and they don't. There are a very small number of kids attending this school. I could see it closing in 1 to 3 years. They don't even share their address. It's all so awful.
Like many of you our heat indexes are 100 to 110 this week. Last night DS2 had a cc meet an hour away and they pushed start time back to help with the heat, so he and I got home at 930 and he needed to shower, eat, and finish homework. Tonight DS1 has a cc meet. Luckily it it local. He has another one on Saturday, but we don't know where yet. They are splitting the team up to go to different meets and we don't know who goes where yet, so planning the weekend is hard. One location is 3 hours away and the other is 45 min. Guess which I'm hoping for?!
TMI: Why do the health issues as you get older get more and more disgusting. First it was hemorrhoids and now I have a very large and painful bump on my groin that appears to have burst this morning. I normally would let it play out and not rush to a doctor but I leave tomorrow for a week long work trip and I don't want to get stuck out there with like MRSA or something. So now I have a doctor appointment where they will probably just tell me there's nothing they can do and I get to explain to them the large painful swollen area on my groin. LOL. Sob.
Back from vacation and in the office today. It was tough dragging my ass out of bed. It was so nice having 5 days without any stress or anxiety. Of course, now it's all back with a vengeance, so blah.
PDQ: my husband is waiting for a job offer today and he’s so nervous. He’s a super chill dude normally but he was up all night and finally got up and went to work around 6 this morning bc he was awake anyway. Dude, I’m supposed to be the anxious one! (And I’ve also been up all night bc I’m a crap sleeper). Fingers crossed that he heads good news today!
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”
I dropped off our car for an oil change and tire rotation this morning, and they reminded me of the long list of maintenance items that they recommended back in January. So today we're replacing some hose or something and flushing something. Lol. The car is right at 77k miles so I know this is about the time that everything needs doing, especially since it's 8 years old. But I hate this point of car ownership! I hope this car lasts us many more years though so it's probably a good idea to take care of this stuff.
I went to the farmer's market on Sunday and bought some tomatoes and microgreens, so the last couple of days I've had avocado toast with both of those, plus an egg on top. It's been really delicious! I've never bought microgreens before but the person selling them was giving samples and they actually have way more flavor than I would have expected.
Today is my first contracted day at the school district. Just meetings, trainings and getting things situated for tomorrow (the first day of school!). I'm excited for this new transition for me! :-)
H, DS & I have our family engagement meeting with DS' 2nd grade teacher in the late afternoon today. I thought DS was doing okay with the transition, but he is on the struggle bus. It's a big change. Poor guy. Once he gets back into the routine it will be easier. We just have to get there first.
I flew home yesterday. And it’s peak ragweed season, which is my only seasonal allergy. And I had to office today. So I’m sitting here doing the 2020 thing of allergies, sinus infection brewing, or Covid. And I have a gyn appointment tomorrow that I’ve waited 6 months for. It better not be Covid because I think it would be good to go tomorrow so she can witness the failed ablation first hand. And I can find out if this is a failed ablation or within the spectrum of acceptable.
I also noticed the family bathing, but figured maybe they have group hot tub times with babies or something. Or old school bathing for swimming. It is a bathing suit, right?

I slept through the night for the first time in over a week and feel like a human today! Thank you, modern medicine! Even if for some reason the pharmacist made a mistake and gave me dissolvable antibiotics instead of a normal pill, and it tastes SO disgusting.
Our original family vacation earlier this month was cancelled for shitty reasons.
As an alternative, my SIL very generously invited us to join them at the beach this week. We are going down tomorrow afternoon and coming home Friday or Saturday.
I just checked the weather, and it's supposed to rain pretty much the whole time.
I think we are just not meant to vacation this summer.
