Those on zepbound how are your side effects? I am thinking of asking my doctor about switching from Wegovy as I don’t find it to be working. She had said before zepbound seems to be more effective (before it was available). So now that it’s available I’m thinking of switching.
I never really had a weight loss goal; if anything, Dr. put me on Mounjaro because my Trulicity that I was on for Type 2 was no longer being covered under my insurance. I stayed on the equivalent dosage for quite a while, however they finally titrated me up about 4 months ago. Since moving up, I have lost 30 lbs and I think I need to get them to start backing down. I am actually being told that I am too skinny.
Background: In 2003 I had WLS. I weighed 298 lbs at the time. At my lowest after surgery was 155lbs. I have fluctuated since that surgery and about a year ago between 175 to 199. When I titrated up and I am now 146 lbs.
Every 10 days at 1.0 has been working. I have more of an appetite so I am not losing weight, but not gaining either. The only thing I don’t like is the hair loss. It’s not terrible, but hoping it will stop soon since I am no longer losing weight.
I started a prescription because it was SO bad.
I am also frustrated because we had to switch insurance for 2 months; that means the meds are not covered. I had 4 pens and was trying to spread them out and do them every 2 weeks...but I have gained 9 lbs in the last month and all my clothes that I have been wearing are uncomfortable and tight. I think I will just pay full price for the next month to go back to my normal doses every week. blah.

when I first started, I only had bad side effects one week. Otherwise general queasiness and diarrhea as well as constipation. But within a year both went away.

I am sorry that is so frustrating. I don’t know how long my insurance will cover me for. Fingers crossed they don’t kick me off.

I met with my doctor last week and he was going to prescribe Zepbound and work on the prior auth. I thought it would take longer but I just got a notification that it's ready to be picked up!
I leave for vacation tomorrow so I think I will hold off until I get back. Very excited to start though!
Had my clinic check-in today--10 lbs this month! I am 7 away from the halfway point, and the most I've lost between check-ins. I am staying on W 1.0 for another month--I couldn't imagine going up to 1.7 yet. Down exactly 15% of starting body weight in 4 months; it's truly stunning to me.
I really thought that I hadn't lost any weight this month, so cue the shocked Pikachu face when the clinician told me the #s. I could have hugged her; I was feeling pretty down about it all last week, knowing the appt was coming up. ALL the numbers were good--muscle mass, water, blood pressure, the works.

How are your clothes fitting? That's the big indicator for me if I'm not feeling confident in how much I'm losing or how quickly.
Guys, I am officially in size 12 jeans (and have been for a few weeks). I know clothing sizes are BS and made up, but it feels so amazing to just walk up to a rack of clothing, pick something I like, put it on, and BOOM it fits.
Like... OMG. I never liked fashion until now. Or at least how I looked in 'fashionable' clothing, haha.
I've gotten rid of so many things that I was hanging on to in my closet, and the feeling of FREEDOM that exists in my brain now is unbelievable. If you're scared to try on the jeans, just try them on. They might surprise you.
My new favorite jeans are American Eagle skinny high-waisted.
We got info on health insurance enrollment for 2025, guess what's no longer covered. Yeah, glp1s for weight loss. So pissed. My husband's company has excellent insurance so I don't know if they chose to remove that or if BCBS did.
So I have 3 more refills of Wegovy this year, then I think I will try to switch to the Zepbound single dose vials as they are half the price of the pens and you order them directly from Eli Lilly. I had been considering switching already. We can afford the vials out of pocket. I mean we could technically afford the pens too but I'd rather spend that money on other things.
I will miss my $25 a month copays and the ease of the pens.

I should give AE jeans a try. I have been wearing some I got at Rack and this pair of like Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants jeans that continue to keep fitting as I lose weight, lol.
I mostly live in athleisure but like having a couple pairs of jeans.

This is an amazing question and I love that you asked me. 🤗 And I will preface all of this commentary with agreement that sizes are BS & made up.
I had to size down (XL to L) in most of my dress pants in active rotation (ponte pull-on pants in tall from NY&Co) in September because the XLs were falling off--I shop my own closet because I have bins upon bins of pants (and some tops too, but nowhere near the # of pants) in many sizes (I keep ALL pants regardless of size because I have to buy tall and they are hard to find). In jeans (Madewell and NY&Co) I had to size down multiple levels (e.g. 34 in Madewell to a 31). I almost cried the day I put on the 31s--I couldn't believe they fit again. I have lots of regular dress pants from NY&Co (not pull-on), but I am missing one size, and the next size down is a little too tight still (I can get them on, button and zipped, but feel squeezed in them), so I am waiting (I am super excited to someday wear my pin-striped pair again--they are my favorite). In tops I was noticing that some of my XXLs from Loft (esp mixed media ones) are so loose and baggy I can't wear them anymore. I do tend to wear my clothing a little loose, so if I'm in-between sizes, I size up. I could probably wear a L top from Loft, but I don't like to feel constricted in my clothes.
I was feeling bad about the #s in September, probably because I had sized down in a bunch of things and things now "fit" rather than being "big"/super loose, and that was a strange feeling. As I'm thinking about it to write this post, there is one pair of pants that I sized down into at the beginning of the month (they were slightly tight, but I could wear them comfortably) that are a little looser now than they were at the beginning of this month. I bought them several years ago thinking they would fit (they were the same size as a bunch of other pants), but because they are made of a different material, they just never did. So I stuck them in a bin and forgot I had them. But now they fit and I've gotten a bunch of compliments on them!
A small part of what motivated me to go the W route is that I have all of these beautiful clothes that I wanted to wear again. I am slowly bringing the smaller sizes back into my rotation and I'm so happy. I did go on a mini shopping spree from Loft this week to celebrate my progress: 2 new cardigans, tops in XL 😍, and a pair of dress pants in the size I am missing. I wish I could walk into a store and buy pants, but none of them have their talls in stock, so I still have to shop online. 🤣
I will check out your rec for jeans! IIRC AE has talls, so they might work for me! So happy to be part of this thread to support all of us in our journeys. 💕

yes yes yes all of this. I went from size 18(+) to a size 8 in shorts, 10/12 in pants. I have literally not been that size since early college days.
I have just purged all the XL clothes from my closet and it feels so good. Wish I had extra cash to replace them all!

Has anyone delayed their shot after the stomach bug? I was sick Sunday night into Monday and didn't eat anything solid until late Tuesday afternoon. I am supposed to take my shot today, but I am nervous since I haven't really eaten and I still haven't pooped since Sunday.

I haven’t done it due to illness, but at one point my refill was delayed so I had to move it back like 5 days. It was no big deal, I picked up where I left off and have been on that day of the week ever since.

I’ve officially lost enough that it’s noticeable to others and in my clothes. The comments from people are…odd? Good? Weird? I’m not sure how to process what people say!
I’ve gained and lost enough times in my life that I would prefer people just not comment on my weight at all, so I’ve stopped commenting on others’ weight changes, too. I agree that sometimes the comments are just awkward/weird.

I am at this point as well and it's just weird. Most of the time I just say thank you and move on. I have had some people ask if I am taking the O shot which I just ignore and change the subject. A few friends do know and have all been very supportive. While some of the decision was vanity most of it was because I had high blood pressure that wasn't responding to meds and was about to have to start cholesterol meds and I was in the low range of being pre-diabetic . Since being on Zepbound my blood pressure and blood work have never looked better.

I had an appointment with my Endo yesterday. My A1c is down to 5.0. I'm down another 20 lbs since I saw him last and down 49 lbs since I started Mounjaro in Jan. We decided to up my dose to 10 since the weight loss has really slowed down for me and I'd like to lose another 75 lbs or so. He said it shouldn't drop my blood sugar, but of course to monitor it and eat a ton of protein. He was happy with my progress, said to keep it up and he'll see me in 6 months unless I need him sooner.

I had a consult with my PCP yesterday and she recommended Zepbound for me. She is checking on authorization through my insurance and will get back to me. I am weirdly nervous and excited I guess?? She was really knowledgeable about it and has even taken it herself.

I realized I never updated after my last appt. with my Dr. who is leaving the practice. She wasn't willing to switch me back to Zepbound even though I'm no longer losing on Wegovy because she's leaving, which I sorta expected. But when I called the office to make my next appt., they STILL don't have a replacement for her. I could call the hospital system downtown and try to make an appt. there (with a long wait time to get in and a super inconvenient location), or I could call back in Dec. to see if they are scheduling for a new provider, in which case my next appt. would likely be Jan. or Feb. They will continue sending refills of Wegovy for me until whenever my next appt. is, but I'm frustrated I can't switch to Zepbound. I'm tempted to do an online appt. and get it compounded, but it's frustrating for me because my insurance does cover it.
My mom recently tried to make a new patient appt. at ALL the weight loss doctors in our area, and they all have 6-9 month waitlists for new patients.

my obgyn takes compounded zep, lol. He and I had a great talk about it at my last appointment.

It was super easy for me to get a name brand prescription from helloalpha.com back when I started on Mounjaro in 2022. It was probably cheaper than a local Dr, too. It's $65 a month now, and you can do your whole appt through their website.
It looks like compounded trizepatide is over since the FDA announced the shortage was over last week. I guess there's a 60 day grace period for compounding pharmacies to fulfill orders for existing patients, but maybe you can try to find someplace that's still taking new patients. There's probably going to be a hard stop to it in about 54 days either way though.
I just got back from a girls weekend, and for the first time in years, I didn’t mind taking pictures, and I actually liked how I looked in most of them.
Down 33 lbs since 6/5…currently on 7.5mg of Zepbound.
TMI Question: For those of you that have thrown up being on the meds, what was it like? I mean, was it very forceful or violent? Or was it more like “nope there’s too much here, back it up.” ? My mom was very sick last night and we’re trying to figure out if it might have been the Ozempic or if she’s got a bug. I don’t think her dosage has increased or that she’s eaten anything out of the ordinary so I’m leaning bug, especially because she said it was pretty violent and that seems more like your body trying to expel a germ vs the slowed digestion, but idk. I’m just worried about her.

Oh god the first couple of pens I was violently ill. At one point I was in the Newark airport and barely made it into the stall and projectile vomited everywhere. Like Exorcist style. That settled down after a few weeks along with me figuring out how my eating patterns affected things. It’s been 2.5 years. I’ve been on maintenance for over a year. I rarely have issues unless I go a long time without eating then I will dry heave and puke small amts of gastric juices.
