The takes I'm seeing today from pundits vary from "This debate will change nothing" to "This debate has the potential to change everything!"
Personally, I don't think it will change anything unless one of them keels over, or pulls a McConnell in the middle of the debate.
I actually did see a pundit say that it would take someone dying on stage to change anything.
I don't really care about undecided. You have to know by now who each person is, and if you don't, you're stupid or so apathetic you don't deserve to vote.
I only care in that those are the types to be subject to believing trump lies. They believe worst inflation ever when it's at a decades long low, and their increased prices are entirely due to corporate greed. Same with rent, that it's due to corporate profit chasing.

If you could ask a question at the debate, what would it be?
I saw a video of street interviews where they asked people this and it brought up a lot of great voter concerns about policy, which feels like it has been lost in the media narrative about two really old (possibly senile) guys debating.

Do you agree or disagree that a U.S. president is just a person with that job title, and not one who is entitled to special treatment not awarded to any other citizen of this country?

What is your plan to help the average American family that is having trouble making the bills each month, with current inflation?

Inflation isn't even the problem (because it's decades low)! The correct question is how to rein in out of control corporate greed that only cares about stock holders which they will never answer to my satisfaction.

Yeah, I'd like to hear them answer this too, framed as median cost of education, housing, and consumer goods relative to wages and how those ratios compare to 5, 10, 20 years ago.

This is precisely why it IS a good question. It gives them the chance to clear this misconception/misinformation and then clarify what the actual problem is.
I still find it hard to imagine Trump showing up! I mean, what's in it for him? He's not going to answer any questions. Just list off an unhinged list of lies out of context.
ETA: Bragging, too. Lies and bragging. I genuinely look forward to him dancing around the abortion issue, knowing full well his (fake-ass) hardcore stance is wildly unpopular.

So when he flubs it all he can whine that it was all rigged, unfair, etc. Just one more cross for him to bear.
I'm at my parent's house today, and my dad was flipping channels and decided to see what lies Fox News was spewing already. It was bad. I was in the other room as I'm not sure how many people were on this panel but between two people, this is how it went.
Paraphrasing here:
A: Most people tuning in tonight are just watching to see how Trump embarrasses himself. B: Are you serious? Trump is a very smart and educated man who is here to make the American people better off.
A: So when January 6th is brought up, will he speak the truth? B: Trump is here to talk about serious and real issues, not these made-up claims.
This is one of the first debates I watch in full (Canadian living in Brazil), and I don't understand why Biden's camp agreed to debate. From what I understand, it's not mandatory?
He just seems so much more frail compared to Trump while speaking and on stage.
It's almost like what they say won't matter, but how they say it will.
I am out. I made it 10 minutes. I have so much respect for Biden. I will vote for him. We shouldn’t have run him in this election and I am now officially very nervous.
